Govt in india, both centre and states, suffer from being understaffed. US govt has opposite problem, there are too many unnecessary posts while many essential posts remain vacant. We need to work on how taxes are designed and defined. Its interesting to see govt is deciding taxes on individual products. Which is complex and hectic process which may create unnecessary hurdle for small businesses. Why not implement tax on production and supply when its apparent that cost of production and process is being taxed. Which ideally needs to be paid by business owner. Customers shouldn't pay more than retail price.
Sad situation, even small things require clarification from the cabinet minister and nothing is being done to simply GST laws, rules , inspite of all good intentions.
GST was packaged as simple. With all these taxation complexities, we give more power to tax officials as they are the ones who decide what is right and wrong. This is same as making the paper more tough and giving more opportunities to the examiner to fail students. This helps none
Doesn't the GST council decision is based on all the States response? Was this something that all the Sate accepted? If not then why are they not protesting on this? Or is it just responsibility of the Center? Please someone clarify me this
Ministers should be assisted by officially nominated team of subject experts/professionals, who can go through the proposals of the bureaucrats and offer their suggestions to the Minister for taking a decision. bureaucrats thwart any effort to reduce the size, as it would affect their career and promotional prospects. Most of the cadre restructurings result in increase in cadre strength instead of looking into the need for a post and its strength in changed scenarios.
Put GST on political funding. National party 50 percent. Local party : 42 percent. Local party in 2 states : 44 Lp in 3 states : 46 4 states: 48 National party with 2/3 states like Cong : 50+2*2 percent National party like BJP with 7/8 states: 50+2*8 = 66 percent.

So well explained with humour. God help us
Excellent analysis of popcorn imbroglio!
This FM had found a way of taking two steps forward but one step back . Has been happening quite regularly unfortunately
If you can't convince them, confuse them. 🎉🎉🎉
Brilliant Report
3:45 please do a detailed review of implementation on the ground of the funding for housing. Significant amount has to be paid out to the babus along the way for anyone to receive the funds in their accounts.
Wow... That's your best piece I have heard.. when the KOLs (key opinion leaders) start talking about DOGE it's a matter of time... India needs to cut and cut drastically, but I am very sceptical as the kond of populism going around, opposition will hammer any govt which cuts sarkari jobs.. so difficult but much needed for the country... Otherwise corporate india will keep growing and the rest will stay at 2% growth....
FM has gone nuts after I heard about GST on second hand car sales
The govt must make better roads and if they charge tolls, it means they've failed as a government and they must find a way to eliminate income tax, gst, taxes on any type of gains to justify the toll taxes. You have import tariffs, do what you will with that.
Indeed a nice episode
Fantastic effort!!
I’d really wish this was more to the point! So much of this Is trying to show of one’s knowledge.
One National, One Pop corn.
After a decade I heard the term called min. govt and max. govt.
Sahi hai gupta ji, if it falls right credit to government for risk taking and if flunks blame the bureaucracy
There is a perfect term for this from the history books of India - Tughalak Raaj!!!
As a common middle class, am worried about cost (Rs. 20/- costing popcorn sold at Rs 400/-), than the tax ! Tax is another pain :) applies to many products !!
Corn cost Rs. 40 / kg, 50 grams of corn + little oil, salt & spices cost ~10 + labour & Reso costs..... Am still wonder the reason to charge ~500/ Popcorn in multiplexes & other places..
Thank you for the video
8:02 300 crores is a huge number for a developing country like Bharat. Persentage should not be used just to make a statement.
its 50p per person per year !!
Congratulations! You should soon get an offer to work at the ministry of finance
Wonderful content
#WHYNOT?
Income tax payers should have a choice.
When we pay income tax, the government could add that same amount to our PAN account. Then, when we buy things, we could use that amount to avoid paying GST (a tax on purchases), just like some companies do.
This would mean we wouldn’t have to pay extra taxes when shopping, allowing us to spend more money. This could help the economy grow.
If you like this idea, please share it and talk about it to help make this change happen!
This Govt is only looking to increase revenue by any means and a very unimaginative FM like Nirmala depending on her Babus is the reason behind this sorry state of affairs... Modi must replace her immediately in the interest of BJP itself as their core vote banks in middle class salaried and senior citizens are quite dissatisfied with her tendency of squeezing this class all the time.
Next on the list -
Tea with Salt biscuit - 5% GST
Tea with Rusk - 12% GST
Tea with Croissant - 18% GST .. waah wahh..
Shame on GST Council members to make things complex. And more discussions required for health insurance which is very important
When GST collection is on the increasing trend, there is no point in increasing GST. People should not be taken for granted
Just to provide some context, it would have been great to talk about the tax exempted annual sales from CSD canteens for goverment employees - first class citizens
Best show
Govt in india, both centre and states, suffer from being understaffed.
Good coverage, can the system reform?
Sad situation, even small things require clarification from the cabinet minister and nothing is being done to simply GST laws, rules , inspite of all good intentions.
Everything in yes minister can be quoted for every government in every part of the world😂😂
True
Not many people realise that nowdays flavoured popcorn has become a FMCG product which many big cororates involved
India needs a Javier Milei
Indians love socialism
How GST is charged on Health and term plan?
Forex reserved Kitna hai?
Everything in India has to be pushed to its limits. Modi's unique contribution is that he has mastered the art of hammering things in to the system
Please someone clarify me this
Gst was made for easy taxation…and it has not fulfilled that in so many years
Ministers should be assisted by officially nominated team of subject experts/professionals, who can go through the proposals of the bureaucrats and offer their suggestions to the Minister for taking a decision.
bureaucrats thwart any effort to reduce the size, as it would affect their career and promotional prospects.
Most of the cadre restructurings result in increase in cadre strength instead of looking into the need for a post and its strength in changed scenarios.
You are very generous with the Modi Government.
Put GST on political funding.
National party 50 percent.
Local party : 42 percent.
Local party in 2 states : 44
Lp in 3 states : 46
4 states: 48
National party with 2/3 states like Cong : 50+2*2 percent
National party like BJP with 7/8 states: 50+2*8 = 66 percent.
Why can't we have one rate of 15% and a +13% for luxury and -13% for essentials or stuff we have zero rated.
but this argument is totally true.......why so much convoluted laws????
