If you see this, consider changing the title to "how to fix minecraft's monetization problem" or something bc the video is more about that than an actual end update
@copuim_dealer nah, Joe is chill like that, not a wall that's for sure, rlly involved with his community. But I get ur point, woulda done the same if it was someone else
After watching the video, this is a controversial yet effective idea, im sure fans would appreciate more focus on updates whilst benefitting from perks!
I really do feel like *Mojang* isn’t the one to blame for the money thing. Especially recently, you can tell that the spinoffs and marketplace are a Microsoft thing, and not a Mojang thing. Even with the small updates the game has, you can see the passion with most of them. You don’t get that from the Marketplace.
@ Honestly, that would certainly be cool, but I think it’s honestly too late in the game for them to do that. Unless if something comes around in the future, I have a bit of doubt that will even happen.
Mojang made it clear that they're the only ones in charge, I hate Micro as much as the next guy but they don't have any stake in development. Minecraft is Mojang's only continuously successful game after all. "Even with the small updates the game has, you can see the passion with most of them." Uhh... where? (Regarding the more recent ones.)
The marketplace is a weird place, it’s at the same time a place where people sell overpriced anime skins, it’s a place where people finally can get a little bit of money for their mod, it’s a place where people ripoff other people’s mods, and it’s a place for brand collaborations which really are good projects and are games that last you multiple hours themselves! Also fun fact, the marketplace gets completely run by Microsoft, non of it is run by Mojang.
My biggest problem with the more recent updates is that almost all mobs are made with one singular purpose. Earlier mobs had a primary purpose, sure, but there were other things you could do with them. For example, cow's could be killed for beef, but they could also be milked for milk, which can be used in crafting or to remove potion effects.
100% true. And some of the new mobs' 1 feature is redundant. Glowing signs and glow ink could have been made with glowstone. It would be nice to see mojang go back and add other uses and functionality to older mobs.
As much as I love the Sniffer as a prehistoric mob I think the fact that it’s a one trick pony saddening, give it more plants to dig up, plants that could give new dye as in the ones Mojang removed early on in development such as Spring Green Wool
In my opinion mojang has done a bit of a back burner on big updates instead going for safer updates and adding new more random ish content to the game rather then fixing/updating features such as the end as a corporate move to not get into lots of controversy if they get an update wrong. Just my opinion tho.
I mean we'll probably get Brawl Stars x Minecraft this summer! Like wtf is that?! Minecraft Marketplace is basically Fortnites cosmetics with the prices of Valorant... (all this before GTA6)
Your solution is good, but isn't perfect. A lot of people want to affect the game and make it better without paying. This solution will only make Minecraft look like a pay too win game. Especially if someone who pays will have a different colored name tag (maybe I got that part wrong). But I don't really have a btter idea...
Pay to win feedback?? That idea is so terrible it ruins the purpose oƒ minecraft feedback, instead of what the community wants it's what the rich people want
That's a fair point, but it's not like the community will be voting against each other, like with the mob vote. Your vote isn't being competed with, and nobody can "downvote" ideas on the feedback page. It just means that issues people collectively care about will gain a lot more votes faster. You're not wrong though, if a large group of wealthy people favored a specific feature, they'd be more likely to get what they want first, but I'd argue that your favorite Minecraft feature ideas have nothing to do with how wealthy you are.
Microsoft is not going to stop till Minecraft is a micro transaction subscription service But no the End update shouldnt be the last. The game needs much more end game PVE stuff. At the moment most people fall off the game after getting elytras, defeating all the bosses because the only thing still left is game rule breaking farms and building. Thats it. It needs much more end game content. Last time me and friend played through on a private server, we would easily play on if there was more things to do. But like I said, as soon as that end game content is reached and done, people start falling off because there isnt much left to do unless building is super never ending engaging for you. Problem is mojang is too obsessed with pets and tree retextures and not really adding meaningful content to average players. Nobody I know, is gonna go on a mission to get pet number 675. But they are gonna stop playing when they defeated all the bosses and have elytras not because they sick of the game, because they bored theres nothing left to do. The building also needs a massive ugprade. Mining as well. But most of all post end game stuff.
It's possible you're right. The only way to know is to try it out and see what happens. I personally don't think it would cause problems, but only because the feedback page hasn't ever had a controversy before. The ideas on feedback aren't like the mob vote where only 1 survives, and any others are abandoned forever. Any idea could be considered, but nothing is guaranteed, and you can't vote against ideas. I doubt mojang would ever implement my idea, though. It's mostly just a thought experiment.
Hey joe if you would ever read this well 1. Thank you 2. Would you ever want to do a collab on bedrock edition for comparing bedrock vs. java if you do just reach out in my comments
You're not wrong. My goal with this video was to point out that Mojang’s monetization is their first priority as a business, which means updates/drops aren't. The proposed monetization changes would allow updates to be tied to Mojang’s monetization without making them paid, thus making updates Mojang’s first priority.
@@JoeBountyHunter Yeah, for a lot of more iffy stuff they tend to do now and again. I really hope this video gets popular enough that the community takes notice and tells this to Mojang. Considering how many people I can see subscribing to their service. This really does seem like the proper answer to our current update dilemma.
This is a GREAT suggestion. Unfortunately, I just don't think this will EVER happen. Microsoft is a corporate overlord who will not let Mojang do what they want to do- have a strong bond with the community. Great video and great idea. I sadly don’t think a subscription service like this would offset the cost of gutting the marketplace but there’s ways to get around it. Definitely a little worried to see what their plan is though given people aren’t buying new copies either due to back compat/growing kids not purchasing the game, and your solution feels like a good way to keep the game afloat.
Dang, I need a seed world with a gaping chasm. It inspires me to build. Man, it's good to hear opinions from a real adult who understands how business works. However, spinoffs & add-ons are made by totally different teams of developers, & multi-platform bugfixing & parity make updates take longer to release. Most players play offline singleplayer only. Giving Realm players more power over content update would make it Pay To Win & that would kill the game.
While it may be other teams that develop the spin-offs and add-ons, it still takes from the company resources and budget that could be re-allocated to be focused on updates/drops. Instead of investing millions in titles like Minecraft Legends only for it to die after a few months, Mojang could have used that money to hire more developers for the base game.
I mean, in paper is good, but it''s going to create a cycle of Mojang ONLY listening the Diamond Players, and they AREN'T game devs so they don't know what is good for Minecraft I prefer the option where they stop updating and let the game die already tbh
