Such a distinctive song. Lot of hooks. A great pop song. Takes us old folks way back.
Sad when these beautiful artists leave us. Love listening to his fantastic voice.
I've always loved this song. Childhood memories. Teenage memories. Adult memories.
One of the first songs I ever heard on radio. I thought it was magic and still do!!
Miss you so Peter...
Jus a beautiful song
I absolutely love this song.
Thanks, he was the best singer from the Netherlands !
Wow does this song bring back memories.
yeah what a great summer I had when this song came out, outstanding time
They sound incredible!! Just like I remembered! That's the mark of a true vocalist!
This is lip-synced there's no way this could have sounded like this 20 years later the record is playing in the background and he is lip-syncing it you can tell when he moves his lips
So lip synced. Listen to the original, they are identical which is impossible without lip syncing.
Peter Tetteroo, the lead singer, passed away in 2002 of liver cancer. He was only 55. RIP
geweldige Peter Tetteroo !
Great song, thanks for posting this awesome vdo.
Adoro esta musica na voz maravilhosa de Peter. Não me canso de assistir este vídeo.
J'adore cette chanson :)
love this song
Great song. Makes me feel happy when listening😊
I love this song
love you dear peter
+daimyo jackson Thanks for reaction !!
+RockSpecial please dear
2022, and it is still a nice song.
I remember this song when I was 11 and Jay Goff...wish I knew where he was now. My church friend from Perrine Baptist.
I loves me some key change in a song...
ребята, вы были классные
This took place on a tv show in 1986??? They should've released this song AGAIN in 1986 like it's original 1969 release and hit the charts.
..We got it in Tucson Arizona spring, 1970..Loved it immediately!
His headband was a giveaway to this being the 80's. I was confused for a bit.
Thanks oh I see 😀
Don't know who the person calling this band dumb F**ks. Just goes to show they don't know talent and class when they see it. This is a great band
Yes, lots of envious, jealous shithooks out there, looking to sabotage anything, every thing decent!! Wonderful song by a talented bunch of Dutch guys!! Period!!
Rest in peace? Oh now get that man up
That's exactly what I thought - Paul McCartney...like I thought the lead singer for Stories singing their hit "Brother Louie" was Rod Stewart! The stereo version has the two notes hit by the organist shifting from left to right...a new radio station that went on the air accidently was one-channel and they only found out when they played this tune.
@blookup
yes the hammond is magical--im looking to buy one..cheers
Very expensive!! This could be that porta-B3 model. They were popular then. .
sweet tune, int it? You can see the keyboardist in this video, to the right of the drummer. I musta been 8 when this came out, and I think i even like it more now than i did then. I'm glad it was here, I'm learning it on guitar. alo
..Good Luck to you with the rhythm guitar part..not too hard. I figured it out from memory in my head..have that talent, tho going deaf!!**
Now I may certainly be a fool (a cool fool at that!) but the geezer with the crazy afro and ultra modern Ovation acoostic guitar is Mr Ray Fenwick, who is absolutely English.
He obviously knows a good thing when he seas ( or hears!) it.
Obviously the other membrse are from the Neverlands but Ray is the only English cat who dug this FANTASTIC muisic.
I would hate to fink i have upset someone from Denmark especially as I love your bacon so much!
Peace and Love( in a trubled world)
That's who that is..Btw: Not a fan of Ovation/Kaman guitars! They sound plasticine, like the Lyrachord material the "bowl" is comprised of..To each their own!!
@rowdymax1 7th grade for me and I loved it too! I thought it might be a "secret" Beatles song. remember after they broke up how people thought they were secretly releasing material? Ma Belle Amie reminds me of simpler, innocent times
Yes..and because those times were simpler, VietNam notwithstanding, is was & will be very special!!##
Hey RockSpecial, is there a version of this song in their native language that you could upload? Thanks.
Love this one hit wonder, but lip syncing is a bit weak in 1986.
@kirbygene i googled at paul singing with him and it said is was paul, so who knows :)
dont tell me he pass away
Did he
Sadly, he did.
Lip syncing for sure
This is lip-synched, without a doubt. Not only is it clearly the studio version from simply listening to it, but it is quite clear that Peter is lip-synching the words. Too bad.
Why the lip syncing? So obvious and unnecessary but the 80’s were rife with that. Loved the song when it came out (I was 10) but would have loved to hear it without the lip syncing. So far no video I’ve found is a fresh take.
People don't realize it. But it's literally the recording. Where's the guy adding the hand claps and if the band is singing background vocals then why aren't they singing into the mic?
I thought he be black.
Me too! All of these years. A big shocker!
seattwa
he does kind of have a 'ritchie havens' kinda voice
@@73rams12 Yes, but better. More definitive, accurate, colorful..!
once again lip sync listen to paul mc cartney sing harmony
Huh? Ok I'll give you a break..actually that was the thought when the song had its original radio run, though everyone knew it wasn't..still was fun to wonder. So it's funny you say that..wondering if you're joking though.
+Steve Hino That's hobbit..we're all hobbits. And for the record to others, it is lip synced as was demanded of performers. But they were capable of doing it live so I couldn't give a snot.
@@derekec Most exactly. .Thought so too back then in 1970..So did my musical friends!
Shame on you guys that cant enjoy the music without making some kind of remark about lipsyncing well stay away...
I heard this on the radio last Sunday in the car and could not get it out of my head. Let the bells ring ... let the birds sing - I am so glad I found this video.
I love this, it makes me so happy. It reminds me of being 12, before there is hurt & disappointment & pain. It makes me smile in the midst of pain.
Bless you!!!
1970 was a great year for music. This was a great example. I will never forget.
Whether this was lip-synced, I know not. What I do know is that Peter was extremely underrated as an artist. ZsaZsa is certainly right when she wrote 4 years ago that his voice was magic and it was. His life was far to short. It's unfortunate th at he never really came into his own. Rest in Peace Peter
This was lip-synced. You can tell because the original music is playing in the background if it wasn't lip sync the music with sound totally different and so would he 20 years later sad that he passed away
@@zorenxam4693 And Peter Tettero was only 55 years old when he died.
Today's "performers" have made lip-synching a modern art form, so it doesn't matter if this was. They should give Milli Vanilli their Grammy back !!!###
@@williegordon7899 So sad💔
I'm glad to say that I bought the 45 as soon as it came out.
I absolutely adore this song ... thanks for sharing
So, that's Johnny Fever in the studio listening? Neat! But I don't hear McCartney in his voice at all. A soulful voice, but not a Beatle voice.
Only the high part, when I was a kid I used to think that was either McCartney or Lennon, or even maybe Harrison just doing the high part.
Brings tears to mu eyes, my Dad used to sing this song when i was a Child.
Aawwh..very touching!! Really! He had good taste!
Wow! I was in 8th grade when this song hit the radio ! All these years later and it still lifts my spirits, makes me smile and takes me back to a much easier time!
Great Voice
You are exactly right, hernje. Didn't mean to sound one sided. Just , after all these years, didn't realize they were Dutch....great music does cross all bounds and barriers.
The 1970s,were the best years for me up here in toronto.Clubbing,Arcades,Music.
One of my favorite songs from 69 (I also loved "Smile a little smile") when I was 13. The guy singing harmony sounds very much like Paul McCartney. This was 40 years ago and thanks to youtube it is still alive!
Yes. Exactly! Thought the same too! Im not alone here!! Cool song! Used to play/sing this at partys in mid-80's with a friend's Msrtin Acoustic D-35..Wow! Impressive!..
Since I was a child I felt that Paul McCartney must have contributed to the vocals..glad to read here that someone else made the same connection.
Still a beautiful song....Let the bells ring, Let the birds sing....Ma Belle Amie....
This song has a terrific bass line.
Yes, it is !
Yes, that bass part is pretty terrific! Wonder if he's playing that P-bass on the studio track..?
Damn good song!
Love the black outfit (!) but they should have left his hair alone! lol
Great song I love it
"After all these good years I say to you, thank you, thank you"
gewoon fantastisxch
I love this song and you too peter
Haven't heard this in a while. Like this song.
C'est Ma Chanson!!!!!!!!! Trez Bien, Merci, Merci. I was 11 in 1969 and I am FRENCH too.
Fantastic! Can't understand why this was never a hit in the UK.The English never recognise their own great talents like Ray Fenick(Crawdaddy Simon,Magpie theme, Fancy etc.)
Why on earth were we dragging other afro haired guitarists, (I think we all know of who I'm talking about) all the way across 'the big pond', when we had fantastic talent of our own like this!
It seems everyone was young in the '80's! A silly statement, but you know what I mean. I always loved how Peter sang and said "da" for "the". The only hint that he's Dutch.
..Exactly!! He/they might ve been singing this phonetically, Like Shocking Blue with "Venus".
I always did like this song. Thanks for the memories!
They use the original record for the background because there's no way after all these years that they could sound the same way a lip syncing at its very best I'm sure it's just said that they didn't perform it actually live that would have been much more cooler to see
Don't watch or listen to it, then. If you can do better, then do it. Why are there people like you who come to these sites just to post something nasty. Guess you are too scared to do it in person to ANY one.
Sounds so much like McCartney when he sings "I'm in love with you!" It's uncanny!
Yes sure does
That doesn't sound anything like Paul McCartney
Man, you've sure got different ears than Me then✌️🕊️
@@suzettebavier4412 It certainly does!! Love the acoustic chord progressions, and what the organ does to compliment his lead voice!
@@everly-shadystudios9900 i Know, Right?🤜🤛 👍
sexy song
whatta cool tune...I like it a lot, thanx Rock.
whatta cool tune...I like it a lot.
@RockSpecial Tee Set were from The Netherlands.
Talking about lip syncing.... Jerry Lee Lewis sounds the same after all these years. I seen him live. The songs were sang a bit different but his voice is the same. So maybe Peter isn't lip syncing. Just saying.......
Another golden oldie.
To Mariannelfk -
I was also 13, born 1956 in Hengelo, Holland.
A song I always heard on the radio around 1961 was Never on a Monday (?) but I don't know who the lady singer was.
OjaiRoy, you might be referring to Greek singer Melina Mercouri..
Great video!!!
100% lip sync
Great, great song. When it was on the radio bacjk in the 60's I first thought it was The Beatles.
Well, qualification there, the basic timbre of his voice thru the song's verses is not Beatlesque, till he sings "Im in love with you"..McCartney written all over it! And his harmony line on "...man after him waits here"...Also Paul-like!! Great song. fun to play for small gathering of cool folks!!
Rehearsed this for karaoke, but the French was too much!
😊 It's a simple phrase.
Ma belle amie
Apres tous les beaux jours Je te di merci , merci.
My beautiful friend
After all the beautiful days I say / tell you-- thank you, thank you.
I ,respectfully ,disagree. I don't have a drop of Dutch blood, however, this song has also been a favorite of mine, since a teen. Great music crosses all bounds and barriers.
Dang! Brings back so many memories!!
Kevin Spacey looked cool sitting at that desk smoking the cigar
Maybe you have forgotten: this song is written by Hans van Eijck (he plays the hammond organ in tee set)
PETER PARECE UM ANJO CANTANDO.I LOVE IT.
Love it!
@iwtricapecod Right! Agree completely. There is NO WAY they would sound this great in '86. (Totally lip-synched from the beautiful classic from '69!)
Tee Set is from the Netherlands?!! I was 13 when this song came out! Love it! I'm of pure dutch heritage so...hummm..must be in the blood! Thanks, Rock Special, for bringing back a flood of memories!
Tee Set-member Hans van Eijck lived one street away from me in The Hague, the Netherlands. At his parents house some of the golden records were hanging on the wall in the living room.
..Good for you!! My ex-lady friend from 2002 was half-Dutch, Mom's side..other half, Irish/German.. I'm pt Italian, pt Irish/English.
@almondgrrl
We have a thing in the UK called 'irony' and I was being 'ironic'.
Maybe it came across as 'moronic'.
The guitarist with the permed afro hair is Ray Fenwick and he is definitely English.
A knock at Mr Fenwick not Jimi.
This is backing track.
50 years old and not forgotten :)
Try 52 yrs old released in late 1969.
@@bqkmg2037 It was a roundabout fact. Geez.
@@MrRoztoc Get over it...geezzz back to you.
good old days beatclub in scheveningen for example om nooit te vergeten , zo ff naar de kjoe kijken en luisteren
Interesting how the record label Colossus in the US had a lot of Dutch bands. So did the label Dwarf and 21. Nothing wrong with that! The Nits should have had some hits in the states tho'. We think of Netherlands, and we think Shocking Blue, Golden Earring and Tee Set. Maybe some of us remember Earth and Fire, Focus, Spin, Trace, Alquin and Supersister, but that's about it...and Irish Coffee from Belgium!
haha zag ik ferry maat daar zitten met zijn sigaar grappig !! did i see ferry maar sitting there with his sigar funny !!
@herbherbert ...Fair enough...knee-jerk reaction of us yanks, I'm afraid, is to always assume it's about us (or Jimi). Thanks for the clarification on UK customs. I'll have check out more about this "irony" of which you speak. Off to Wikipedia then! ;-)
Muito linda musica.
Thank you for posting this song!
no he dead was he was 55 in 2002
