Yeah it seems to be a mix of both nature and nurture. Your genetics play a big part in who you are when you're born, but how you're raised can mould that. This is most evident in nen affinity 'stereotypes'. Enhancers are simple minded/straight forward, specialists are highly intelligent (Chrollo, Kurapika, etc), and so on. Which has real life parallels in personality and genetics.
@@nekitaroyamaoto2135the two work far too hand in hand for the weight people put on it in most cases, but on a professional psychoanalytic level it is insanely important actually. I'm about to marry a psych major so trust me I've heard alot about it. One example of an important distinction we all know about. The Dexter Morgan effect. If you're exposed to extreme trauma at a young age you're a lot more likely to replicate it cause you've been desensitized.
@@nekitaroyamaoto2135 The oven is quite important in making a cake. I wouldn't say it's 'more' important, but you can't really make a cake without one (or similar device). If you just have the ingredients, you don't have a cake, do you? If you use something other than an oven to make the cake, like say, the thrusters from a space shuttle, you also don't have a cake, you have a smear of ash. Both the ingredients and the method are what make a cake. You can also use the same ingredients to make something else, not even a cake. Personally I'd say I'm quite a well made banana cupcake; what about you?
@@nekitaroyamaoto2135 yeah but if something goes wrong with the cake, you can diagnose the problem as resulting from something being wrong with either the ingredients or the cooking process. Is it burned? Cooking problem. Is it not sweet? Ingredient issue. Same thing is something goes wrong with a person. You can ask to what degree is this the fault of their genetics vs their upbringing.
I would imagine that Nen affinities could be influenced by genetics in similar way that proficiency/efficiency is. Like, A Enhancer has a higher probability of having Enhancer children but he also has decent probabilities of having Emitter children and Transmuters children, but lower than Enhancer, and even lower probabilities of having manipulators or conjurers children.
And yet, he s-cks at a Nen-User. Clearly the Worst out of his Group. Hilarious he didnt inherit anything that makes you usually a good Nen-User: Intellect, Creativity, ect. I always laughed at the fact Killua has more from Ging than Gon
@@slevinchannel7589I think that was togashi’s intention. When Gon was first learning nen, his instinct was to use zetsu. He probably has a zetsu specialist ability but he was called stupid for putting it on display (heavens arena) so he went into manipulator training. I’m sure that if the hxh world wasn’t created to breed the perfect rival for netero, Gon would be a specialist with a zetsu ability, similar to prince tserri.
Its more likely its influenced by environment. Gon and Ging got a free development in nature to explore and be genuine. Killua and his family is a repressive hyper concerned development and you either become gifted becoming fickle and uncaring or hyper conscious and tense as to the family goals and rules. Potentially a result of the way the mother raises them. Its nuture not nature Also i will die on the hill of zoldyck patriarcs origonally being intended as transmuters but togashi forgot. It makes way more sense given what we actually see of the abilities and the trend on the manipulator side.
I think your Nen type is 100% genetic (although not everything you're born with is a result of genes since you are after all at the mercy of your mother's womb for 9 months), but that doesn't necessarily mean two Enhancers will have all Enhancer children, because they most likely have a whole splattering of genes which push and pull them in different directions, and heritability is mostly random, so it's possible you might inherit all the non-Enhancer genes and none of the Enhancer genes. It's not impossible for it to work that way. It might not, only Togashi knows for sure.
Can you make a video about the scene in the ant arc where the palace invasion starts, and it shifts to a scene where Zeno is in a room talking to someone about Netero's strength. Who was Zeno talking to?
It'd be the same question as "is your personality determined by genetics" and in real life I would say "mostly no". But, this is a fictional story, one that makes use of romantic themes, and one where the "soul" is confirmed to exist. So, in this particular scenario, I would say genetics matter for at least 50%.
Apparently, about 50% of your personality is genetic, but one thing to note is your genetics are not just a pool of your parents per se but of your entire family tree.
It's rather that talent is influenced by genetics, nen itself is a mixture of nature and nurture as you still have to put in alot of hard work and training as with the case with netero
I think Genetics dictate how much potential and nen capacity while affecting 30 to 50 of your nen type the other is nurture and so if a father with enhancer raises their son their personality will be closer so the nen type will be closer
We have a few different variables to consider here: Nen affinity (the power you are most gifted at using) Power (The technique you develop using Nen) Nen affinity is genetic in the sense you are born with it and it is fixed but we don’t know how these genetics work in terms of inheritance. They could be random example enhancer + specialist = transmitter child. Or it could just be a random assignment in each child. Power is character based, this is where desire and upbringing play a part in the power you develop. Killua was tortured a lot using electricity and developed an affinity to it. If killua was a manipulator he may have instead learn to manipulate electrical currents.
@@Kotasake its the literal explanation kite gives, they use the humans genetics in order to be born, that is why they get inteligent, bipedal, start speaking and start using nen.
@L.Israel.A no incorrect. They were being born before they ate the humans. It's their chimera DNA that allowed them to take nen and other human aspects. It's kinda the definition of their name.
My mom, dad, child and her mother are all Manipulation types. I'm a Transmutor and happen to have a remarkably different personality than the rest of my family. My brother is a Conjurer and is a little bit less different to them than me but notably is cautious and somewhat uptight. I think it's similar to Nurture vs. Nature where it's all a part of personality and environment and/or genetics can come in to play. I'm saying this solely as a nerd who believes Nen is real lol
Every creature has aura so any creature should be able to do nen but not every creature can have very high aura outputs, one example i think you should have mentioned is meruem, guy was literally carried all by genetics and became stronger than old netero which surpassed his biological limits by training earlier in his life. I think its like a muscle everyone can train it and beco e stronger but your ability to grow the muscle and become stronger is dictated by genetics so genetics peobably still put a cap into your potential which will be very hard to cross through training (how netero did)
I have a question. Would someone be able to have the same hatsu as someone else? I know your hats is based on your new affinity and your personality and whatnot but if two people were born with the same affinity and went through the same upbringing etc, would they both have the same nen ability or is it alays different between different people?
I feel as though there is a trend when it comes to 'talented' nen users Gon, Killua, Ging, Tserridnich and Kurapika they either come from a lineage of skilled nen users or for Kurapika's case he has the scarlet eyes to fall back on It's only Chrollo, Machi and Komugi who are really the anomalies and don't come from this lineage of skilled nen users
I honestly feel like Killua and especially Tserri are more of a counter example for nen potential being inheritable more than anything, since they are very explicitly the exceptions in their family. All of Killua's siblings, besides Alluka for obvious reasons, seem pretty average at nen. And while yeah, Zeno and Silva are extremely powerful nen users, we have to keep in mind that they, as the clan heads, were selected out from their own respective "batch of Zoldyck's" as the ones with the most potential. And in Tserri's case, again, even more explicitly, he's the only one out of 11(?) of Nasubi's kids (discouting Maryam and Wobble because we realistically wouldn't know there) remotely that talented in nen. Surely if it was genetic you'd expect more consistency?
@user-zz3sn8ky7zI agree with this, also the thing that makes the family so terrifying as well is the fact they’re very powerful without nen, trained at an early age and nen, so even tho they maybe average nen users (illumi seemingly isn’t because hisoka wants to fight him and he’s a decent test of strength) they’re most likely above an average person on that alone
@user-zz3sn8ky7zhuh???? killua is top tier, Illumi is top tier and Kalluto is a spider as a literal child. Silva and Zeno are also both even stronger than that and then there’s the dark continent exploring Maha and Zigg. The only average Zoldyc is the fat one and the mom… and the mom isn’t a real one.
Genetics are not to proved be a factor. Being born as a particular affinity doesn't mean it comes from genetics. It could just come about from the soul of the individual, which is not affected by genetics.
It’s pretty clearl that your ability to skilled at nen is genetic. Nen type? Probably not. The freecs family are all nen geniuses basically, Gon could use nen without even knowing what it was, Ging is considered a top 5 user and Don is literally on the dark continent. The zoldycs, Neteros and Kakin are other examples of powerful nen families.
Of course ging and gon are the strongest nen potential in the series because their frecess bloodline. Than zoldyck bloodline and netereo as these are only bloodlines to survive dark continent other than that old lady we know nothing about.
Emperor time couldn’t be a genetic or clan specific ability. The scarlet eyes are. and having them active was the condition for kurapika to be able ti use his men however he wanted to create hatsu. Thats why i like the scarlet eyes and Nen better than the sharingan and chakra. There could be tons of unique abilities that only have the eyes as a condition
So are you saying if say the predetermined affinity of someone is enhancement, it could change in the future to maybe conjuration due environmental factors and what not???
