- “Mule tape is a high-strength cordage that is commonly used for heavy lifting jobs in woods craft and camping. The smooth, flat rope is designed to slide easily through tight spaces. However, it has a downside: its slickness makes it difficult to tie a secure knot that won’t slip and become difficult to untie. In today’s video, I will demonstrate several tips and tricks for tying mule tape to a tree to hang gear or to hang a hammock.”

glad to help
Absolute Awesomeness..!!! Thanks again Blackie..!!
Thanks again!

Just watched your mule tape vid- well done. You answered several of my questions. Thank you and may GOD bless you for all you do. You continue to work hard to teach those who do not have the years of experience. Thank you.
You are very welcome
Thanks...Great info !
Nicely done on showing the different ways too tie mule tape and not have a knot , that you can't get out . Nice job on video!! Keep up the good work on videos!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🔪👍👍
Thanks 👍
I'm a big fan of mule tape for my hammock setup.
its good stuff
Con-do-it! LOL pipe! Love your videos for their down south help.
Thanks 👍
This is really useful information! You make it look easy, too.
lol lots of practice
Thanks Blackie , that is very helpful I'm glad you showed us this. I knew about the Timber hitch but not the others.
Absolutely love the stuff, my old boss used to tell a story about watching some contractors doing a pull for some underground with it stretched across one of the roads on our campus and tied off to the truck they were using to do the pull. A car came along that ignored what they were doing, and ran into the line while it was under tension. It took the cosmetic portion of the front end of the car off and didn’t break.
I’ve also used the stuff as my tie downs on my ladder racks for years. Not sure how much strength it actually lost from being in the sun, but the last batch I replaced was on there for about six years and the only real issue I ever had was if it was wet when you had to tie it off it was a pain to get loose the next time.
i can believe it
Thank you for your videos Blackie! Great info. Take care, and God bless.
Thanks, you too!
I recently used the quick deploy Ridgeline with a couple of alpine butterfly loops to hang my hammock. Took a little tries to get my loops spaced right, works great now. Love the mule tape.
Dagen Blackie you’re an encyclopedia kinds of different stuff and really cool video
Wow, thanks
I really needed to see this video . I got a bunch of Mule Tape 2500 and this is gonna help .
Mule tape is very strong. I had a 98 suburban that weighed over 5k lbs. I had it on a small incline, put in neutral and pulled it with a truck. It's definitely a lot stronger than 550 paracord.
Thanks for sharing
Good video Blackie, thanks for sharing, God bless !
Thanks, you too!
Hello Blackie- I dont have much experience with this tape, but I have tied using prusik and works very good. Another thing it is great for is using it to make a tensionless anchor utilizing a carabiner around a tree, for instance. Thanks for another video and hopefully its starting to cool off down that way. Carry On-
I use mule tape on permanent tree platforms deep in the swamps for tree stands or a place to sleep approximately 10 ft in the air.
what about all them bugs?
yep most skeeters only fly 6ft or less so your above most ofthem
wow thanks!
Thanks for the info, Blackie... I've set up mule tape ridge lines a time or two. I just used a bowline and a stick toggle for my anchor end. Trucker's hitch on the other end for tension.
sounds good
Mule tape breaking strength (at least the brand I have) is 1800 pounds! Good stuff and lightweight.
yes it is
What about doing it with a bowline and a marlin spike?
You wouldn’t know what the minimum feet per roll they sell that stuff in , would you? Good to keep around the house.
Hey Mr Blackie.
Where did you get your very nice patina hat. Cheers Hans in tge uk.
I made it one year at a time had it since early 1990's
Blackie I'm in Millbrook area, arent u South Alabama?
yes down near dothan lower right corner of the state
I seem to remember reading/hearing somewhere that you can remove the slickness by soaking it for a few days? Does that ring a bell?
have not heard that but might just work
@@BLACKIETHOMAS it seems like UA-cam deleted my reply. I found the thread that I remembered. If you search "hammockforums mule tape soak" in Google you will find it. "Soak it in a bucket of water with TSP powder from the hardware store". They also talk about using liquid dish soap.
Im afraid knot!😳😎🤣
Hoho
lol
