I'm surprised no steelers fans, sports analysts, etc thought about what the Steelers were up to when they first traded for Fields. They had already signed Wilson. That should have told people that the Steelers were up to something. Their plan all along was to give both QB's playing time in real games this season to see what both QB's can bring to the table and do for the team. Both playing was all planned. They need to see if either QB will work out for them and to see if either can be their QB after 2024. How will they get their answers if only one starts games? Tomlin's only decision was that Russ was up first but he was injured so Justin was up first. If Russ had started first, they still would be making a change at some point to see Justin play. They got to see Justin for 6 games and now they want to see what Russ can do. Tomlin had tried to be as quiet as possible about their plans. This is an experimental year at QB for the Steelers and it didn't cost them much to do it. This is the route that the Steelers chose to go at the QB position this season
