@mrclean247365 maybe you can find a wiring diagram online. If not I would put a volt meter on that terminal and see if you get power when you turn the key on just to make sure
@mrclean247365 I got to thinking you can jump pin to pin with the cluster out to see if it works without cutting any wires. And then worst case you just blow a fuse. Remember when you go to try it half to have key on
Wanted to say thanks for the video it helped me out. My truck had been doing that for the past year thank you so much just now used your method it works great
I was having the same problem. I tried your fix. So far it has cured the dead radio, guages, and windows but has caused other problems. Speedometer doesnt work now and OD light on gear shifter flashes off and on. I'm guessing my problem must have been different. Back to the drawing board.
That od light flashing is a transmission code not sure on the speedometer they are usually a manual cable that runs them. Maybe your wiring was a little different on your harness ?
Check Your speed sensor closest to rear of trans. Check the codes. If the speed sensor is bad the Speedometer wont work and it will set a trans code that is when your OD button LED starts to flash.
You can fix the problem all together resoldering the pins on he backside of the cluster. The solder cracks around the pins and that is why banging on the dash gets it to work again. The banging allows the pins to make contact. I resoldered mine 4 years ago and haven’t had anymore problems.
I checked mine and all the pins look fine and don't move. This will be my last resort. Really don't want to spend $200 to get the pins resoldered. Truck is an 03 with 116k miles. It's getting worse by the week. Banging doesn't even work anymore.
@@TripletDadLife mine looked perfectly fine before I soldered it. It’s thought that the solder joints were somewhat cold joints upon manufacturing and eventually the vibrations cause the problems.
@@davidshelby4534 I watched a vid of a guy that repairs the them. He showed the solder process through his magnifier. The cracks in the solder can't be seen with the naked eye. Almost every repair he makes, he claims involves a battery saver relay
Thank you so much! Thought I was going in the right direction buying a new circuit breaker for the windows, but no luck there. Your idea is the most efficient!
My 2002 ford f150 had same issue. I was told to check my interior box fuses. A fuse will indicate its good but in reality it’s no good. Check the metal part of the fuse, if it has small circular/square burn marks on the metal, the fuse is no good.
Hey thanks this worked for me for 2 years but recently this hack stopped working. The gage cluster stopped working altogether except the abs and battery light. My windows won’t roll up and was hoping you can help me in order to get my windows rolled up
Super nice video Paul, but what year truck is this? Because I think this only works on the 02-03 and up trucks because the internal CJB fuse box and Instrument Panels are very different from earlier years. The 99 and earlier get power from the CJB connector 242a pin 10 Lt. Blue/Black wire. If you have a 99 & earlier and you're having problems with it being intermittent, check the Accessories Relay on the bottom left corner, or the back connector pins on the drivers side bottom side for corrosion. You'll have to disconnect the batteries and pull the fuse panel, but don't worry the connectors only go on one way. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Thanks for the video, but my 99 f250 Lariiat is different behind the cluster. I have two white plugs of three total. The plugs are a single row and not double stacked. I see a gree/yellow wire, but that is all the video helps. Any 9ne have a solution for me?
No problem Alan. And just cut the green yellow wire off. Don't cut the black pink wire just shave a 1/4 inch or so of the casing off to expose the copper. Skin off a good inch or so of the yellow green wite end and wrap it on the exposed spot on the black/pink wire
So I had a crazy acting RPM gauge, so I bought a used cluster off eBay, same part number etc. that’s when my issues with the dome light stopped working and my windows and radio goes in and out randomly and the windows and radio would stay on after I shut off the car for some time. So I just switched back to my old cluster back in, everything works like normal again, but the rpm gauge is acting crazy. So I just tried his fix using the new cluster that isn’t right, I don’t have dome lights but my radio and windows work and they shut off with the key vers before his fix, they would stay on for a while even after I shut off the car and left. So there’s something in the cluster that controls it all, doing this fix just by passes just windows and radio. ( at least for me) Mine is. 2003 ford f-350. I see a lot of comments about 99-01 not working, but then years didn’t have the battery saving rely built into cluster. I believe there’s a control box for that under the radio in firewall.
Great video! Quick question, what 3xactly is causing this problem? Is it bad solder joints on the instrument cluster? Relay? If it's the relay.... is it part of the instrument cluster?
It is a part on the cluster. Sometimes it's any easy fix. Just cracked solder joint you can heat up and melt back together. Mine unfortunately must have been the what i would also assume relay of some sort.
@@paulmanganelli8366 from what I researched and found a cluster repair tech willing to show what almost every repair involved was what's called a battery saver relay.
Hey brother the green with yellow either is the 12 volt ignition wire or the wire that feed ignition to Windows and radio. If you haven't figured it out yet tell me your year and model and ill pull up a diagram for your truck and let you know
I fixed mine, by wedging a 3.5 iPhone adapter between the blue plug and cluster lens. It pushes the plug down, on the right hand side. It's a quick fix, no splice. Almost like the circuit board has issues. 07 f250
Right now I'm in Connecticut and with the wind chill it is 10 below zero I rolled my window down at the Dunkin' donuts drive-thru I just had to drive 80 miles down 395 and 95 with that window down because it wouldn't go back up and man is it cold it seems like the colder it is the less it wants to work normally the gauges and windows would have turned back on for at least a couple minutes but in this situation I can't even see how much gas I got the cluster in the windows have officially not worked for over an hour looks like I'll be hooking up to pin 19
Hoping this will work on my Ford 500 Limited. Having a problem with my windows and radio. No power to fuses 13 and 15 either side. Fuses look fine. Checked the 30A circuit breaker fuse and it's fine. Also the 80 Amp supply fuse from under the hood is good. Thinking it must be the accessory delay relay. That entire circuit quit on me.

Another way is to plug a powered jumper wire into the #306 relay in the fuse panel
This worked for me thanks!!!
Thanks for the video, but my 99 f250 Lariiat is different behind the cluster. I have two white plugs of three total. The plugs are a single row and not double stacked. I see a gree/yellow wire, but that is all the video helps.
Any 9ne have a solution for me?
Wow, thank you so much!....can you tell me how to cut the green/yellow wire and attach it to pin 19?
No problem Alan. And just cut the green yellow wire off. Don't cut the black pink wire just shave a 1/4 inch or so of the casing off to expose the copper. Skin off a good inch or so of the yellow green wite end and wrap it on the exposed spot on the black/pink wire
THANKS TO GOD that I was led to find you. It really worked! I had problems with taking radio our but wire solution worked. God Bless You.
Gonna try it hopefully it fixes my problem
Life saver great video
thank you !! for the video iwill fix it my truck now
Another one fixed up thanks
Solved the issue. Thanks so much.
Glad it helped you out
god bless you for this upload!
worked great!!! thank you for this video
( at least for me)
Mine is.
Do the wire fix. Cluster on this 02 was done already once, wire fix is permanent and free.
Going to try this tomorrow. 4 years plus 3 broken dash bezel’s and a lot of cussing later. I’ll update y’all tomorrow!
Good luck brother. Hopefully your fist will get a break after today lol
Was so happy to see this video, went to tried it. But cluster still totally dead. Where is the green with yellow feeding too?
Hey brother the green with yellow either is the 12 volt ignition wire or the wire that feed ignition to Windows and radio. If you haven't figured it out yet tell me your year and model and ill pull up a diagram for your truck and let you know
Interesting, thank you!
Saved me man thanks for the video
Glad it helped you out brother
Worked like a champ 👍
Glad it helped you out brother
Glad it helped you brother
You the man bro thank you
Thanks for the comment
Thanks man greatly appreciate it
Hoping this will work on my Ford 500 Limited.
I have the same problem, did you ever figure it out?
