You got lucky. Those were the small ones. I hauled a damaged one from Ok to the rebuild center in In. The wood cradle was damaged too boot. Took creative tie down. Plus I had to tarp it..
Sweet you got help ;-) many hands make light work!! An THAT!! was Kool .. you know we see them complete d but never get to see what actually makes them tick away. So I am assuming the props attach to power train unit an then the out put shaft is like multiplied to what ratio I don't know... I'll bet the generators that hook on the other end of that are monsters! O.O.. Kool video even for an old dinosaur like me ;-)
Another beautiful blue-sky day in the Coachella Valley. How many viewers noticed the functional wind turbines in the distance during some of the load-up footage? 👍
I don't understand why the crane did not deliver at least one gearbox since they also unloaded it a second time and then put that one on the ground. It seemed redundant but I guess I'm missing something there. Sweet brother :) but more of a book worm :) I hope he is doing well in school. Love your videos. It is the closest I will ever get to cool equipment that only men are privileged to operate. I love tools and trucks.
You title is correct, Trent - these are gearboxes for the wind turbines. They change the speed of the slow turning wind vanes to high speed for the rotor in the generator. It must be interesting for you to watch other people rig things. You can learn both the good and bad practices.
You should see the trailers they use to transport finished nacelles. They require so many wheels to hold the weight it makes the trailer assembly so long that the rear end has to steer in order to make a turn at intersections. The part the nacelle sets on is only a few inches above the road but the nacelles are still too tall to go underneath a 13 foot overpass.
Been watching the videos recently and really like them. This is probably a dumb question but why did they need you to relocate those turbines if they can upload them on their truck and transport them on the truck then offload at their destination? Even if they can only do 1 at a time.
The drivetrains put the boomtruck over the legal “safe” weight to transport them on public road ways. Once on the privately owned or leased land the vehicle can handle the weight, one at a time of course.
What I don't get is these cranes that lifted the turbine motors onto your trailer held them on their bed, why would they need you to transport them when they picked them up in their one yard and brought them over on the back of their crane just to lift over to your truck? Couldn't they just picked up the turbine motors up and transported them to the new location and just went back to get the other one? I thought the trip was a short one. I could see if you had to drive something like that halfway across the state then that would of made sense to put them on your trailer and then go? I like how your brother has a chance to help you out and get experience so he can maybe learn some good skills.
My guess, since they moved two this was faster. And they did mention the crane was at capacity maybe it also had something to do with road weight to, the vehicle and motor could have been over weight.
Looks like they're a field service crew and may lack the necessary qualifications, license, insurance for a heavy haul on the highway, so limited to just on-site transport at both ends. Also might be a GVW problem due to the weight of their on-board crane, but that's not obvious.
Overweight for their truck probably. Crane truck could only move one anyways. Weight limit may not be the trucks physical limit to haul but the weight limit the vehicle is licensed to weigh. Going overweight from the licence can be very expensive.
There is a lot of people say we need renewable's like wind power, this shot @33:07 is why we need something more reliable as you can see how many of those wind turbines aren't producing 1 watt of power when they don't have wind to spin them. On side note, should offered to bring the tator too trent make it easier with something with bit more power then their little truck.
Nice seeing your brother having some fun on his vacation. Probably will make him appreciate school all the more! :-)
I found it a little more entertaining than most mainly because it looked like your brother was trying to keep up with you, with limited success. 😊
Hi, Trent Your Brother did a nice Job 👍😎
Go easy on your lil' bro. They don't teach lefty loosey, righty tighty in schools anymore.
Good vid. Always look forward to more.
Good video, I like Jared's expression at the end when he thought you were talking to him but you were doing the ending.
Tell your brother good job . Nice to see family help each other
You got lucky. Those were the small ones.

You are a very good teacher my friend absolutely awesome👍
That’s pretty cool thank you for sharing we careful out there be safe 👊✌️
Welcome, Jared.
Training little brother on how things work.
Oh yes the plaza Towing Brothers interaction doesn't get better than that. Great video Trent.
As a mother of two boys I loved this video ❤️
Love the videos! Watching these inspired me to go get my CDL, just started school for it!
How many weeks is the class?
Holy Wind farm Batman!!! Great Job guys.. Beautiful mounts you have there...
They want to build 600' tall ones In My backyard....
Hey guys you and brother have a lot of fun
It's cool to see your brother helping you out!!

Good to have your brother working with you. Show him some tricks of the trade.

Way to go, little bro, cool video keep up the great job
I am asking me why the crane truck guys did not deliver the gearboxes themselves
Overweight on their truck

Hi from UK ! Love your videos.

Did everyone fall over with windmill cancer from working near the wind turbines ? No ! well there is another thing Spanky lied about . Hahaha !

Will Jared be following in his dad's and brother's footsteps in the towing business?
In one of the videos trent said that he Is not into the towing industry
Another job well done, pull toy here.
Nice hat
Awesome video Trent !!!! , is your Brother interested in becoming a heavy duty tow operator ?????

That is really heavy from the wind turbines generation 115,000 lb
I heard one of the customer guys say that some hauler only used one chain. Is that even legal, let alone a bad idea?

Good😁😁😁
Is your brother going to be getting into the family business, or was this just for fun?
Why no rotator to do the lifting of the components?
Pretty sure I seen you or your company today in yucaipa getting on the 10 or maybe not enjoying the videos
Will your Brother help Darl Roberto and you this summer!?
how much does each piece weigh??
What is the our brother name?
Hi
🙂🙂👍
If the crane goes to the same location, why did they move this machine to your truck ?
My guess, since they moved two this was faster. And they did mention the crane was at capacity maybe it also had something to do with road weight to, the vehicle and motor could have been over weight.
too heavy for the crane truck :)
Trent said in another comment it was overweight on their truck.

Those turbines are 30 years old and being decommissioned this year to make room for higher capacity machines.
