Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult. Alice Cooper 1975 Nightmare Tour. REO Speedwagon. Cheap Trick. And I had a few cars there at the Classic Car Shows there. Also when I was a kid we went to a Circus there.
On March 3, 1976 David Bowie had a concert there! (I was much too young to attend but by the early-mid 80's I was listening to his music). In addition to the 1968 Democratic Convention being held at the International Amphitheatre the 1956 Democratic Convention was also held there. In 1956 John Kennedy nominated Adlai Stevenson as the democratic candidate. Others in attendance were Harry S. Truman, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jacqueline Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Daley, etc.
I remember back in 1993 and 94 I believe I saw Eazy-E choice the rapper Scarface too Short in the concert I was 15 or 16 years old at the time I can't believe that it was knocked down I did not know that it was not down that was my first concert I went to it was so much weed smoke in the air my brother gave me his ticket cuz he did not want to go that was the best thing that ever happened to me before I was concerts concerning I'm glad I took his offer and went
My first two concerts of my life were here. I got my sister to take me to see the Doobie Brothers and about two weeks prior I think it was Uriah Heep. Both great concerts. I continued coming here thru the next few years seeing probably another 8 or 10 concerts here. They always say the acoustics were terrible here but I had a great time here every time. And what is it now? A uniform company and a grass lot, and Some of the Greatest Memories of My Life. Thank you Chicago! Turtle
I was just thinking about a concert I went to back in the '70s at the Int Amphitheater there seems to be little written about it and not many good photos either. Thanks for putting this up!
We would go to the circus there almost every year as we kids grew up . God the smell of the stockyards would make your eyes water. And the poor black men looked soooo very bad off. I didnt re.ember it being so big. I think it was the Barnum and Bailey 3 ring circus that we saw there.
Watched Roller Derby here in the early 70s. Was the home base for the Midwest Pioneers. Good times!

If he'd just make a Midtown Madness- like announcement about a race, all the cars would be zooming thru the grassland behind him 😂
