I felt like I lost a family member at the end of season 4.
So true I had to cry when she played the freakn voice mail of him saying he wanted to marry her because he envied her determination and perseverance and wanted his kids to have that. That was so beautiful.

I literally cried about it in therapy. No joke. It was like losing someone you know in real life.
“I look at her, she smiles at me and I feel stuff” oh my ... and in another interview when he says Enrico was crying in the wedding scene and said “you really look in love” he seems to really really care.. that’s beautiful!
I’m heartbroken by the finale, haven’t stopped crying every time I see him.
Rob gave us something beautiful after so many years and then just took it away.. that’s not ok!

I'm probably just in the denial phase of my grief but I don't trust anything that happens off-camera. Logan lives on, even if it's just my current coping mechanism. Jason is an incredible actor; he made Logan seem so real. HE LIVES ON.

I get Rob wanted the Veronica character to grow, but she's had death in her life. Anger. Loss. The more interesting growth would have been the one she's was handeling. Not letting anger drive her. Not self sabotaging. Trying to be happy. Before she could blame her anger. When Logan got his shit togheter, she couldn't. How do you do good not out of revenge but from an healthy place. What about trying to be mom and working stake outs. Being married when you spend all day seeing people cheat. There are so many new story lines that would allow them to dig deeper into the character of Veronica.
Killing Logan and setting her on a new path alone didn't move her story forward. It moved it back. Back to the place where the story began, that first scene when Lilly had died and she had nobody but her dad. And that's just boring. Or at least lazy.

From a writing perspective, it IS lazy to have ended S4 the way RT did.
Veronica is going to be doing the same as always now.
Marriage is complicated & amazing & difficult and she could have grown immensely with that added facet to her life.
We know she's not leaving Neptune bc of Keith & bc RT said so.
So exactly what situations will she be placed in that are oh so different than what we've already viewed? Who will she date - tourists?
We know V can't be happy & do what she does. Everyone involved w making the show agrees with that idea, so let's go with it.
Say Logan had lived...
Would she automatically be 'happy'
V's best friend was murdered, which ultimately caused her parents to split up & made her an outcast. Said friend was her first love's sister (&for a bit, V was also meant to be his sister, as well -thankfully that changed but it was still in the show as an idea). Best friend's ex bf's dad killed her; they were having a sordid affair. V then dates best friend's ex bf after everything truly goes to complete shit. These are only bits of what happens S1)
She made her way through that & so much worse. We know she can do it. Hell, she can do basically anything, right?
Thing is, tragedy isn't the only thing that makes ppl grow.
Incredible people/characters can teach others so much & their differences, + the process of changing can create problems.
L had become a great person & certainly was a huge influence over the years.
V wouldn't be herself without him.
But, even w him as someone positive (who isn't Keith), marriages have issues. And theirs certainly would!
Two independent people (who have each been thru hell & have horrible marriage/relationship examples in their lives, which = trust issues) who try to hold in anger that tends to explode at the wrong times, Ummm, that does NOT the typical American family make.
Two ppl w jobs that keep them away physically or emotionally, or even both.
Trying a completely different life, w each other bc they're the only ones who truly understand the other (Not bc they're ruined for anyone else, as I've seen ppl claim). Their love is true, intense & -dare I say - epic..., &it would add so much dimension to V's character. It would be something we haven't seen her struggle w before, not in such an extreme way...
No way in hell they would end up like Wallace & his wife bc they are L&V!
They are actually a couple who have been apart for actually more than the "nine yrs of radio silence" (bc Piz).
We know what her life was like without Logan. Not interesting.
So how is his death going to make SUCH a difference?
It's not.
RT has said he wants Veronica to be the first female detective to come to mind. He wants anything HS-esque Gone from the show. Which, okay, she's 35 & that's fair. But she's still going to date & it'll all prob disappoint her in ways that do Not lead to growth.
RT wants V to grow in her career, not in her life or as a person.
Which sucks. He's killing off a giant portion of what makes her good at her job (or rather, become great) just so he can get to the big picture w "his" character.
Selfish & lazy.
That's the bottom line.
'LoVe' building a real life together and showing all the growth that marriage & ur 30s & growing in your career is what the fans deserve.
And ofc that scenario wouldn't Magically make V happy, bc of her past & the cases she'll handle & the danger she'll no doubt be in.
And what if Keith gets sick or hurt...?
Logan could, & would, give her a Sliver of happiness + a much better chance for growth vs. the boring situation with L truly gone & not really anyone in her life other than her dad. (I feel that situation could potentially break V down the road).
I see nothing wrong with giving an adored character a tiny slice of happiness to keep her going.
And then all that Logan did, as far as growth, wouldn't have been solely for Veronica; it would be nice for her friends & loved ones to have a purpose other than to serve her. (Which is what RT did w them in S4. Wallace was just there, he had zero purpose. &Mac was "overseas" bc Tina wasn't interested in being a secondary character so unlike what she had been previously ... when RT actually cared about the show & the fans, rather than his own agenda to have a character rise to the top, among the ranks of Sherlock..)
The ending was a cop out.
RT is obv REALLY good at convincing his actors that what he's doing is the best thing. That HIS plans are what matter, even knowing it was going to absolutely crush the hearts of true fans (without whom he never would have been in a position to create S4 bc without the crowd[fan]funded movie having been made... You get the idea..)
In my mind, all that remains of what I watched on S4 is all the positive growth in Logan and his love & respect for Veronica. A love so strong he was willing to let her go, if that would make her happy... He is alive & well in my (writer's) mind 💕
I think all fans agree this was a shit move on Rob's part

Suffering is not the guaranteed gateway into higher quality writing, and writers who think it is are inexcusably sophomoric.
I am with you. In MY world, he never got in the car, it was a set up, in order to get him out and on assignment --- in a way that Veronica wouldn't try to find him. Their story, had so many more stories in them. MANY seasons, imo. They need NEW writers. If someone would write S5-E1 the way it SHOULD BE written..... He has his adventure, eventually finding his way back to her - and then restart it. It was SUCH a horse-sh*t thing. Idiotic.
I just hope Rob Thomas sees this emotional backlash from fans from Logan’s death. And puts Logan/Jason in the Future of VM in some form whether it be as her conscience if he really is dead or actually bring him back in some way because Logan is one of the big reasons for me loving the show so much!

Jason was more than an important part of the show. He was the show. No one will watch without him.
I have been upset about TV character deaths before but not to this extent. This one feels personal because I have LITERALLY invested in this franchise.
Just really sad and extremely disappointing. I read the writers explanation as to why he chose to end Logans character and it doesn't justify at all. Maybe it makes sense to him but not to the viewers. Yes, this is VM but Logans character made the series more appealing to watch. gets you hooked up for what is next because of how Logans character got transformed through the years, and how VM world evolve into it as well. Anyway I have followed through the Whole series and Movie and was always on the look up for whats next but now it's time to move on cause there's no VM without Logan. Jason, thank you! We love you. You will always be the hero at the end of the day.

Honestly, I finished the end of Season 4 this morning and have been trying to process my sadness all day. I am trying to decide whether or not I am angry at Rob Thomas for Logan's death. In the end, I have decided that while I can understand Rob Thomas feeling a need to let the show, and Veronica, grow into something more mature and less of a teenage love story. But I feel extremely miffed by the idea that this show was ever ONLY about Veronica Mars, which is what getting rid of Logan seems to project. Throughout the first three seasons there was NEVER an episode without Logan and it slowly became clear that his growth was nearly as central as hers based on the writing and screen-time his character was given. While I started the show caring about Veronica Mars, I ended up looking forward to EVERY MOMENT where Logan was in the scene as well. This is a testament to the EXCELLENCE with which Jason Dohring played the character............
My biggest disappointment is the knowledge that, while I can watch Jason Dohring in another show or movie (and believe me, I will), I won't ever get to see Logan's character grow and progress anymore. His story, which was VERY important, was cut short in order to favor Veronica's character growth. Rob Thomas created an incredible show and I respect his creative liberties, but I am extremely disappointed by the loss of Logan's character. The show will not be the same without him and I think Thomas might have a difficult time re-animating it as a Noir. Veronica Mars has ALWAYS been an incredibly strong, solo, female character. I argue that Rob Thomas didn't need to kill Logan to allow Veronica to become better or happier, but at least he made it so that Logan worked through his demons before he died.
Elisabeth Cropper there are no positives to this. It was unnecessary cruelty for such a beloved character. The storyline didn’t even make sense! There is no way VM would have not checked her car. It was purely for shock value and they’ve lost legions of fans for this choice.
@@Ndi1st Your totally right, and I think what it comes down to is that the creator wanted to make a genre change in the show, which is why they messed up the story line SO much (agreed, veronica would never willfully miss a clue like that). It is TOTALLY idiotic to treat the fans that way and I think the show will suffer for it (as I mentioned above). The second they get the show back after fifteen years they take away one of the biggest reasons that people watch it? I think this was a stupid choice and I'm dissapointed in the people who made it, but they get to deal with the pissed off fans now, so the joke is on them.
As someone who did not love that ending I have to say I hate that they killed Logan off but more then that I hate that they gave it so little emotion and just slapped it at the end of the mystery. It was HIMYM all over again and if you remember that spin off got axed, I hope Rob knows what he is doing cause I personally felt like this was not the way to keep fans tuning in. Burnt Marshmallow for sure.

No, I will not accept that Logan is gone. She was leaving to go see him, he is in a hospital elsewhere. He survived.

I know the show is VM, but many of us fell in love with Logan's character. I read somewhere in the Internet (back in the day, when the show got cancelled) that Rob wanted to continue season 4 without Logan and Neptune. He planned VM to be in the FBI. So I guess he got he wish. We, innocently, believed that if the show continue, it was going to include Logan. So disappointing! I will be another (now former) fan not watching S5.
Season 3 ratings were going down so in an attempt to save the show, they pitched a pilot episode for season 4 where Veronica is in the FBI (the former cast not being in the picture at all). The network said thanks but no thanks.
The loyal fandom kept this show alive for a decade, got them the money to make a movie, made some buzz about this show, all to have one of the most likeable and complex characters axed for no good reason.
I agree. It sucks that Logans gone. But no one cares if your mad and won't be coming back. Veronica Mars (you only said "VM" so I'm assuming you don't know how to spell it) is a magnificent show and I feel happy that if there is a season five I can watch it whilst knowing you are not watching it. Instead you'll likely be writing more hate comments about it. The fact that Veronica Mars (there it is again) has gotten this far after being canceled is AMAZING. And if you don't like how it turned out so what. Not only has the show struggled and found its way to victory, but Veronica as a character has to. I hope for there to be a fifth season as I will enjoy watching it. You on the other hand I hope grows up and learns to deal with it. 😊

There seems to be this fear that if characters have happily resolutions, there is no angst or drama to drive a story. Veronica could have had turmoil in other ways to drive the storylines and the show. Logan did not have to die. Not a happy camper. Not sure I want to watch it without him.

This is the reason that I don't want to see my favorite shows in revivals.. if writers want to keep interesting stories sometimes they kill fan favorite characters.. for me the kickstarter movie is the real end of Veronica Mars
well one can consider that the real ending its like with toy story 3 and 4 i personally loved the 4th one but lots of fans feel 3 was perfect and just consider the 4th one a side story

just seems like Rob was thinking way to much about Veronica and what could be a season 5 instead of thinking about the 15 years in the making. Logan took a huge part in the first 3 seasons. Veronica being an underdog doesnt seem like a good enough reason to kill off logan. It felt like they tried way too hard this season to make fans hate logan and veronica being together by making them fight and seem unstable, they are meant to have the epic love, veronica could be an underdog and still be married to logan, imagine how badass it would be to watch them in season 5 grow together and mature together, she doesnt have to do it alone.
Why why why? Why would you give us exactly what we wanted with their wedding and then literally BLOW UP Veronica’s Happiness. UHHHHHHHHHHHH. I love everything about this new season up to the last 10 minutes.

So sad, I love Veronica Mars but I can't imagine it without Logan!
I have loved this this show for so long now, loved the movie, and loved the comeback with a season four. I was never let down by any of it until the last few minutes of season four's finale episode. I don't think the fanbase would have left the show if they had kept Logan alive. I know it seemed like it made since for the show to be able to continue at the time to kill him off and leave Veronica with the same passion and determined mind like she had after Lilly's death, but they did an injustice. Given the fact that they had such character growth and Logan being a Naval Intelligence Officer; they could've continued with them both fulfilling their dreams and ours, by staying happily married. What should've happened, in my opinion, is that they live out the happily ever after they so deserve together while Logan is called to active duty, Veronica could travel for cases or investigate ones in Neptune. It worked for the movie and season four, it could work for any other future Veronica Mars seasons or movies. They would always come back to each other and live in bliss until the next case or duty call.
Season 4 was odd. The cartel guys were like a Pulp Fiction twist, which was a bit comical. But VM was just a nasty character. She was mean, unforgiving, angry. I didn't like her, which made it difficult to like the show. The quirky comedy element was missing. It was sort of there every once in awhile, but just not quite. Logan dying was a terrible decision. They need to figure out how to twist that and bring him back somehow. He's military (Navy). I'm sure there could be some sort of gov't conspiracy plot where they had to fake his death. Unfortunately, without Logan, I don't care to watch another season should it renew.
We are not letting you go, so get some rest but we want you back.
I really enjoyed it... didn’t really love the ending and I understand why people are mad, I am too! I’ve been a Marshmallow since day one! The reasoning for Logan’s death was bs, but for me Veronica Mars wasn’t just about that one relationship it’s about soo much more, I’m going to stick by it and hope we gets back on track, hopefully all this hate won’t stop us from getting a season 5
Agreed! While I have always been a fan of LoVe, I have always thought that the core of this show has been, besides mystery/solving the case, the relationship between father and daughter. For me, when Keith or V dies, that is when the show dies. I would love to see a S5 with V and Mac working together again, and giving Mac a decent storyline or arc.

Hated it hated it hated it! It’s so strange but I feel so deeply betrayed by them for this. Especially after being a faithful fan all these years and supporting it so hard to come back with the movie. We deserved to see Logan live a happy life, after all the work he did, that would have been such a great example to spotlight. I feel like the world doesn’t need more dark storylines right now. We needed to see that redemption is possible and that it pays! Not whatever this nonsense ending was meant to be.
Sorry the show has officially ended for me now, I won’t be watching #VeronicaMars any longer.

So, I’ll be honest, I am 41, and did not watch Veronica Mars during it’s run on UPN/CW. I actually just had surgery, had lots of time on my hands, and decided to see what it was all about.
I binge watched the entire series and movie in under a week. I was obsessed, and I have to say, I agree with soooo many of you about Logan’s character. He was central, right there with Veronica, as far as I am concerned. I, like others have said, found myself looking forward to every scene he was in.
The ending was DEVASTATING! All of that binge watching...leading up to THAT?? I was wrecked!
I know what RT has said about Logan’s character, and I know it seems hopeless. The only thing I take comfort in is that no matter what his goal is, he left holes. Whether intentional or not, Logan’s death was not certain.
Veronica was not the only smart one. Remember Logan’s background in the military here... he knew what the last letter from Penn said... Veronica was telling him about exactly what Penn said to her last while she was digging through the med cabinet, so that was fresh in his mind. When she is at the window, she specifically asks him about the time in Figi.... we see the other car pull up, and she leaves the window. He could have put the pieces together in his mind just as she did right before the blast. I mean, if she had been the one to go move the car, don’t you think Logan’s character would have put the same pieces together to save her?
Yes, it looks grim, and we know the stance from RT.... just saying, if he ever changes his mind.... he left an opening.
Regardless, I’m glad I finally watched!

Rob Thomas, you just ruined the show and spat in the faces of all the fans who ever cared about it in the first place. I especially feel bad for Jason. He's devoted so much time, passion, and heart into his character just to have him be unceremoniously killed off screen in some piece of hacky shock value writing.
Rob Thomas, you truly suck as a writer and you personally let down so many people. I hope you realize what damage you've done and fix this unforgivable mistake.

Hey Jason I feel you on that. I too like to help others. I would love to meet Kristen one day so we can help people together. The ending of season 4 was crazy. My mind is still in a crazy place even though it's been a while since I seen it already. So many questions to be answered. This video made my day. I do want to know what happened with Dick and how he took the news of both Logan and his dad's passing.
I wouldn't be so upset that he died if the reasons for the death actually made sense to me. Reading an article where Rob Thomas says that in order for Veronica Mars to continue as a show she can't have any happiness is, to me, quite ridiculous. People are complicated and it's not like her character doesn't understand tragedy first hand. There is always a trope in tv shows where the female Detective / PI is a loner with a non-existent love life or at the most a very unhealthy one and it's so one-dimensional. Basically Rob thinks Veronica would be boring as a wife or even (gasp) a mother if she ever decided to become one. I personally think he took the easy way out for her character instead of truly developing someone who is just as complicated as he claims.

I genuinely can’t think of one single person who was okay or happy with Logan’s death - I’m certainly not. I love Logan, he’s my favourite character and the show dies with him and LoVe.
I refuse to believe he’s dead. We didn’t see a body. We didn’t get anyone straight up saying ‘he’s dead’.
Bad publicity is still publicity and this is a way for Rob to get as much attention as possible so he can do a season 5 and bring Logan and LoVe back.

Just binge watched the season. Bravo. Hate to see Jason go; but, what a ride. Great acting. Great storyline. Whedonesque. Felt real.. why are people infuriated? It's a miracle that show came back after it was cancelled. Firefly needs to come back as well. Brilliant. Hats off to the whole crew! And here's to Season 5!
The season was really good and exciting up until the last few min. Then in one move I was pissed like I was at the ending of "How I Met your Mother." Why didn't Rob just blow up Veronica also? Because that's what it seems like happened. Why not have everyone else in range. Dad, Wallace, Weevil, Dick , and toss in Pony for good measure. Because no one is going to be into Veronica being with anyone else. So go ahead make a season 5. I know I won't be watching. If he wanted to make sure it was dead, he succeeded.
Seeing Logans growth has been such an integral part of VM and he quickly became one of my favourite characters back in S1 when he worked with VM for Lily's dedication. I knew something bad would happen to a main character and I had a feeling it was him but after he turned up at the courthouse I stupidly hoped they would not do this. VM is such a strong person but to continue to throw shit at her so she can grow is lazy writing i think. Im disappointed that the revived the series just to do this. If there is another season, I will watch because I love KBell but the final few minutes has left a bad taste in my mouth, similar to many other reboots that murder off characters/butcher characters just to seem 'edgy'.

Just watched the whole season. What a slap in the face to the fans. I’m now actually p*ssed that I even watched it. I would rather have just had the movie. What the heck Rob Thomas. Awful. We watch TV to feel and escape (feel better). The ending did NOT.

All good impressions after the final completely destroyed! Bad decision from a lazy author to use such tricks to attract attention. Rob Thomas was too lazy to develop the bright character of Logan. I was on season 2 when I found out about Logan's death in season 4, so I never over invested in their relationship. It was sad, but I think necessary because the show had become about that relationship. I found season 4 stale. No season 5 anyway, so probably a good ending to it all.
Didn’t like the end at all should have been a happy one .
Mixed feelings ? EVERY real fan of Veronica Mars, every single fan that is REALLY in love with this show, is desperate by the ending.

I read the writers comments that they could see how to write for a strong married female character. I just was aghast at him. Seriously, you don't k ow any strong married women, faithful to their spouses. I feel sorry for you.

Rob literally used the fans, made us fund their movie when they’re millionaires and then did such an awful thing at the end of season 4. I will never support another Rob Thomas project
The ending is crap. How dare they kill him off and in such a shit way. Bing Bang Bong dead. wtf... It's been on my mind for an entire week thats how upset and shocked I am about it. I don't even want to watch a new season of the show. He was the entire reason I loved this show.
50% of me thinks he is not dead because why didn't you give him a funeral or like show us the body but the other 50% thinks he's dead

This is such a VM thing to do. I hate that he is gone but geez. Y’all need to stop acting like this isn’t something you could expect from the show. If they wanted to kill him, only thing is I wish I was the next big mystery for Veronica to solve rather than the end of the first one.
Most people aren't upset with the fact he was killed but how. It could have been written better and wasn't anything unique

The police also didn't search the car where the bomber was kept?! Damn. It literally feels like Rob wrote the wedding scene and then the night before submitting the script he realized: "oh shit, I was planning to kill Logan off, wasn't I? Okay, this is what we're gonna do.."
I would've preferred Logan go back to being a jerk like he was in high school.
The ending was fine, they only did this ending because there is not going to be any more seasons or movies.. this was it. This was buttoning up VM with her slowly growing and getting out of Neptune having squared off everything down to Weevil and her being good..
If there is not going to be a season 5 can we at least know who TF the copycat bomber is fffffffffff
One downside w/being a fellow writer is that I could see what Rob Thomas was going to do w/Logan, lol, and as much as I want to be mad about it, I actually understand why he killed him off.
Idk if there will be other seasons or not, but either way, this felt like a good ending - not good that Logan died but that there was closure to these characters.
I mean, I hope there are more seasons & I’ll still watch anything Rob Thomas writes - I’m forever his fangirl, lol - but if this is the end of one of my favorite shows, I’m OK w/that. We at least got a chance to say goodbye. ❤️
If you are also a writer and you think this was fine writing - please, take another class or something. Look at the negative backlash. Believe me, it's not because a TV character was written off. It's because how he was written off.

It pains me to even go through these comments. There are a lot of people saying stuff like, "this is bad writing..." or "this was just lazy..." Like seriously? This is a magnificent show and even if you don't like that Logan died you can't say it's bad writing. Rob has written 4 seasons of a show that was loved so much and a movie. While the most you've written is probably in your 40 word hate comments. Rob made a decision. Get over it. It was expected to be honest. I mean come on! It's Veronica Mars for crying out loud! There is no such this as a happy ending. We will all miss Logan, but we will also all get in with our lives. So grow up and move on.

Soooo not a fan of this ending. The movie's ending is better. Bottom-line is, just bring Logan back alive

I liked the ending personally. I didn’t like the idea of her being cut of from every pursuing a romantic connection again because the story lines are interesting. Also marrying Logan felt like such an ENDING. Having him maybe die seems like it opened her storyline to so many more possibilities for future seasons. As much as people loved them together like the same ol married couple stuff eventually would have gotten old.
When a fan's focus is entirely on wallowing in nostalgia, the desire is "More of the same, please." And that's how you kill a TV series. So that's why he had to die. The series needs to break new ground, and it's going to. I salute you, Rob Thomas. Roll on, season 5.
