Thanks for taking the trouble to do that for us. By the way I wonder if I missed Herschel in the honorable mentions. I did see O.J. there, who some including myself would make top 10. I honestly didn't remember that Randy Moss was on the 49ers team that lost to Baltimore. Considering he's one of my all time favorites that actually surprised me.
I remember because he had a couple of huge moments that year in primetime...catching a td at New England on an epic game on Sunday Night football and an amazing run after the catch td at Arizona on MNF. I will always say that not attempting a fade route/jump ball inside the 5 was an egregious mistake by the SF coaching staff.
1992 was another painful year for Dan Marino. Miami won their division, beat their rival bills 37-10 in Buffalo that year, flattened the Chargers 31-0 in the Division game, but when it came time to host Buffalo in the AFC Championship, Mairno played okay, but the Dolphins turned the ball over 5 times, and couldn't stop Thurman Thomas, losing 29-10 in a bit of a shocker.

Not only is this a great one, there's that continuous number on the lower right part of the screen for when you scan or playback later or lose your place. Awesome, Throwback! Thanks for taking the trouble to do that for us.
By the way I wonder if I missed Herschel in the honorable mentions. I did see O.J. there, who some including myself would make top 10. People either forget or are too young to realize just how dominating Juice was. Had he not hurt his knee, fiercely, I'm confident he would have overtaken Jim Brown.
Number 1 was also the Greatest to never go to a Super Bowl. Most of the others at least got there at least once.
Detroit wasted 2 of the greatest players at there positions careers. That just horrible and shameful
Man I'm still mad about the fact that Detroit refused to trade Barry, denying him a chance to play with a contender and basically forcing him to retire while still in his prime... may the Lions be cursed for all eternity!
Fran Tarkenton. It was nice to see him mentioned in the honorable mentions. 3 super bowl appearance losses too.
We need the same list for different positions. Imho please make it happen
I know he's an OL, but no Logan Mankins. 7 Pro Bowls. 2010s all decade team. Played with Brady for NINE SEASONS but never won a Super Bowl. Brutal timing
For guard, Roaf and Hutchinson would be bigger examples.
Right but neither spent nearly a decade with the GOAT and missed a ring because of bad timing
@@iamhungey12345
@@carsonyoung9965 They were more accomplished than Mankins.
The fact I never knew Dic Butkas didn’t win a Super Bowl, let alone a playoff game is insane and glad Bruce Mathews got so recognition love and he is the best OL of all time in my eyes
Honorable mention for Julius Peppers! One of the best pass rushers of all time, 4th all time in career sacks, 9x pro bowl, 3x 1st team all-pro! Pep was a beast!
NFL Throwbacks is like an archives of memories that I lived. It feels like I lived and experienced all these moments/events throughout the NFLs history
The amount of Vikings on here is hilarious and depressing.
I know right? Gary Zimmerman was lucky the Vikings traded him when he was still in his prime.
Granted even then he had a close call since the guy initially retired after 1996 before being talked out of it by Shanahan and Elway.
1.Sonny Jurgensen HOFer.The greatest passer of the 60s not named Unitas.
2. Earl Campbell HOFer. The greatest runner not named Payton in his era.
3.Lem Barney HOFer. Deion before Deion. The greatest CB of his era not named Mel Blount
Dan, barry, and randy. My three favorite players of all time. The football gods are cruel.
Honestly ain't too many things sweeter than when NFL Throwback drops a new video for the timeline......(esp if it's 15+ minutes long 😌
Woulda been like 12 minutes if there weren’t 40 honorable mentions
Philip Rivers deserved to be an honorable mention on this list.
Rumor has it, Diggs is still standing in the end zone with his arms behind his back.
Great list. Really good honorables, too.
1 not being Marino is a crime. Don’t get me wrong Sanders was great but Marino was revolutionary to the QB position
Barry is a better overall player imo
With those honorable mentions thrown in … it’s crazy to see how many greats didn’t win a Super Bowl !
Randy Moss and Brian Urlacher are the ones that hurt the most for me 😢
Dan Marino is obviously #1 and it's not even close.
Marino honestly should be 5
Sanders (best RB
Moss ( best WR
LT ( RB2
Bruce Smith ( one of the best d
He wasn’t great after his first 4 or 5 years in the league.
Marino and Moss are #1 and #2 by a mile.
Barry Sanders well deserved Number 1 Spot
Tony G could’ve signed with the pats the year he retired and won a SB but he said he was done. Him and Gronk with Brady for a year would’ve been wild even if he was older.
No way you made this list without putting Larry Fitzgerald on it. The disrespect continues
As soon as I saw t.o. I was like oh okay so no Fitz. Lame asfffffff
T.O. on this list over Calvin Johnson clearly means NFL Throwback sees Owens > Calvin, which is a great thing.
Stats wise yea. Talent wise... Hard to find one better than Johnson.
@@joshballer8821Obviously both were great in there respective eras, but personally I think T.O. was the better receiver but that’s just my opinion.
@@cooperwolfe5478 Johnson regularly got triple teamed with little help in scheme and surrounding teammates. If he played for a good team he wpild have put up video game numbers. In this era 3,000 yards wouldnt be out of the question
@@joshballer8821 Johnson was hardly ever triple teamed, watch any of his his highlights, 95% are against obvious 1 on 1 or zone. Guy was too ineffective in red zone to be mentioned alongside someone like Owens.
@@nbt2310 highlights are highlights for a reason... he got doubly covered with a safety also backing up deep a lot. There were some single coverages and that's when he did exceptionally. I guess you would just have to follow it to know. I dont Dislike T.O. or something. I just have never seen Johnsons talent replicated. He just didnt have the talent around him for it to be showcased as well as some others.
Sterling Sharpe should have made honorable mention. Really great video. Still can't believe Butkas and Sayers didn't win a championship.
What’s crazy is the fact that I don’t think either player played in a playoff game.
Barry Sanders is the greatest running back of all time and he would be the rushing leader if he hadn't retired early. Another stellar throwback video.
He isn't the best the best is Jim brown by far
Cant believe Jim Kelly and larry Fitzgerald were honorable mentions they both had HOF careers
Thank you for mentioning Champ Bailey
Patrick Willis deserved *at least* an honorable mention
Excellent list
I hate when people say LT had 31 TDs in 2006. He had 34. 3 Passing TDs that year alone. Even if they don’t count the passes as TDs because he didn’t score them, they should still put 34 as his stat
Warren Moon's best years was when he was with The CFL's Edmonton Eskimos (now The Edmonton Elks). Brian Dawkins, and The Late Ken Riley should have been on the list.
Damn Philip Rivers couldn’t even get an honorable mention?
he is still playing
@@jimbo9208 No he isn't.
@@jeremynelson2773 okay then but what did he do that was s great
If the guy is on the list then the title would have been "Top 10 QBs without a championship".
Moon and Largent are 2 of my all time favorite players.
You all are great at content like this! Keep it coming!
Moss on this list is heartbreaking
I was really rooting for Larry Fitzgerald to get a ring. I will never forget that Superbowl against the Steelers. When Big Ben made that throw to Holmes I thought it was gonna be a pick but damn it was a good throw and catch.
Keep up what your doing man❤❤
O.J. Simpson as an honorable mention is hilarious to me
I miss Madden. His voice is these videos is like he is still here.
So where's Fran Tarkenton? The guy won a league MVP in 75 & retired owning every meaningful passing record in NFL history. It's laughable & ridiculous that he's not on this list.
Actually, He is briefly mentioned.
Agree...it's pathetic.
Dan Marino is gonna be #1. He has to be.
P.S. After watching the video, I have no issue with Barry being #1. Great pick. I love watching Barry Sanders' highlight reels.
Sanders excelled at a position less impactful than Moss and obviously Marino.
Anyone know who said the quote comparing Barry Sanders to Charlie Parker at 25:14?
I figured Larry Fitz was going to be on here, at least as an HM. So close in 2011. Best Cardinal EVER and one of the best receivers all time 🏈👊
Edit: I meant 2009, not 2011
Right. I was coming to the comments to ask if I missed the Larry Fitz honorable mention. Glad to see someone else say it.
I agree 100%. I have so much respect for Larry. He deserves to have won at least 1 super bowl
2011?? Dont you mean 2008??
He was an HM
@@CaseyWinehouse you did miss him
Crazy to think that owens and rice played together for half a decade and both ended up as some of the top receivers all time.
Paul Krause 81 interceptions most all time how he not at least honourable mention 🤷🏾♂️
i love these i hope NFL never stop making these documentary style vids
LT was my favorite player. Definitely deserved one with San Diego
I remember the Burrow Brady comparisons. But I have a feeling it’ll be more like Burrow Marino comparison
Burrow isnt clutch. He had a chance to tie or win the SB and didnt get it done and had multiple chances in a tie game to take the lead at KC in the AFC championship game, and he failed once again.
@@anitafloyd2554 Yeah he was honestly the main reason they lost the SB.
As a New England fan, it was such a shame that Randy Moss didn’t get his Super Bowl with the team. I was also cheering for him in 2012 with the 49ers to win it against the Ravens, they almost pulled off that comeback. I do remember Tony Gonzales at the tail end of his career and remember TO from 2004 onwards. I wasn’t alive for certain players like Steve Largent but my dad has been a Seahawks fan since the 80s and Largent was a huge reason why he became a Seahawks fan outside of the fact that he (my dad) was born in Oregon.
Frank Gore deserves to be honorable mention!! Third all-time rushing leader underappreciated 🐐 💯
Most underrated RB ever
Larry Fitzgerald... Patrick Willis... Eric Dickerson... Randy Moss... Adrian Peterson... Junior Seau... Earl Cambell... Warren Moon... Curtis Martin... Tim Brown... Steve Largent... Derrick Thomas... So many...
Couple of them at least finally got won while working for the team when they won.
If Barry Sanders hadnt retired, he would be so far in front of Emmitt Smith that no one would ever dare compare the 2.
He is the greatest running back ever to play the game. Emmitt Smith isn't even number 2 so there is no comparing the two at all.
Hopefully Derrick Henry can win one so he doesn’t have to be part of a list like this
I hate to say it but Derrick Henry is never going to win a Super Bowl
Can we please get a part 2.
I love it when he posts
Rest in Paradise Mr. Butkis
Moss is the GOAT pass catcher, i will argue that all day and night
Pats fan here, honestly Randy Moss sucks during playoffs and when it mattered most
Adrian Peterson should be in the Top 10 list is stats speak for them self and that mvp award 👌
Dan Marino, Megatron, Barry Sanders, Larry Fitzgerald, JJ Watt, Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, Matt Ryan, John Hannah, and OJ Simpson all come to mind
San Diego is so nice, chargers should go back, I used to visit San Diego
Do a Top 10 Players That Never Won an NFC/AFC Championship Ring 💍
When there's no football or basketball I can always come to NFL throwback for some great football content.
I Love Your Video 📸 NFL Throwback 🏈🏉 Keep It Up.
Dan Fouts, Dan Marino and Archie Manning.Barry Sanders,Eric Dickerson and Earl Campbell there six from my peak years of watching
