      #WHYNOT?
Income tax payers should have a choice.
When we pay income tax, the government could add that same amount to our PAN account. Then, when we buy things, we could use that amount to avoid paying GST (a tax on purchases), just like some companies do.
This would mean we wouldn’t have to pay extra taxes when shopping, allowing us to spend more money. This could help the economy grow.
If you like this idea, please share it and talk about it to help make this change happen!

It is popular in India to punish the middle and upper class by taxing "luxury goods"....Instead of thinking of them as consumers who are driving the engines of economy through their spending, we think of them just as a source of revenue for the government to exploit....ironically, their increased taxes lead to decreased consumption and actually decrease the ultimate tax collections.....but politicians and bureaucrats are always more interested in wealth redistribution rather than wealth creation....because even if it's less efficient for the country, it gives them more control and power.

Wow... That's your best piece I have heard.. when the KOLs (key opinion leaders) start talking about DOGE it's a matter of time... India needs to cut and cut drastically, but I am very sceptical as the kond of populism going around, opposition will hammer any govt which cuts sarkari jobs.. so difficult but much needed for the country... Otherwise corporate india will keep growing and the rest will stay at 2% growth....

The govt must make better roads and if they charge tolls, it means they've failed as a government and they must find a way to eliminate income tax, gst, taxes on any type of gains to justify the toll taxes. You have import tariffs, do what you will with that.

Corn cost Rs. 40 / kg, 50 grams of corn + little oil, salt & spices cost ~10 + labour & Reso costs..... Am still wonder the reason to charge ~500/ Popcorn in multiplexes & other places..

This Govt is only looking to increase revenue by any means and a very unimaginative FM like Nirmala depending on her Babus is the reason behind this sorry state of affairs... Modi must replace her immediately in the interest of BJP itself as their core vote banks in middle class salaried and senior citizens are quite dissatisfied with her tendency of squeezing this class all the time.

Govt in india, both centre and states, suffer from being understaffed. US govt has opposite problem, there are too many unnecessary posts while many essential posts remain vacant. We need to work on how taxes are designed and defined. Its interesting to see govt is deciding taxes on individual products. Which is complex and hectic process which may create unnecessary hurdle for small businesses. Why not implement tax on production and supply when its apparent that cost of production and process is being taxed. Which ideally needs to be paid by business owner. Customers shouldn't pay more than retail price.

Ministers should be assisted by officially nominated team of subject experts/professionals, who can go through the proposals of the bureaucrats and offer their suggestions to the Minister for taking a decision.
bureaucrats thwart any effort to reduce the size, as it would affect their career and promotional prospects.
Most of the cadre restructurings result in increase in cadre strength instead of looking into the need for a post and its strength in changed scenarios.
