You got it with the ballons being his burdens. The cart represents the cage that he walked out of, I understand that as fear trapping him. But he holds the keys, he references that at the end of the Outcast track. The people have always been interesting, there are different theories that I have heard from people. I think you already listened to Leave Me Alone, but I think they are meant to represent fans that are going through the same struggles he is. I have always thought of the black and white as a visual representation of what thoughts are controlling him, is fear, anger, depression, anxiety in control, or is love, hope, joy, success, freedom driving his thoughts. Just like in the Hope video, you see both versions and you see fear fighting him at the end, the smile returns and the dark representation.
My friend the rabbit hole is deep when it comes to NF but if they gave you everything you need to watch and listen to you’ll soon put the pieces together and it will blow your mind. I think NF is a genius.

It follows on from the exploration of the pain, self doubt and anxiety, detailed within "Mansion" and "Therapy Sessions", then the change of his "Perception" and now "The Search" for hope. It's my opinion that the black clothes represent Nates previous state of mind of despair, insecurities and self doubt and the white clothes represent his transitioning state of hope, inner peace, acceptance and self worth. As you continue through "The Journey", especially "Leave Me Alone", no doubt you will form your own opinion and understand the subtle metaphors.

Something I’ve noticed going back through his videos is that he has a lot of imaginary of a “white” side and a “black” side. A lot of people I’ve seen react don’t notice that in his Intro 2 video, the house is half white and half black. Another note is that in his Paid My Dues music video, the lockers he sits in front of are half painted white and half painted black. Which is the first video he introduces himself wearing white! The cart to me represents homelessness or being out of his mansion because he was in an abandoned venue in WHY and then in the beginning of this one he says he's gotta pack his things and move out and much like a person battling homelessness, they have a shopping cart of their belongings and his happens to be holding his burdens. I can see it being the same idea as having a cage on wheels but I feel like it ties better into him searching for his place and feeling like he doesn't have one anymore.

But just like Intro 1, 2, and 3, this song has no chorus, cinematic beats, haunting choirs, orchestra, and big beat drops--these you will find in every Intro (Clouds, Hope) for NF. IMO this song is a masterpiece. And believe it or not the next one, Leave Me Alone, might be even better. I seem to recall you doing that one, but if not it should be next. Lastly, you see the Cage in the background from Perception, the people in white have a little more hope than Nate at this point of the journey, Nate gets his white clothes in this video, he reminds us he hates Fame which will come back in Leave Me Alone and also is a callback to No Name when Fame first calls him. Starting with this album, honestly every song is a must on the next three albums. You are in Prime-Cut NF now!

I've always thought that white symbolizes being like everyone else. It's as if black is synonymous with being locked in your head with your demons. In Leave Me Alone, people are dressed in black and wait in line to be offered a white uniform. To become like everyone else. Be happy like the others. That's my opinion, you'd have to ask Nate.
