A lot of ancient short drama fall short a lot in costume, gesture, tone, dignified aura etc...but this one is a gem It's not a new script but delivered very well...I love that FL carry herself gracefully, every gesture, tone delivered with dignity of a noble woman

Fantastic version of this drama it has twists & turns the others do not take. Plus a very smart role the FL plays & the MLs role is very complimentary. Also not to much useless back & forth chatter that distracts from the plot. Worth watching, leaves both leads in a positive light with very wicked justice delivered.
It's the "general/marquis bringing his mistress (& child) to be an equal wife, so the wife had to fight for divorce" story. This plotline usually takes three pathways: 1. The wife who is also a warrior, divorce through an imperial edict, faceslapping the bad guys and goes to war as a female general- ranking higer than the husband and his mistress ☺️ 2. The wife, a clever businesswoman divorces through an imperial edict and marry another noble/ the emperor's brother. They live happily ever after. 3. The wife, a clever businesswoman, struggles to divorce as she also has to fight with the empress dowagar in addition to the family as the empress doesn't want the FL to marry her son, the emperor who is in love with her. She finally manages to divorce, marries the emperor and becomes the empress. This story is the 3rd version. PROS: The FL and ML actors were good at carrying themselves gracefully with dignity, so they were convincing as nobles. No physical beating/violence every turn they get. CONS: The husband trying to forcefully consumate took up a lot of screentime when it comes to thier interaction, as if there is no other reason for them to interact. As someone who worked in film in my youth, I know they include violence/r*pe scenes etc for those who enjoy that type of thing. But it was too disgusting as it dragged on and on and what he said about forcing women on their period was- just ew! I know it was a purposeful inclusion, so couldn't help but feel repulsed. FL and ML need to communicate better and ML emperor should be more convincing so the FL can also make up her mind. It was kind of sad to watch her internal struggle as she is literally a "woman alone fighting the world." Thats why the relationship went around in circles 😅 Maybe less drama (like with the noble ladies trio) and more wholesone relationship would have been better.
This is a great version of the “My Husband Returned from War with Another Woman and Child”-story. This has an emperor-arc that sets it apart from all other versions I’ve seen. In terms of storyline, this is the most interesting (IMO). I loved this strong/capable/adamant FL and protective/loving/powerful ML. I admit that I truly enjoyed this one. The subs are really bad, I've always read between the lines with other bad subs but there are so many mistakes that half the time I'm lost. Even the sentences are a jumbled mess, like using the same word two or three times in one sentence but the meanings are all totally different. Or when I thought the Queen was mad at the fl but she wasn't until the fl got giddy. I understand the pronouns are always off unless they are utilizing a real human and not AI. Gonna push through cause I like the fl.
