- Coral Reef Senior High's Cuda Chorus is one of the best in the country. Awarded Grand Champion at the Merrick Festival's 2011 Caroling Competition, here is John Rose directing their performance of Balleilakka.
To all of you that have appreciated this marvelous performance by the Cuda Chorus, thank you so much. I've shared your comments with these fine young performers.
I did want to pass along some sad news. Shortly after this performance, John Rose, the Choral Director was diagnosed with ALS, known as Lou Gehrigs disease. He was able to continue teaching for three years, then had to retire as he lost mobility, The disease finally took his life last year. He is sorely missed, but we remember him through his students and performances such as this.
You honor his memory by continuing to share this piece with the community.... Thank you!

I am very sorry to learn that John Rose is no more, but I am sure he left his indelible mark on all his students not just in the Cuda Chorus but in all the schools he taught before that. I hope my piece will also form part of the testimonials in his memory.

This is absolutely fan-tas-tic. I discovered that Mr Rose had a medical condition, ALS, which makes the whole event seem even more superhuman. We don't need Superman or Batman with such examples. The Grand Prize was well deserved.

This was simply amazing! The effect of the choir is superb!! The pronunciation was almost perfect! and I can tell this...I cannot do that fast part @ 2.22 even without the tune and I am Tamil....how the hell did these guys do it??!! this song was sung by one of the most experienced and top notch singers in Tamil Cinema!! Mind = Blown!!
Thank you so much for your kind comments. At the time the song was presented to the choir, they did not believe that they could learn it, but their Director convinced them that they could. They worked so very hard and were able to deliver a pretty impressive performance, even more so hearing your comments.
