cool! Have not worked on anything similar so I can't really tell what the problem is by looking at it (2:31).Do you think it'd be possible to repaint the exterior once you remove the rust? The text may be difficult to replicate.
I just was cleaning it. So many parts are rusted and completely immobile that I’m not sure if I can actually restore it. However, I do find enjoyment in cleaning each piece one by one. Last night, I cleaned one side of the ribbon spool so that it can rotate. If I have time today, I plan to clean the other side of the ribbon spool and the typebar section, as the part with the typebar isn't moving at all.
@@AnaloguePapa Rip. I assumed so from how rusted it was, almost seems like some parts have been completely turned to rust.. i get it though, i always liked to take apart broken cheap electronics and fiddle around with the insides even if i wouldn't be able to use them. always eyed old typwriters on ebay but i didn't have the space or budget. Closest thing I got is mechanical keyboards but those are quite expensive too. One day I'll have a shed for all of my clutter, until then I'll stick to cracking open dead calculators in my studio apartment. Hope to see more stuff😄
