Katrin same here, never did surgery! Pro athlete for years. 30 years now I have learned my back. If don't stop accessory work and keep down inflammation naturally, I'm getting better every year,! Please know you got this! Learn your protocol and keep going hard! I swear! I have had flairups when I stop taking my back and core in check. I swear it will be fine. Dying now but great in 2 weeks. Stay away from the shots and prednisone. Breaks down your bones and joints. Done all that to complete. Bad idea for a year+ on. Take care. Please 🙏

I first saw Katrin the year she won her second title by watching the Games on TV - the year I "discovered" CrossFit. I thought two things: This is a seriously badass woman, and when the competition gets to its most intense phase she has the eyes of an assassin.

Wishing you well, Katrin! -Coming from a 29 year old who herniated my L5/S1. Did CrossFit from 2014-2020. After having that disc herniated for a year and a half I had surgery. Feeling much much better. I have taken a Marcus Filly exercise approach since then. With the correct nutrition, proper stretching, and exercise I am feeling much better. I get how mentally tough being in a situation like you are in can be (especially since you do CrossFit for a living-I don't). I wish nothing but the best for you, Katrin!

Listening to her interview is as devastating as page powers not able to go to the games. Hope you get healthy

Legend. I remember when Katrin was a teenager, entering the scene in UK, turning up at events etc. Happy to hear they're thinking about starting a family. I bumped into her and her fella in London once, they agreed to a selfie so I could show my wife who I just bumped into! Just happy, humble people. I wish them all the best 💪

I had a disc herniation that was in my L5-S1 and after trying everything for rehab I ended up doing a surgery to remove the piece of disc that was herniated and pressing on my sciatic nerve and it’s been 5 years and no issues at all! Healthy, had a baby and a vaginal delivery and my back did amazing - I still workout and do CrossFit. The surgeries are truly really not invasive and I had so much success with mine! That pain is debilitating, I was in so much pain for so long prior to surgery.

When you say surgery are you referring to fusion or ADR?

Sean - Would love to know more about the surgery you had - which one, risks, and recovery.

I had a micro discectomy between L4 and L5. I was back in the gym in about 6 weeks and was back to 100% around 5 months. I've had things flare up with it every now and then, but I haven't experienced anything close to the pain I was in before the surgery. I do know people who have had herniations heal on their own, but I think my was so far gone that surgery was my only option.

Thank you so much! My doc said surgery is the only option at this point after pain relief injections. Appreciate the information! Glad all is well with you!
