These girls have done a wonderful job! I can tell they have practiced and got it down! The dresses are lovely and really add to the beauty of it all! Thanks!
I must tell you, with all sincerity, that I respect the traditional dances of all cultures. But this is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. I've watched it six times and it just gets funnier every time. I don't know if it's the music or the earnest nature of the kids performing, maybe it's the editing or the costumes...whatever it is, I find it thoroughly entertaining. I haven't laughed this hard in months. You must take this to the stage. And perform it deadpan, just like this. Brava!
Nice dance to be honest I never heard of the maypole dance until I started my dance appreciation class this semester :) this dance is a per-Christian fertility dance
The associations of the maypole and maypole with fertility go back as far as 1973, to the film The Wicker Man. Nothing about "fertility dance" associations in any writings prior to this.

Certainly plenty of fertile imaginations.
Doesn't get more Germanic than that.
