My 2021 Ford F150 lariat does not have wireless charging or maybe I just haven’t found it yet being there’s so many bells and whistles I find something new every day lol! Did you know there in a little Ford oval in the front grill there’s a thing that pops out to wash the camera on the grill? I couldn’t believe it I found that lol
As a 2014 Escape SE 2.0L owner, I would never be able to come down from that 2.0 - it's just awesome. Quiet and powerful when you need it. What's more, it's GREAT on gas (considering its power!), and in 6 years, I've never had a problem with it. We are looking at the 2020 now, but it is a bit pricey - making you go from an SE to a Titanium trim is tough to swallow.
I’ve had to escape in the past one was a titanium the other was an SEL and I have no complaints with either one although the titanium is the one to go for if you want all the bells and whistle‘s.
I actually like the redesign, not at first, but it has grown on me. Plus the powertrain on the Escapes has always given good torque, hoping for a tuned ST model...
Thanks Joe, this is my first review of your review. Up here in Canada, it sure helps to have AWD with 25cm (10 inches) of snow that just fell. I have owned a 2001, 2005, 2013, 2015, 2017 and now a 2018 Titanium Escape (yes, not Platinum) and I am presently negotiating a deal on the 2020 Titanium. Your review was very thorough and I agree with most of your points. I have always had a towing package and this small crossover has really come in handy over the last decade with renos at my house and cottage. I also agree with some of your reviewers that 40k (44 in Canada with our weaker dollar) is steep but I have been loyal to the brand and I have a great sales person that I have bought the last 4 off of and I always manage to pay less than most people. I love the pep of this engine (2L) and anybody who has driven it who normally drives Toyota, Honda or any of the domestics, are always impressed with the pickup of this little crossover. It meets the needs of our family and I have only gone to Volvo, GM and Mistubishi in the last 25 years but I always seem to come back to Ford because I try to support North American built cars and Ford seems to deliver the best product of the 3. Thanks for the review.
Americans be like: „I hate wagons. They‘re ugly family cars!“ Car manufacturers: „What if we lift it 2 inches?“ Americans: „Damn! That’s good stuff!“ 😅😅😆
Had 2 Escapes. Excellent small SUVs. There's reason its always top 3 best seller last decade. Comfortable & highly durable. Now u have a hybrid option. 👍💯
Just not sure on this one. That design takes some getting used to. The cheaper models do not look good in my opinion. Parts of the interior seem cheep as well. Ford is falling so far behind the other auto makers when it comes to interior design and finish. On the plus side the engine and transmission seem like a winning combo.
Blade, I agree the cloth in the 2020 Escapes are really junky looking. They look used when they are in, hate to imagine them in a year. I also wouldn't go with a Titanium though as it seems like the wood is a cheap look. I prefer the silver in the SEL trim, that's where I would be if I bought it. Leather and silver trim.
The dashboard and door panels look cheaper than the previous gen in my opinion. The 17" alloy wheels on the S & SE models look like garbage. The 17" 5 spoke wheels on the 2013 - 2016 look better. Doesn't cost any more to make a nice looking set of wheels. A nice set of wheels goes a long way to making even a homely car look better.
Surprising amount of pep, you could visibly see the nose rise up when you gunned it. I too don't like the trend of all this flat black around the wheel arches and along the bottom in a vehicle they know nobody is taking offroad. Cost cutting move and makes it look lifted more than it is. ST model would be insane, but we're already at $40k for this one...
Joe! It’s your video that convinced me to check out the 2020 Escape Titanium. I had a reservation for the 2021 Mustang Mach E but then Covid 19 showed up and changed some things. My dad worked for Ford when I was growing up so I took advantage of my A plan discount as well. I bought the Rapid Red Titanium trim with the 2.0l ecoboost. I have to say it is a great ride. I’ve had it for only a week but absolutely love it. I’m a very petite young lady so this is a fantastic fit for me. I will upgrade to something with more performance in the next year or two. But I wanted to just say thank you for all your reviews! They do make a difference! Forever a fan and follower of all your amazing work!!! 🤗🤗
I had a 2010 Escape that I loved...except for the lack of lumbar and I should have purchased the V6. I’m not wild about the overall design, but that can be changed if it drives well enough 😁
40 gran 😳 no cooled seat no wireless charging one aux front.. seems this vehicle was pulled from the European line up brought here and lapped the Hvac control center in from the spare parts bin
That’s exactly what it is. This is a German Ford, mildly redesigned with cheaper materials used here and there for the US market which demands a cheaper price point than Europe.
Just bought a f150 and left it at the dealer to add a few features and had this Escape for a rental. I'm so thankful for my truck, this escape sounds like a toy car, it seems way smaller than the older Escapes (2010) too. I was not a fan, drove off the lot and immediately wanted my truck back lol.
Selling these has its ups and downs, having people that still have the square model just have a hard time transferring to a a smaller size suv, and then car people just like the cars.... I’m glad they have the hybrid engine option and the copilot 360. The middle row moving is a really nice plus as well! Also you keep saying platinum when this is a Titanium 🙂
Like the power. The styling could be more interesting. Agreed on the cooled seats and rear usb at this price point. I prefer the black trim around the windows of the lower model. This isn't the 1950s. Why must everything at the top of the range in cars need chrome. Maybe there's a midnight package that can be had on future Titaniums. Black wheels and trim would make this thing look better.
Living in Florida I look for cars with chrome trimmed windows as the rubber on blackout trimmed windows turns to grey and eventually dries out down here no matter how you care for it.
Thanks Joe. I have 2 months to replace our 17 XV Crosstrek. I try to watch all of your reviews. I have to agree with you and the viewers, this one is pricey for what your getting. We are looking for a long term commuter that gets good mpg’s but has most of the bells and whistles and comfort. Elantra, Ioniq, Corolla, Mazda 3, prefer the hatch. Going to go back and check your video library. Thanks!
The 2020 Escape is definitely nice. I drove it. 2.0's comes in the SEL trim too. SEL trims have either a 2.0 or the 3 cylinder 1.5. The 3 cyl is a better price obviously, but I'm not sure the 3 cyl will be RELIABLE or deliver power even if it says 180 HP. They haven't had a 3 cyl in this size SUV before. I believe the EcoSport has it but it just isn't a great seller for Ford (maybe because of the 3?). Should have left it a 4 cylinder 1.5L.
My momma and me drove this Titanium Escape highway and byway; it’s a dream. Screw the high over torqued Audis/BMW’s good only for the Autobahn. This Ford Escape Tit rocks 👊🏼🤣🤘
Might be picking up one of these tonight. As my winter car my scat pack is definitely not good in the snow I haven’t even attempted it LOL! The one I’m looking at is a titanium in a really unique green color that I really like I will see you tonight what kind of deal I can get on it I know they’re $39,000 sticker price they were talking something like 34,000 out the door right now because it is a 2020 left over.
Have to give Ford credit, they always seem to have an option for a good powerful engine for the model of your choosing. I do not want a slow vehicle where I have to push it hard just to get on the freeway. Plus the looks of this has grown on me and I like the interior layout. l will take a White SEL TURBO 4 Banger. Oh wait I don't trust turbo 4 bangers, all I want is a port injection NA V6.
This one I've been driving until my car is repaired!! It's a beast on the highway! Far far exceeded my expectations as well as the people I passed like a boss on my trip today..
9:29 It does have wireless charging right there where your hand went. Also, my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with a full body case, fits in there perfectly and charges.
@@RaitisRides idk if i told you but i bought a base model impreza for around 18k brand new. After i watched your review on it, i knew that was all i needed for the snow. Bought it cash and it'll be a good long term car!
You can get a well equipped SEL model for that amount. Check their website. He's talking about a maxed out model that virtually places it in the luxury class.
Just picked up my wife’s yesterday. 2.0 titanium out the door tax included $36 came with lifetime power train warranty. Happy with the overall package.
If I’m spending 40k on a vehicle I’ll buy a truck. These prices are insane and I know they have base models but the point is you should be able to get this tech for cheap. It’s not expensive to make. It cost ford about 17k to produce this and they charge 40k. Insane

For those of you that are on a budget, but still want the 2.0 turbo and AWD. Try going with the SEL model.....I have seen them in the 29k - 33k range with incentives.
He keeps calling it the Platinum when it is clearly the Titanium. Also that "Nerf" engine cover has been used on Ford engines for quite awhile, one example is the Explorer. They also use that foam material for noise insulation on high pressure fuel pumps for DI engines as well.
This type of cars are not for me maybe for small family But the design looks ok for those looking for small suv Reminds me of Front : Porsche / Back: Mazda CX9 .and the interior update is nice Thank you Joe and Happy Holiday
Let’s see 2021 Escape and the 2021 Explorer both have a new digital instrument cluster...what happened to the 2021 Edge?? Any update on this from Ford? Will the 2022 Edge finally receive the new digital instrument cluster which is fantastic!?
Zonking the iconic blue ford signs on the car. Otherwise it’s a nice vehicle. Still wouldn’t pay $39k for the escape. How are the paddles a good thing?
The 2020 escape titanium 2.0T 2wd has been my rental vehicle for the past week in FL. That vehicle really hauls butt. I was missing the HUD and any kind of sunroof, but the b&o audio was impressive. Sync isn't for me, but the Android auto worked well. 27mpg under hard acceleration was pretty good. Handling is crisp. Didn't care for the ford safety suite, my Honda's work better at lane keep assist. The vehicle is also too small for cargo and the backseat was thumbs down from the kids. I don't care, it charges hard, and that was good enough for me! Bring on an ST with bigger wheels.
Hey joe Thanks for great review. Since i am a ford fan i always love watching your ford cars review. Regarding the heads up display i agree that the plastic part makes it like the ones you can buy on amazon. I appreciate if you tell me your idea about heads up display, i know its so cool but are they really practical, i mean they can kinda distract you while driving right?
I love that you keep saying PLATINUM and yet, that trim level doesn't exist on the Escape. It's a TITANIUM. Close but no cigar. I recently wrecked my 2015 Mustang and wanted something different, so I picked up one of these, it's awesome!!! It's really quick and I have all the luxuries the Mustang didn't have. Heated steering wheel, lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, the back hatch opens and closes by itself, and it will park itself too, amazing!!
Any chance you can get your hands on a 2016-2019 Lexus is300? would love to see what you think about some of the features and styling. Im considering buying one in the next couple of weeks 😀 thank you in advance !
i think one of Ford's biggest mistakes with the Escape/Kuga, is messing up the petrol engine/transmission options, to get top performance, you need to get the hybrid model for top power and auto box, but no AWD. Last gen had AWD/auto as top option. I know it all comes down to emissions. Still like Kuga's, hoping for a UK/EU ST version, after the Puma ST arrives in Q3. Plus they are NUTS for not keeping the MK4 Focus ST in US/CAN, they would sell lots of them, as it now has the old MK3 RS 2.3 engine, and drives great (auto option still to arrive)!
This would be pretty far down on my list if I was in the market for one. Decent power but not 40k worth and I’m not digging the exterior. Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
all the Zooks you mentioned are true to the heart Zoonk !!! man those designers they want you to pay 40K in Auto loan (Debt) and yet they were not thoughtful making decisions regarding interior quality and that tablet like style infotainment system i hate that thing man .. look like after thought how come they style do this crap ?!!!

This type of cars are not for me maybe for small family
But the design looks ok for those looking for small suv
Reminds me of Front : Porsche / Back: Mazda CX9 .and the interior update is nice
Thank you Joe and Happy Holiday
Let’s see 2021 Escape and the 2021 Explorer both have a new digital instrument cluster...what happened to the 2021 Edge?? Any update on this from Ford? Will the 2022 Edge finally receive the new digital instrument cluster which is fantastic!?
Platinum?
That’s kind of strange mine has heated and ventilated seats and it also has the charging bed for your cell phone it’s right where the USB ports are.
Zonking the iconic blue ford signs on the car. Otherwise it’s a nice vehicle. Still wouldn’t pay $39k for the escape. How are the paddles a good thing?
Noticed a lot of these new Fords have “eight speed” transmissions what are they phasing out the 10 speeds? Were they a problem?
White Knight The eight speed is for everything but their trucks and the explorer which is rear wheel drive based.
White Knight the 10 speeds are for the Trucks/SUV’s and mustangs.
Jovaughn Gueno ok but why an 8 speed ?
It's all about packaging! 10-speed is for rear wheel drive.
@@kyle223cat AGREED!
Hey joe
Thanks for great review.
They are both metals.
It’s growing on me and I think ford will sell a lot of these 😻
With the right amount of rebates.
Very quick car!! I was very surprised. And it feels great on the hwy... Driving us believing
Any chance you can get your hands on a 2016-2019 Lexus is300? would love to see what you think about some of the features and styling. Im considering buying one in the next couple of weeks 😀 thank you in advance !
I will try to get my hands on one for you! Wish me luck!

As Liam Neeson says, "Good Luck."
If you can swing it, I would go IS350 instead of IS300. It gets much better reviews.

ESA does alot of older car reviews, and Kevin has an obvious affinity for Lexus.
Didn’t know they have a platinum trim
For 40k, there are better vehicle's to choose from.
I totally agree with you!
Example? We got our 17 loaded 40k msrp escape for 32k just a counter point, probably wont buy this one.
I bought a loaded 2019 Santa Fe for just under $40k and there is no comparison. Hyundai is more upscale inside and out. I’ll take the Hyundai.
I bought a new 2015 Escape Titanium , never got to 20 mpg. No problems just disappointing fuel milage.
@@keithsteck432 with Hyundai's engine issues I would disagree. The Escape 2.0 turbo is a rocket and better on gas.
Haha “NERF” made the engine cover....yeah I would take it off and throw it too😝👍
Not crazy about the diamon inveversion on the doors either
It does have a wireless charger. I have the same car.
That is awesome man! Thanks for the info.
Where can I get a Platinum?
What does everyone think this or a 2021 Kia Sportage SX Turbo?
Are you what this thing rides beautifully for a small vehicle and it’s also dead quiet inside.
I’d love to see a video on the new Ford Escape Plug-in that has finally started making its way to dealerships.
i think one of Ford's biggest mistakes with the Escape/Kuga, is messing up the petrol engine/transmission options, to get top performance, you need to get the hybrid model for top power and auto box, but no AWD.
I totally agree with you!
Just picked up ours today exact replica of this one. Got a great deal at Lewis & Clark ford. Yankton SD. Great vehicle!!👍
This would be pretty far down on my list if I was in the market for one. Decent power but not 40k worth and I’m not digging the exterior. Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I totally agree with you Larry!
This or the mazda cx5 signature (turbo)?
Interior wise, Mazda. Performance and fuel economy, Ford.
platinum titanioum.?
all the Zooks you mentioned are true to the heart Zoonk !!! man those designers they want you to pay 40K in Auto loan (Debt) and yet they were not thoughtful making decisions regarding interior quality and that tablet like style infotainment system i hate that thing man .. look like after thought how come they style do this crap ?!!!
