    It is amazing in this day and age that they cannot make a single unit which will stop flashback and reverse flow.

    @805Blink The way I've always learned is to quickly turn off the torch after the whistling is heard and then do the regular shut down procedure. I may be mistaken but that's how I remember.

    Some say light torch with only Acetylene first (stink) and open Oxy after for safety.

  • @formidablefriend8228
    @formidablefriend8228 3 роки тому

    QUESTION: I know it would be unsafe to do so, and there would be no reason to do so, but what would happen if you were to crack open an acetylene canister and light the air coming directly out of the canister? Would it instantly blow up the entire canister or would it just ignite the pressurize acetylene coming out and create a flame (somewhat similar to a torch before you turn on the oxygen)?

    • @TheExplosiveGuy
      @TheExplosiveGuy 2 роки тому

      If for some reason you did this (dont do this) it wouldn't be too much of an issue, since there's no oxygen in the tank and the acetylene itself is stored in a porous material soaked in acetone there's really no way for it to burn into the tank.

      @@TheExplosiveGuy Thank you. I am asking for a scene that I was writing in a book. It was hard to get a direct answer, but I've gotten enough answers similar to yours that the scene should make sense.

      i think you can buy an acetylene flashback and connect before the lpg regulator. here i see they use acetylene version. but do more research. www.aliexpress.com/item/32864954407.html?src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=494-037-6276&isdl=y&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Gploogle_7_shopping&aff_atform=google&aff_short_key=UneMJZVf&&albagn=888888&albcp=9444695485&albag=99457316601&trgt=296904914040&crea=en32864954407&netw=u&device=c&albpg=296904914040&albpd=en32864954407&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjIzZ8Jvm6wIVFR4rCh3jKgMMEAQYAyABEgJsUPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

      Would definitely highly recommend advise keeping flashback arrestors on both acetylene and oxygen connections of your torches. You don't want to be on the bad side of acetylene and oxygen. It could tu a very explosive and deadly mistake to go without good quality flashback arrestors. As a welder and cutter I will not touch a torch or even be remotely close to it unless they are equipped with flashback arrestors. No big boom 💥 for me. I have them on my cutting torch and brazing/welding torch and I believe my propane torch has one built in from the factory. I don't play with safety. Be safe and live a longer life.
