hey mate ! I know you probably won’t see this but I just want to say that, your one of the many people that inspire me fishing wise to get me to where I am now. I seen your video ages back and I’m like I wanna be like him so I started a UA-cam channel and made a trout video to start up with lol. But thankyou, I’m sure u inspire so many people around the country. Keep up the good work 😊 and they are freaking huge snapper lol
Another great video Sammy. Awesome tips on the lures! I am fixing up my boat at the moment and can't wait to get out there and catch some fish when I'm done!
You rippa another Sammy Hitzke fishing video I wish I had ya weather went out far today but was not good no fish but the bloke next to me pulled up 2 monster kings🍺🍺🎣🐟
Another great show mate. I catch a very similar Gurnard in Victoria and treat the fillets as if they were flathead fillets, very good eating. I’ve also been using the same decor tub (smaller unit with a vacuum seal lid) and as soon as the fillets come off the fish they’re in the tub then in the fridge in the boat, it’s bloody brilliant. I also keep wasabi and soy in the boat too - just in case 🍽🎣🍺🍺🍺🇦🇺
Gday Sammy, vlogs are off hook i love ya work man... Been max'n out on my data watching as many of you're edits as I can to stay sane during these crazy times. It would be an understatement to say that you've been instrumental in keeping me entertained during the "rona blues..." Mate quick question, have you got a track ID for that background music you play during cleaning you're catch. Loved the vibes and keen to find out the artist and song... Keep up the good wrk there bruv, yewww
Great vid as usual this week mate. On the sashimi front, I always like to alternate between in/out of dipping. That way you can really get the taste of the fish without being swamped by zing, zang and salt.
Man, that snapper is thick! would've been around 80cm? slow jigging is so much fun, gurnard are quite good for sashimi, long-fin big eye looks like a delicacy, well done as always Sammy!
Hey Legend, We used to catch and cook up gurnard back home in NZ. Start at the tail cut under dorsal fin up to back of neck, cut down to backbone. Use a rag holding its head pulling it down breaking its neck, then put your finger into gut cavity pulling down towards the tail . Skins it and Guts it all in one. Then with your filleting skills Wip them off. 🍻🍻
Sammy, another great video ... THANK YOU. Are you running any shock leader to the Jig? If so, what approx size? length? swivel? how is it tied on? If not, how is it tied on? swivel? Thanks in advance, Mal
Mal Missingham g’day Mal I did a little tackle run through about half way through the video that should cover all those question. Braid straight to 40lb leader to the jig 👍
My wife would be horrified to hear Decor Tupperware container in the same sentence. Loved the episode mate, caught a 12kg snapper down here last year before all this covid stuff.
Hey sammy, I know it's a stretch, I'm sure you get offers all the time, I'm nothside brisbane based and work shiftwork so I'm often available during the week if you need a deckie, I also have some skills on the camera. Cheers keep the great content coming.
The last fish you filleted in New Zealand is called a Gurnard or walking fish or carrot or sea robin but most people call them Gurnard and are the easiest to fillet and one of the best eating fish next to Snapper and John dory.
We get the same gurnard in South Africa. It's a species of the kingklip, doesn't have a lot of meat on it but one of the nicest eating fish fried in batter.
That's so crazy how that fish looks. It looks exactly like our Red Snapper but with a bull dolphin head on it! I am sure it's related to our Reds but that damn bull dolphin head is goofy as hell! Tight lines mate from ATL Ga 😎👍👍🇺🇸
Hey Sammy, really liked those impromptu 'gear you are using' intermissions...don't get me wrong this fishing action is on point as usual, but the odd video with that content and in that way is very interesting.
Try to marinate just in lemon for 5 min, whole file, not in chucks, then in ice water to stop "cooking" and then slice it and deep it in that souce, nice video and nice snapper ;-)
Sammy Hitzke Fishing 😂😂😂😂 She’s a special net folded in half extend the pole and click it in while holding the rod with the other hand that’s all after you have located it which seems to be in different locations every episode 😂😂😂
Hey mate.. always a thumbs up. Could you throw up abit of footage of the cruise home on your boat. For those who dont have boats that part is still heaps exiting.. Legend
Nice deepwater critters!! How big was that snapper? Would have been good to find out what was in that massive gut... I actually use a similar mixture for my sashimi...soy, sesame oil, sugar, lemon or lime juice and chilli flakes...give it a go...you may be pleasantly surprised...
boostjunky24 hey mate, his guts were full of Milt and fat! He was a big bull looking for a few female snapper 😏😏 Sounds nice mate I’ll have to give it a try 🍻🍻
Been hitting the deep trying for flamies and bar cod. Cannot manage anything other than green eye sharks and the odd sharp head perch. Any tips??? Burning 180 odd litres of fuel every attempt and just catching those green-eyed-try-to-stab-ya-cnts is a bit of a downer! Sounding up a lot of activity but yeah....
When you're preparing the Sashimi, do you do any checks for cysts for parasites just in case? I know its incredibly rare and probably a dumb question but I have heard that snap freezing fish can kill any if they have them, hopefully not to much cell destruction from this... any tips or tricks here?
hey sammy what brand of braid are you using? im running a very similar outfit with pe 1.7 sunline pe jigger braid and have had trouble with it breaking in odd places. looking at respooling my 1500 jigger. thanks
Captain's Fishing I haven’t on my boat mate, but have on other people’s boat. Personally I’d rather just not catch them then bring them up and send them back down on a weight. No good for them at all 👍
Happy Sunday mad dogs! How’s the guts on that big red! Absolute beast of a thing! Question: What’s your favorite jig for snapper and pearlies??
Should try catch and cook spangled snapper
My latest video i got a stonka pearly 100mtrs down on a silver 150grm jig wish I new what it was but I lost to probably a big red next drop🤙😭🍻
The savage octopus
Hello, what is the rod you were using when yo caught the snapper in the begging of the video.
Disregard my question. I watched further and saw that you covered this.
Anyone else's Sunday just get brightened by the Hitzke vibe? Best go get me a rum and sit down 🤙

Cracking video Sammy, Gurnard make for some great chewing! Nice to fillet to for the fact they don’t have scales. 🍻🍻

hi sammy . thats a big snapp, love how you fish, watching from NZ,
I have an overhead spinner like yours, do you have to feed it as it reels in? It doenst have a line feeder built in..

Clint Rzoska thanks mate! I’ll try and do it like that a bit more often. It’s more thorough then out on the boat 👌🍻🍻
Try to marinate just in lemon for 5 min, whole file, not in chucks, then in ice water to stop "cooking" and then slice it and deep it in that souce, nice video and nice snapper ;-)

Aussfish 🤣🤣 sooner or later it will stitch me up, but for now it’s a tradition to leave it not set up and in a pain in the ass spot to get too 🤣🍻🍻
Sammy Hitzke Fishing 😂😂😂😂 She’s a special net folded in half extend the pole and click it in while holding the rod with the other hand that’s all after you have located it which seems to be in different locations every episode 😂😂😂
Great video once again Sammy, very informative. Have one of these jigs to try, but just wondering what size assist hooks you find work the best ?
Amazing video
Need to put that long fin on your wall! He looks badass!👍😂😂
Good day out sammy.

hey mate where abouts in queensland do you fish any good spots or recommendations
Find your own spots bugger
can i ask sammy, ive got the 1500pg for slow pitching, why are you running a higher gear ratio? because you want to get them up fast?
When you're preparing the Sashimi, do you do any checks for cysts for parasites just in case? I know its incredibly rare and probably a dumb question but I have heard that snap freezing fish can kill any if they have them, hopefully not to much cell destruction from this... any tips or tricks here?
Yeah mate definitely keep and eye out for all that stuff 👍👍 nasty if you eat them raw!
Nice vid mate. How would eat that large snapper you caught first up? Given the meat is usually pretty tough. I can only think a solid red/green curry?
John I’ve never had a problem with it being tough to be honest mate, I just eat it the same as I would any snapper 👍👍
Those gurnards. You can fillet them by peeling back the head the whole frame peels out. Check out how they do it to Nz gurnard
hey sammy what brand of braid are you using? im running a very similar outfit with pe 1.7 sunline pe jigger braid and have had trouble with it breaking in odd places. looking at respooling my 1500 jigger. thanks

The gurnard would have made a cool wall addition.
Hey sammy u tried release weights or releasing bladder pressure ?
Captain's Fishing I haven’t on my boat mate, but have on other people’s boat. Personally I’d rather just not catch them then bring them up and send them back down on a weight. No good for them at all 👍
