You have to be insane if it sounds "lacking or bland" to you. Groove is a feel, if it makes you want to move then its groovy. Its not about what he's playing but how he's playing it. Dragging the backbeat just a bit, shuffling on the high hat, etc 2. Of course, I know its a cajon. I'm a drummer myself. When I play Cajon I don't call myself a cajonist HAHAHA I just call myself a drummer. 3. A 2/4 beat is Kick Snare Kick Snare 4. Did you move to the music? Yes, so it's groovy.
