Mate, first of all you are very welcome. Second, what an excellent video. Really good analysis of the kit from someone who properly knows their stuff. Well done Mikey!
@garys_stuff I must have done something right because a couple of people have messaged me after watching the video telling me they've since ordered an ICM or WW1 kit because of the video which is nice 🙂
This is why it's so important that these kind of kits exist because we only get taught about life in the trenches at most when it comes to WW1. We are never taught about the majority of the war which is behind the front lines. I'm thinking of doing some history videos about the vehicles these sort of kits are based on but in the mean time I can highly recommend a book on the topic called 'On the road to victory, The rise of motor transport with the BEF on the western front" by Michael Harrison. It's not expensive (around £10) and it's not a heavy read but It's an absolutely fascinating book that explains everything from how the British government prepared the British motor and haulage industries for war years in advance to how the transport, logistics, maintenance and infrastructure were organised and run on the Western front. It even goes into how much rations, ammunitions, stores etc they had to transport during the build up to the first day of the Somme and what the drivers etc went through to try and supplies to the men at the front which really puts the battles into perspective.
A very nice kit Mike. ICM offers a great kit for a competitive price that also serves as a base for super-detailing if the modeller chooses to go that way. Look forward to seeing this come together. Certainly gives me the idea of making this my first WW1 vehicle build. Take care, Jim
Great video! That kit looks so good and I've never built an ICM kit but looking at their instructions, I will be buying one of their kits soon for sure! Excellent instructions and I love the detail in the engine.
Thank you Matthew I really appreciate that, there are a handful of videos on the channel already, I have a live show on Thursdays at 10am UK time and Fridays at 11am. Previous episodes of both are in the channel playlists and I hope to have some more none live videos up soon. 🙂
You were recommended by Gary so that's good enough for me. I have to say he was spot on, you know your stuff and the video was extremely watchable. Cheers
@@BVPcreates I am not a great lover of vehicles, I build mostly aircraft. But the level of detail in this kit is incredible, also a fascinating subject. I have just ordered one and it will push my average modelling skills to the limit.
@@Slycockney ICM do a few WW1 vehicles, one of the first models I made was the ICM 1:35 ww1 Australian light car patrol which was the WW1 equivalent of the SAS and their vehicles in WW2
Great video. You have really gone into detail and made some great observations. I am now very tempted to get one of these myself, and I don't really make vehicles without wings.
Gifts are always nice. especially if they are within the hobbies community... Lovely presented video on a vehicle I never really knew existed, generally I think of WW1 as men, horses, tiny trains, that Fokker and mud! Shows my ignorance of the subject. ICM look as if they are a decent model making company, nice set of runners and a lovely clear and precise instruction leaflet that I can only dream of using. All these short run resin kits and card models which I build, you need a brain swop to the people who designed them in the first place to work out what the hell is going on!!! Perhaps I should leave that world behind and come back to something as simple as this, or maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment!? A history vid from yourself on this vee-hickle would be welcome
Thank you for the awesome feedback Martin, I will certainly do a history video on this vehicle if not this group of vehicles (as there were several variants). Don't worry your not alone in thinking that. A lot of people don't realise just how mechanised the first world war was, especially on the allied side. I can highly recommend a book on the topic called 'On the road to victory: The rise of motor transport with the BEF on the western front' it can be found new for about £10 online and it goes into the pre war history of the trucks and busses in the UK and how the preperations for the first world war ended up dictating the design of motor vehicles even today, how the impacted the BEF's logistics network, how they were operated, organised and maintained etc. Personally I love ICM kits they're generally a reasonable price and the moulding is for the most part superb, plus they also do subjects and topics that most other companies haven't even thought of.
@BVPcreates I think all war in general dictates how life progresses, especially on medical fronts. I shall have a look for the book at my local library, not enough shelf space for another page flicker! Usually, our library will order the book if they don't have it. They look upon requests as to whether it would better their own stock. Cheers for the recommendation
'ey up, Beardy! Why didn't anyone tell me about Sabaton covering Motorhead's, 1916? Saw it for the first time, today. The official video is brutal. Proceed with caution!

Forgot to mention, seeing Gary clean-shaven gives him the look of a "right honorable gentleman" in the House of Commons 😂
lol it does doesn't it. Luckily he's far to honourable to be one of them lol.
If you're going to be like that, I may have to ban you.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣
The ICM range has been a wonderful history lesson for me. I never knew these trucks existed prior to seeing them on modelling channels.
