I live northeast of there. The snow from a month ago is still on the ground. I averaged out the high temperatures for the month of November and it was 33.4 degrees. This has been one cold Fall around here!
Hmm, I drive a semi for a living & the last person I would call for help if I got stuck in snow would be the CHP. Amazingly, they were doing a pretty good job of trying to shovel him out though.
@@richardm5218 I would say unfamiliar with conditions. I used to work for that company and worked with the Transportations Department. They were very thorough in everything they did.
@@richardm5218 I live in Chester CA. Most of the semi delivery drivers are coming from Reno NV. 1/2 unfamiliar with the conditions, 1/2 foolishness. This storm started like 2:30am-ish. So some Reno drivers were probably not expecting the weather. The logging trucks are locals we have two very large lumber mills within a 50 mile radius. They tend to drive like idiots in general. Saddest thing is this is a REALLY tame snow storm. Snow gets worse drivers get worse. I've lived here almost 7 years.
That is very funny, here in Charleston South Carolina, it is very beautiful and very Blessed. Charcoal grill is burning, getting some on thee grill. Enjoy life everyone.
California doesn't lose power as a state. There are a number of interconnected power agencies in California all tied in with the western grid so that power can be exchanged. Plus, winter is a time of lower power demand in California--most folks in that area heat their homes with wood, propane or heating oil, and supplement with electricity. In very hot summers, the grid gets stressed and we can experience rolling blackouts--but it hasn't happened in some time. We experienced days of extreme heat this summer without any blackouts.
@@nebraskafan4889 Most folks there don't use electric blowers because they just dont have the horsepower to handle the heavy snow. And, I would bet that the majority of folks just shovel the stuff. Electric vehicles--that is an interesting issue. Outages up there in that area in the winter are generally short term in a small area, caused by a line broken by the weight of the snow, or a transformer failure. Usually fixed quickly. But if it were me (and I grew up in that area), I would prefer to drive an all-wheel drive hybrid. Some folks up there have their own small generators, but I doubt those can put out the amperage to charge an electric vehicle.
@@richardm5218 buh buh buh i worked for a company called ShopKo. Every gas powered everything said, not for sale in California. So everyone in the Sierras has to jump the border to buy a snowblower that's worth a damn?
@@nebraskafan4889 Two stroke or four stroke engine? I think two strokes are not allowed because of air pollution regulations. I am not aware that four strokes are banned. I don't live in snow country, nor do I have a gas lawn mower, but plenty of my neighbors have gas powered lawn mowers and my brother in law has a gas powered snow blower up there. although he has had it for quite a while. Did a quick google--yep, all gas powered equipment will not be sold after 2024. But if you have it already, it can be used after that date. Guessing you are right--folks will be heading to Nevada to buy their lawn mowers etc, or switching to electric. Electric is okay if you are a homeowner, but very hard on landscaping crews.
We are seeing the results of our 150 year binge on fossil fuel. Global warming is irreversible and will continue to worsen throughout the world with extreme weather such as we are seeing in Florida, Buffalo NY, and the Southwest. We have reached the end of man’s life on earth. Denial will not halt the inevitable. Only Love, through the dynamic of unconditional forgiveness, will take us back to the home we never truly left. ❤
Living on the opposite coast, I always have to remind myself California has multiple climates.
I love Chester when we get snow. I live on the west shore and the drive to town this morning was fantastic.

Wish that was here in Chester Virginia.
No such luck, I love snow.
Snow is a job that falls from the sky. I have shoveled enough of that stuff in my life that I would happily never experience another flake of it.
beautiful trees.............
This isn’t a whiteout but I’m not doubting that it was at some point. Go mountain snow! I mean, because the west needs it.

I'm sure he didn't call then they just happened to come along and discover he needed assistance.
Time to put on chains is before you start out and then get stuck. Trucker was either foolish, lazy, or unfamiliar with conditions.

Wow, too much snow.
Looks like a nightmare to me!
I grew up in that community, and it looked to me like a typical winter storm.
Yes it is
Looks like it would be a bad time for Cali to lose power lol
How would electric snowblowers and electric vehicles charge?
