A happy fellow…is a good fellow ! Stay Happy sir. If they wanted to give a nod to the original Marantz they should bring back the brushed faceplates and blue meters …
With you on preferring the Marantz 70, had just a slightly lighter and clearer sound. Not a lot in it to be honest though. I have never liked the curvered fronts on Marantz personally, but I do like the look of 70. One wish I would have though if I owed it, is that little screen round looks ripe for having some sort of digital power meter flickering away, shame they did not include that, being round to me its screaming for it. great Vid and thanks for posting
Interesting comparison. I can even hear the differences through my laptop in-built speakers. I preferred the Marantz 70 as well. How would the sound quality of the Fosi Audio V3 compare to the Marantz 70 in your opinion, while ignoring the price difference? Thx.
I thought it might be, but no harm in asking. I have an Aiyima A07 that is very good, but like other class D amps, it's still lacking body, a bit thin, but otherwise very detailed and clear. A subwoofer output could help but the one in the Fosi V3 is fixed and doesn't change with main volume, so is useless to me, and lacks tone controls. Or perhaps a Fosi BT20A PRO with tone controls might help add the missing body or fullness that puts flesh on bones. Just not sure if it's as good sounding as the Fosi V3. I'm looking for an amp that would compliment my Kef LS50 META and Magnepan LRS+ without spending thousands of dollars on an incremental improvement. If you get a chance to compare the V3 against the BT20A Pro, I'd be interested if there is a clear winner. Thx for your input. @@UTILITARIANTVUK
I didn't enjoy music on the Marantz Cinema 70 so added a Stereo Amp with AV Bypass to the Front Left and Right Preouts then added music sources to the Stereo Amp.
I’m wondering if you consider the Stereo 70s too? I’m still in the state of mind that I don’t want to deal with so many speakers but you’ve already gone down that road yourself. Cheers!
I have a Yamaha A s301 paired with Polk R100’s and a sub. Looking to integrate the TV via hdmi so I’m looking hard at the Marantz Stereo 70S which is supposed to be available soon. My current setup actually sounds very good and I could use optical for TV connection but I’m finding the slightly warmer Marantz tone appealing. You sir, are quite a character!
I had a Yamaha AS-501. In my opinion, the AS-501 was as good as the 70s musically, in a stereo 2 speaker or 2.1 set up. However, the 70s is a lot more future proof and you have the option to add more speakers.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK I have no interest in surrounds but I do wonder if I might benefit from a center channel when watching tv/movies. The 70S I was considering before I watched your video though is a “Stereo” model and has not been released yet. It has 75w per channel (but only 2 channels). Have you connected a center channel to yours, and what are your thoughts vs. 2 channel only?
I’m getting Marantz with Q Acoustics 5 speakers been looking for this video where it’s detailed seen others no way as good as yours thank you. You make me laugh 1st time setting one up so I’m going to look at this over and over thank you
My comment was removed for some reason by UA-cam. I guess because I mentioned the name of the biggest online selling platform with prices and it looks like it is't allowed, so I'm commenting again with some modifications. There is small difference and I'm not sure wich one I like better. Considering they are at similar price point (starting price at biggest selling platform in world was 849€ vs 999€, both are on discount especially NR1200) and you are going to use it as a stereo set up I think it is better to invest same/similar amount of money into 2.1 than 7.1 receiver because that can provide better and more powerfull components per channel. Saying that it must be noticed how NR1200 has 75/100w and 70s "only" 50/70w 8/6 Ohms and that difference is important if one want to use it as a stereo receiver as you (and I) and I guess lots of potential buyers.
Unless you have seriously hard to drive speakers or like to play music at plus 100 db sound levels in a large room, the Cinema 70 has more than enough power. It's not the quantity, its the quality.
If your paying over £700 for an amplifier, I would have expected the audio playback to be as good, as the cinema audio quality. Perhaps, the difference is due to the fact that your trying to produce 2.1audio sound from a 7.2 Home Cinema Receiver.. The Cinema 70 aesthetically is an improvement on the NR1200, which does look a bit dated I would have loved to be a fly on the wall. when you said to the wife, that you have to keep the two amplifiers lol. Thumbs up Martin.😀.
The Cinema 40 costs 3 times as much you moron. Same with the 4800. Did it ever occur to you, genius, that some people don't need or want 9 channel systems or require 125 watts for their system? Nobody said it was the greatest reciever ever but it does a lot of things very well for the price.
Good review and I like the humor.
Saving up for a Marantz right now, my wife would kill me if she knew what I’m gonna spend.
I find that lying about the price helps!😄
YOLO brother!
I too say the price too low and got in sale 😅
This is the exact AVR I'm saving up for. Marantz quality, 7.2/5.2.2, compact, looks good (especially the silver version), full 7.2 PRE-OUTS.
Yeah the silver looks amazing! Only got black to go with all my other kit.
Very detailed explanation. My set up is pretty similar except no tape deck. I agree the logo is classic 80’s. Brilliant AV amp. Thanks.
It’s really sound great 👍🏽, Thanks for all tech detailed explanation, I’m going for 70s

You're right, a VU meter on that screen is a huge missed opportunity!
Just one week after I got my 70s it stopped connecting to my phone via Bluetooth.
Very nice future proof and convenient machine. How it compares to the Marantz PM6007 in terms of pure stereo sound?
From memory, it's as good.
Hi there, its not your room issue, music sound amazing only when audyssey cal is off,its great for tv or movies only, awesome marantz❤

It's closer than you'd expect but the 70s is better.

I've done the exact same thing without my monoblocks the 50 watts just made my tower sound flat

It plays stereo very well.
How does it compare to PM6007??
Hello!
I know that you had a Yamaha Rx V581. How was that compared to this Marantz? Thanks
The Marantz is better.
Great review!! What kind of subwoofer do you use?
Q Acoustics 3060S

I’m getting one with 5.1 Q Acoustics speakers need help lol 1st time getting one HELP when it comes
Can you just connect your stereo speakers to a separate power amp and leave the rest to be powered by the 70s?
Yes, this is possible.
why is your tv mounted near the ceiling ?
70s a bit sweeter and female vocal sound lush and lovely 😍
Nice Review, in the soundclip at the end in my opinion i can hear too much coloration of your Room, a rug and some basotect would be beneficial.

Yeah, the 70s would definitely struggle in a larger room.

Nice tackle shot boss! Might be time for a wardrobe change?
It's for my only fans page.
😂

Unfortunately, the NR1200 will have to go. 😞
'your hate has made you powerful,now...fulfil your destiny and buy the marantz 70s now'
😄
Is the front face of this receiver made of plastic?
I am left to owe the 70s, I felt it very poor in the media, it sounded without strength, as without soul....... Best Regards From Mexico.
You legs are strong and best
70s is more natural and neutral
Tbh your content would be easier to take onboard if you didn’t try so hard with the humour. 🙂
Only aliens and really boring people don't like my humour. Which one are you?
I enjoy it. Keep being you!
So funny
Cinema 40 smokes it all day so does x4800h smash that receiver to bits there low end recievers man note special here
