Sailboat | Autodesk Maya + Substance 3D Painter

- In this video I create an old sailboat. I 3D modelled it using Autodesk Maya and textured it using Adobe Substance 3D Painter.
It was based off of a reference image from Elite 3D.
3D model, working files and a real-time video including the full UV mapping process available on my Patron.

I’ve actually been working on an old, New England style fishing village. I’m not very knowledgeable on boats/ships, so this will really help me to model a couple crusty, old boats to have in the water. Great vid!
You cant stop making 10/10 models man
😆
Another insane piece of art. Congrats on that one my friend. Keep up on the good work!
Thanks man! Appreciate the comment ☺
Your work is very impressive and the small intricate details you add gives so much depth visually and artistically! I enjoyed wacthing this video. Thank you

As always very good
Thank you! :D
*I hope you will make a video about the battleship creation process, I subscribed to your channel a long time ago*
Thank you for being a long term Subscriber! 😁 A battleship would be very cool, it’s definitely a larger model so I would need to make it when I have more time available. I’ll add it to the list 🙂
@@polyrendr *Thank you very much😘*

Amazing bro,i like your videos
Thanks! :)
In next video make a beautiful satellite 🛰️
Nice stuff dude, quick question. For those small portholes on the side and many other things, I've seen you duplicate objects and get it to retain the spacing from the original duplicate. Is that a duplicate special setting or a specific hotkey. Cant find it for the life of me.
shift+d, in all these years... what have i been doing lol
Such a game changer! Glad you found it and sorry for the late reply!
Hello
In Adobe Substance 3D Painter software, when I create a new paint layer and make changes in the Material section, those changes are applied to all existing paint layers.
Is there a way to prevent this situation so that a change in one paint layer does not change the settings and materials of the other paint layers?
Hello! I’m not exactly sure what you mean but the new layer you created is probably at the top of your layers so it’s being applied to everything. You may have to set that layer to a black mask and then apply it to whichever object or face in your scene you want that material applied to. Sorry if I’m not fully understanding!

Hello polyrender what is meant by game ready model can we add edge loop to game ready models or we just want to model and put in 1 . Then why we are doing edge loop and pressing 3 . I'm confused
For videogames the 3D assets need to be optimized for game engines. Usually this means using a HP/LP workflow - creating high poly model to create the texture maps and then a low poly model for in game (which you can project those HP details onto). I go over this a little bit in the video - so technically you would create two models (one HP and one LP that both share the same UV's). So to answer your question, edge loops are fine, but you want to keep the polys and texture maps as little as possible. Usually you can get away with using no bevels and minimal edge loops on the LP model, and then all the details from the HP model(nice bevels, etc.) can be transferred over to the LP model and hopefully will look very similar to the HP model once in game :)
@@polyrendr okk and how to transfer the details of hp to LP
