Mother of god...... best sounding VQ ive ever heard.......
Might see it at GridLife Midwest. You going this year?
@@speedacademy if the FD starts, yes! 😂 I'm very close to the finish at this point. I will let you guys know for sure if I'm going!
Cool! If you ever feel like bringing the FD up here to TMP, would be fun to shoot a track test video on it with you.
@@speedacademy oh yes, that would be amazing
false
Turbos are cool and all, but there’s nothing like a sorted N/A motorsport spec engine.
same goes for a turbo motorsport engine right? :p
Exhaust db rules can be a bitch with N/A cars and hearing damage is cumulative. That N/A soundtrack gets a little muted through earplugs. Every setup has ups and downs.
insertnamehere try a 410 sprint car motor on m5
Who said Nissans should be Non-turbo'd. Thats cute for German cars they are the ones that brag about manual transmission and natural aspiration. Japan should just stick to doing what wins and always proving in being the best.
Niko Neko no
That thing is inspirational for all us VQ owners
Inspiration for natural aspiration
BackIntoGear lol right !
I guess you VQ guys are gonna be pounding the doors at Jim Wolf. 😆
@@conradsealy9603 this is really sick but who knows how much money they put into this when you can just go forced induction of course for a fraction of the cost
@@backintogear9071 true but in most racing series N/A cars usually get to run with less weight. And then. There is that sound. I dont think it will sound the same under boost. By the way. Have you seen the Aston Martin Valkarie engine video yet? Look it up. Make sure youve got headphones on when you do.
Good lawd! That thing sounds like a damn monster man!
Josh Jones nice ep3 josh. I have an 05 NHBP
Best sounding engine I've ever heard!
It's a 420z now 😂🤣
Colt 45 420😏
Yeah smoking everything
And powered by VQ42HR
ok
I’m the 666th like 😈
LONG LIVE THE NA MOTOR!!!
Brings a tear to the eye!!! Amazing job on all the work that has gone into this car.
Would love to know the number of hours Sasha has pumped into this thing.......
Reminds me of my little baby..
This should be one of those random cars you've never heard of added to Gran Turismo
lol, there are 350z's in GT already
@@StanleyKubick1 this isnt any other Z
@@oldsklteg well in GT there is the race car 350z from like 2006. that thing is for sure bored and stroked to around 4 litres
Who hasn't heard of the nissan z cars? 😕
@@TheSupremeDominator this is a specially tuned z...back in the day especially like PSP days, Gran Turismo had these random tuned cars from tuner companies not many people had heard of
I was present during filming at TMP, it sounds even better in person! Good seeing amazing things coming out of Toronto!
Holy crap that sounds savage! Incredible sounding machine! Never thought I'd say that about VQ!
Hey VQ’s sound awesome, just not when a 17 year old straight pipes it with nothing else. They sound like mini GTR’s when they’re properly sorted.
@@-Sirens- agreed
@@-Sirens- like mine!
@@-Sirens- most G's and other VQ cars tho usually have a very annoying sound. no matter the exhaust. they all sound like high pitch fart can v6s. I'm a v8 guy tho so I laugh at pathetic v6s. however there is always exceptions and the nsx v6 when stroked to 3.5 and THIS nissan motor makes me jizz.
I literally love the VQ sound. The only way to ruin it is straight pipes. Smile everytime I turn my car on.
My God the sound gave me goosebumps holy shit, wow what a car 😳
Great build, I love Sasha's approach to development of this thing
H
I agree. The car is truly wonderful.

Sometimes I like to come back and watch this and other videos of Sasha and Kels just to hear that amazing piece of performing art he built. Poetry in motion. Best sounding VQ engine that I have ever heard in my life.
The oil pressure pulsation is really no concern, basically, as long as the bottom end is holding up. Bearing wear will be your first indicator. It seems you're sampling fairly quickly, so you're actually seeing the pressure difference peak-peak with data acq aliasing. You're going to need to a faster DAQ and a lab grade pressure transducer like a high UNIK 5000 to actually capture the wave form at about 3-4kHz.
I don't know how this Frankenstein engine is setup as far as timing drive, but what you are probably seeing is the oil pulsation from the timing chain tensioner. The tensioner will be most affected by the camshaft closest to the tensioner, however the VQ has a rather strange 3 chain setup with the exhaust cams running off the intake cam gear, so I'm not sure how that affect this pulsation. In a typical DOHC engine with a single timing chain, this is caused by the tension varying in the chain as each ramp on the cam(closest to the tensioner) lobe imparts a force on the valve and then the slack from the valve closing. In any case, it's normal for timing chain engines to have as much as 300kPa difference peak-peak from this pulsation. If you have VTC, you can actually see the phase shift in the oil pressure (relative to crank position) from the cam timing change if you're able to sample fast enough. I'd try to capture the peak-peak min and if it's >250-300kPa, send it! Even with aliasing you can probably capture the min pressure if you can hold a steady state condition for a few seconds.
In other news, I really love the development on this car! Proper engineering and fabrication skills.
1QuickSlovak wow it sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about..
@@cbar6537 he knows what he's talking about, just a bit technical that's it
This is a fascinating theory. I was wondering how you know all this in such detail?
I love the sound of traction control on a race vehicle. The first time I heard it was on my friends race bike (Suzuki GSX-R600)
OMFG... this sounds FUCKKKKKKING AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESOMEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VQ'S are a good sounding engine..as long as young dbags don't straight pipe them!
some people would make the best sounding engines sound like shit
Agreed. I have a 350z and I'm running long tube headers and a nismo exhaust. It's a 2008 he and everyone that tells me it's too quiet usually drives a beat up clapped out 03 with a muffler delete and a million stickers...
Same goes for the S54, it sounds like absolute shit when straight piped, but great with resonators.
I would think this is straight piped too... Along with other stuff.
What about an old dbag
Mother of God. The sound!!!! Thank you for the in-car footage, that Z is gonna be a beast when he gets it dialed in!
Always great to see how real you people are, no hiding at all.
Anybody that is into real world racing knows how much can go wrong anf actually goes wrong.
Thanks so much for sharing!
I absolutely hate working on these engines but my god do they sound glorious.
I love how detailed you and sasha get in the talks and how open he is to talk about a race car. As a VQ fanboi, I love this content.
I may be doing a VQ swap into a Nissan Laurel in the future [I also own a G37]
Much love from Alberta!
Thank you guys for following this build. Easily one of my favorites. I cannot believe how much R&D has gone into this over the years. Its like a prototype every time we see it come back.
This is a higher level that the usual street racing videos out there.
I truly enjoy this
I've kind of forgotten about this channel amidst the slew of car enthusiast options on youtube, but this one really sucked me back in. I guess it doesn't help there isn't a decent road racing track anywhere near me so I've always been more interested in drag, drift, and rally content. But man I do love most of the cars that you guys feature on your channel. Gonna go dig through all the ones I've missed. Thanks for the awesome vides, cheers!
Thanks again for always keeping us up to date with high quality footage of sasha's unreal car. He's a man of few words, so it's appreciated that you guys can get some media and some insight from him. Cheers
Sounds like a Le Mans prototype. Such a beast of a car. Great build
Rotary-level sound inducing! Amazing!
Incredible sounds coming out of that engine! The car looks properly fast!
Always wish I could have a powerful engine like this in my vq37 q60, never thought an N/A setup could be this powerful, and sound so incredible
This car is insane, I'm in love with this engine build and everythings that goes around it. Strong work.
love this! the 4.2 setup is my dream vq build lol. when i get back into a z im definitely gonna do this!
Good lads with the onboard footage and those shots of the car flying down the straight at 9.00 was pure eargasm
What a monster, absolutely beautiful.
Turbos are very cool, but I absolutely love the raw violent power that well built N/A engine have.
Ohhhhh wowwww I would push my first born kid down a flight of stairs for that motor.
IT makes every bit of the most beautiful sounding engine i've heard for all motor
Damn, you guys gotta let me know next time you take this car out, I wanna see it in person. The sounds this car makes is savage!
For the oil pressure, why not plug in a mechanical gauge on the dyno as a back up. Run it a few times to see how that reads.
That sounds better than the current f1 cars
Most cars sound better sadly...
Sound like a lil baby lambo v12, best VQ sound I've seen to date
NA All Day Everyday!!!!! 💪🏼
I'm not only surprised by a VQ that sounds good, but a VQ that sounds top tier.
i just fell in love with KELS all over again. great job guys
Sounds amazing
That sounded absolutely phenomenal
Got damn that thing is amazing!!
Wow I‘m impressed! For once a VQ that doesn’t sound like complete garbage
I literally came here to say that. Normally I'd say being the best sounding VQ is like having the 'best' kind of AIDS, but that thing sounds badass.
@@StavTech It's assumed when you speak or type that you mean something in a literal sense, but yeah it sounds unreal compared to the usual chewbacca-fart VQ sound.
People always say that VQ's sound like shit. I cannot agree.

I could post so much more videos. The engine in the 370z in the first link is also stock. The second is a VQ350DE modified by Renault of course
I don't think VQs sound bad. Most V6s have an odd sound, some don't sound desireable.
I think its the best sounding v6. Its like half the population loves it and the other half completely hates it.
Car sounds great. Has that classic mechanical sound. I would've loved to hear more from the outside of the car. Oh well. Cool race track too.
Honestly can't find anybody else on youtube with an NA VQ with this much hp
Wow, that engine sound gave me an eargasm!
This puts a new meaning to ALL MOTOR lol because this car is all motor now and ductape. God bless Sasha for this green beast :)
Awesome! Sick build. Great video 👍
Holy shit! Best sounding VQ in the world!
God damn that VQ does actually sound fantastic.
Is this engine rebuild the first of it's kind? Love the fact that it is N/A. She screams. And 600 is a very respectable number. The interior seems to be very sorted and well built. I have never heard of this stroked out VQ, but I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing more if it. And that's great!
haha brutally honest at 8:35 about traction and abs
Sounds like fun to drive though... Do we just close our eyes and obey the beeps like in F1 haha?
Feeding in throttle and braking hard are among the best parts about driving IMO. If I knew I'd have max traction at all times I'd likely be very bored. Plus I have lighter weight ABS in my foot and already brake when I see God so I'll save that $7k for the next build.
screams like a champ! amazing sound
Saw this at CSCS on Sunday, driver is insanely talented, and car is amazing
This is an incredible car. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Shasha is a genius. I love the new hybrid setup!
Beast sounds amazing
Nice work Sasha! Need to see the sequel to this video soon
Granted the Busso V6 might be the best sounding V6 ever, this though, this ain’t bad at all. Damn I love NA
This is the perfect example of "not every showcar is a racecar, but every racecar is a showcar". Temporal panels, scraches, a fucking hole in the hood... i love that light "mad max" aura that surrounds this car without loosing the performance (ok, some performance, but still fast as heck boii).
dude...that thing sounds like a monster! Damn!💪
I could listen to this all day😭
Have the same engine and absolutely love it, not as many mods tho😂
Sounds amazing Sasha! What a machine.
Sounds amazing ! Love an NA build !
That actually sounds insanely good
Sounds amazing. Can't wait to get back to Cayuga again and rip it around the track! :D
Why is everyone saying "finally a good sounding VQ"? Are you kidding me? Every VQ made sounds absolutely phenomenal. There is not one V6 sound that can get me to turn my head other than the famous VQ. Those engines sound phenomenal with their V10-like sound.
The gearing also seems very good for this track.
I’m not a VQ guy but wow, this car is amazing!
NA for life what a sound !! Sick build.
One of the best sounding cars I ever heard
In my opinion you cant make a vq sound good which makes this guy a wizard because this thing sounds nuts
That thing sounds amazing!!! Also cool to see someone tracking their Veloster N already :)
This is one of the handful of vqs that sound amazing
Oh yeah it sounds amazing!
That traction control sound cutting in sounds godly.
Man!!! That engines sounds awesome!!!!! Nice build!!!!
Best sounding vq ever wtff
i was gonna say that sasha would forever hold the title for best sounding vq with the vert he had, or this car in it's previous iterations.. but inevitably this is just him one upping himself. rad to see
That car is a fire breathing demon! DP how about giving us rotary guys some love??? Been a long time since we have seen any rotary madness
kinda sad my vq will never be to this point but god damn, i love this
Making good power without power adders is not for everyone thats why all pos go boosted and thats why i say Congrats for this incredible build!!!!!!
Sounds amazing. This is making me want to follow the same route. Good stuff.
V8 + sequential = amazing 😉
It's a V6
Jennifer Evans Sorry I’m not Nissan engine code savvy... but that engine sounds insane!! I’ve never heard a 350 or 370 sound like that...
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great choice in belts Sasha. I have the same ones in my Z.
Best sounding vq in the world
This is probably The first time I can say the vq is a good sounding engine and yes I own a 350z I plan to sell this year
Mannn ive seen this car go through so much lol Honestly have videos of the SG days in red, 10 or so years ago! what dedication to an awesome ride!
That thing sounds absolutely visceral!!
Sounds Sooooo good!! Cant wait to see how it does after fixing the issues. Gonna be a rippa!
Sounds awesome, very impressive work guys!
this car is nuts, seen it in person at CSCS
Speechless
I know...the stututu is a thing....but Highly Tuned N/A always get a special place in my heart....damn sound...
Oh god that tractions control sounds soooooooo good!
This dude done built a goddamn racecar. Sounds perfect.
