  • Our low-viscosity clear penetrating epoxy sealer preserves, protects, and repairs wood. Use it to restore damaged, rotten wood or to seal new wood. Environmentally friendly formula contains no harmful VOCs and no odor.
    Low-viscosity, clear epoxy sealer penetrates and seals for maximum protection. Restores damaged or rotten wood by creating a solid, flexible, mechanically sound bond. Easy to use formula seals new, porous wood to prevent cracking, checking, and rot.
    Available in two formulas: Regular (65-90°F) and Cold Weather (40-65°F)
    HIGH-SOLIDS, LOW-VISCOSITY, NO-ODOR FORMULA SEALS AND PROTECTS NEW WOOD
    TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy is designed to sink in deeper and cure stronger than other epoxies, without the odor or harmful VOCs. At a 2:1 instead of 1:1 mix, it’s only slightly thicker than other penetrating sealers, but that’s a good thing. Low viscosity and 100% solids formula means more material to fill the grain, seal the wood more completely, and provide extended protection against rot-causing moisture. And, because there are no harmful VOCs, there’s no toxic odor.
    STOP ACTIVE ROT, STRENGTHEN WOOD, AND PREVENT FURTHER DETERIORATION BENEATH THE SURFACE
    Our penetrating epoxy works from the inside out to saturate rotted wood deeply. It penetrates both the porous, rotted areas, and the surrounding, healthy wood. As it cures, it effectively bonds the rotted wood and the sound wood to restore structural integrity. Since it’s hard to know exactly where the rotted and the healthy wood meet, especially in cases of extreme rot, drill a series of holes into the decayed wood and inject Penetrating Epoxy to start the restoration process. It sinks deeply into dry, punky wood and strengthens it.
    MAKE TOPCOATS STICK BETTER AND LAST LONGER
    The longer an epoxy takes to go off, the deeper into wood it will seep. TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy cures slightly slower in order to create a hard, waterproof surface that not only prevents rot, but provides a stable coating for varnish, primer, or paint to adhere to more tenaciously. Since it sticks better, it’ll stay stronger longer to keep UV-resistant topcoats from failing. The longer cure time is definitely worth the longer-lasting protection and the time and money you saved preserving existing wood.
    DIFFERENT FORMULAS FOR DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE RANGES
    For temperatures from 40-65°F, use TotalBoat Cold Weather Penetrating Epoxy. When temperatures are 65-90°F, use TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy. Each formula provides excellent coverage and cure.
    PENETRATING EPOXY SEALER DETAILS
    Resists humidity, mold, mildew, and salt.
    Can be hot-coated to itself without sanding between coats.
    Once cured, sanded lightly, then you can prime, paint, or varnish over it.
    Cured epoxy improves adhesion of paint and varnish, extending service life.
    Penetrates more deeply and cures to a softer, more flexible material than 5:1 epoxy resins.
    Common paint solvents such as acetone may be added to increase wood saturation depth.
    Has no VOCs or harsh odor.
    Apply to new, damaged, or rotted wood.
    Available in two formulas: Regular (65-90°F) and Cold Weather (40-65°F)
    Sizes: Available in Pint, Quart, Half-Gallon, and Gallon Kit sizes. All kits include resin and hardener.
    NOTE: Measure the precise 2:1 ratio with the calibrated TotalBoat 2:1 Epoxy Pumps (sold separately), or manually by weight or volume.

    Total Boat pennetrating epoxy is what we use on our sailboat project. This stuff is great for sealing wood to protect it from moisture damage. We have been able to save some wood that was exposed to water and made it stronger than new. Easy to use. We love it.

      It depends what you are doing with the epoxy. If its for laminating, bonding, and filling we have better options like our High Performance Epoxy.

      We do not recommend using this epoxy on a charcuterie board. If you are looking for an epoxy that is safe for a charcuterie board, we would recommend our TableTop Epoxy instead.

    could i use this on teak?

    • @TotalBoat
      @TotalBoat  Рік тому +1

      Yes, you can use this on Teak wood. Generally, it is best to clean or sand the teak before applying. Being a hard wood, this product will not show nearly the saturation compared to softer, more porous woods. Many people use TotalBoat Clear Penetrating Epoxy to seal Teak before a light sanding and applying varnish.

    I just used two coats of this on my wood bathroom vanity top that I’m making. It is so beautiful!! Do I *have* to apply a marine spar varnish on top? or will this work alone for my application?

      It's not necessary but it can be done for added durability and UV protection if you have a lot of natural light coming through!

    Can this be used to thin your table top epoxy? Your table top epoxy is too thick to level itself out and release bubbles. Can the tabletop and penetrating epoxy be mixed 1:1?

    • @TotalBoat
      @TotalBoat  12 днів тому

      Do NOT mix Penetrating and TableTop epoxy together. If you would like, you can use the Penetrating Epoxy first to seal your wood. Then, you can apply your flood coat of TableTop. With the wood sealed, the TableTop will leave a glossy, bubble-free, finish!

    • @rfehr613
      @rfehr613 12 днів тому

      @@TotalBoat I've sealed my wood with dewaxed shellac. I don't need a sealer. The issue is bubbles within the mix, not bubbles coming from the wood. The table top epoxy is too thick to spread and too thick to release its bubbles. All the typical recommendations for shop temp, warm water bath, vacuum pot, torch, heat gun, etc are insufficient to loosen the epoxy enough.

    How long can I hold untill I apply wood filler after sealer is applied?
    Is it okay to apply filler after 2 days or 5 days?

    • @TotalBoat
      @TotalBoat  Місяць тому

      Hi there! You need to wait until the TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy has fully cured before applying wood filler. The curing time for Penetrating Epoxy is at least 5-7 days. After this period, ensure the surface is properly prepared by washing it with mild soap and warm water to remove any amine blush, and sanding it smooth.
