- What have I got myself into? I just wanted to take a ride into the Albanian Mountains, the Theth National Park! I didn’t know that I soon will find myself on the infamous K1 Route.
The K1 route in Albania has gained a reputation for being one of the most scenic but also one of the most dangerous roads in Europe. The road is known for its narrow and winding turns, steep inclines and declines, and lack of guardrails in some sections. In addition, the road can become treacherous during bad weather conditions or in the winter months when snow and ice can make driving particularly hazardous. Despite the risks, the K1 is still a popular destination for adventure seekers and tourists who want to experience the stunning scenery of the Albanian Alps.

Man, These power Lines😅 Sensors don’t Pick up on them so I was super lucky I didn’t hit them. It was a hard day but it feels good to know I got through 🙌🏼
A tremendously difficult demonstration of how reliable the e-bike is, with no exhaust noise, just such amazing view, you can hear only the Nature sounds... Just perfect. All the best for both you, ride safely.

You did not post anything for three days and we were very concerned about your well been. Please post a short video everyday so we know you are ok. We don't know which way you are going, but if you enter Greece from Albania we recommend crossing at "Tre urat" ne Permet. Stop in Permet for food and drinks and you will not be disappointed. The ride from Permet to Greek boarder is great as well. We wish you well and hopefully we meet one day on the road.

Aw! Marc you had my heart in my mouth riding the rough road with those precipitous drops just beside you! I dropped my petrol bike in a very slippery muddy puddle at the weekend and broke the front brake lever right off. I had to ride 70 miles back home. Not much fun! I agree with everything you say about living with electric. Mine is a 2020 model like yours and I did know it has a broken battery when I bought it. I should get the new one soon, which I'm told will be 17.3kw hours, so looking forward to that, but in the meantime lovin' my SR/F more and more especially as the weather is getting a bit better in the UK. Rock on mate and I hope you are warmed through now.. 🙂

OMG!!! After going to mountain via a medieval "high" way.. ( awesome drone shot though! ), then snow! I was just watching and i was exhausted!! LOL... the part going over the lime stone sand toward the end of the trail (because that was not a road!) , I could feel it... I am not much of an off road guy, but it was nice scenery! Glad you made it without any incident or troubles with EVE...

Nice work! I do the same type of terrain with my Honda cb500. Maybe not quite as rough or as long of a trip but I definitely take it where most people don’t take their street bikes! I love exploring and as long as I feel comfortable, I’ll keep going. It’s like you said too. You just have to relax and stay focused.

Ich schreib mal in deutsch. Also, wenn du die Strecke geschafft hast, dann ist das Stück vom Osum Canyon bis Permët ein Spaziergang! YT ist voll mit Videos von der Teth Strecke. Vielleicht mal vorher gucken? 😅

Und ja, in Albanien lässt sich auf Maps nicht erkennen, ob die Straße Asphalt hat. Landstraßen sind harte Offroad Pisten wo die Einheimischen tatsächlich mit normalen Autos rumkurven.
Und noch was zum Thema E Mobilität und Umwelt: im Moment ist es eine feine Sache und schön, dass die Natur nicht verpestet wird. Aber schaut man genauer, dann ist die Frage: wie wird der Strom produziert? Was geschieht mit den kaputten Akkus?
Für die E Mobilität werden haufenweise neue Fahrzeuge produziert und die alten?? Es stehen schon zig E Autos iwo rum, weil es zu teuer ist den Akku zu ersetzen. Es ist einfach nicht zuende gedacht und in meinen Augen geht es in erster Linie darum, dass es ein florierender Wirtschaftszweig ist. Die Bozen stopfen sich die Taschen voll und die, die darunter leiden gucken in die Röhre.
Wenn E Mobilität nachweislich ökologisch und humanitär besser ist als Verbrenner steige ich sehr gern um. Aber so nicht !

Wow! I hope you have recovered a bit from that cold Marc! What an amazing ride AND video! This was a very very hard ride for rider and bike. You showed it can be done with this bike although it would not have been on the list I guess. And then we have to think about what you have to do to make this AWESOME video for us, stopping every time, flying the drone going back and forth or how you do it. Glad the drone didn't crash on those power lines. I hope you tell us in the next video how Maree responded to the video ;-) I hope this video get lots of views and maybe even go viral. I think it's safe to say that, whether you're on the tarmac or not, Eve is truely an adventure bike now!
At least the river crossings were a good opportunity to give her a clean too, hehe. Hope you both got warmed and charged up ready for the next adventure ;)
You could have gotten a reaction video out of Maree watching your crazy day into the mountains but I imagine she wouldn't have been too happy with you! At least she wasn't following you in the Jimny, although that would've made it no problem I don't think Maree's nerves would have :D

Just brilliant Marc. The no fuss way Eve handled all that rocky stuff was super impressive. No wheel spin, just smooth movement. And my left hand was aching just watching, thinking of all the clutch slip I'd be doing to get up the steep bits. Question... Do you own any microfibre base layers? A good one of those and a lightweight rain coat would have kept you a bit warmer and dont take up too much room in the back pack.! Great drone footage, too.

A friend and I were to ride the SH21 from Skhoder to Theth on a BMW R1150 and Guzzi 1200 Sport, as we were told it was possible. After reading a number of reviews, it seemed the best way was one of the 4x4 taxi's. They were right, it would be impossible on our bikes. Odd that at our accommodation, someone had managed to drive a Nissan Micra up there.
A beautiful country (hope you go on the Koman ferry to Fiera), and wonderfully friendly people. Totally unexpected.
