President Ford's finest moment. A great speech about the disaster that faced the freedom loving people of South Vietnam in 1975. After a negotiated peace settlement in Paris, instead of the North Vietnamese abiding by the treaty, it flagrantly violated the terms and continued to attack South Vietnam. Hampered by a Democrat dominated government, the US was unable to support the South Vietnamese military as outlined in the Paris treaty. One bullet for one bullet etc etc.Basically the Democrats shamefully and disgracefully cut the South Vietnamese free and washed their hands of any responsibility. They ignored President Ford's plea and correct, tragic predictions and denied funding. The communists took South Vietnam and millions of lives were destroyed by Uncle Ho's philosophy. Hundreds of thousands drowned at sea trying to escape the communist doctrine and re-education camps. The freedom loving South Vietnamese that remained can tell you the horrors of those "re-education" camps. The communists were a disgrace. Yet we don't hear much about how they and the Democrats of 1975 let a generation of people suffer under the evils of communism. Hardly any "hip" films..only tripe from Francis Ford Coppola or Oliver Stone..who tried to trash the proud reputation of the US Military with Hollywood pap and make believe. Yet if you watch the entire speech by President Ford, he clearly articulates the consequences which tragically happened. You wont hear about this from the liberal scholars or anyone from the left. I urge you to watch this very fine speech by a God loving man who had great integrity and was sadly ignored. History has judged him with dignity, excellent foresight, decency and respect. The 1975 Democrats of the day were shown to be shameful, unremorseful and disgraceful cowards.

Interesting how all the remarks on Vietnam aren't part of this edit. "I am therefore asking the Congress to appropriate without delay $722 million for emergency military assistance and an initial sum of $250 million for economic and humanitarian aid for South Vietnam." Was a major crux of the speech and all.

What's the point of this video if they cut out the most important part in the history of this nation? This video reveals nearly 5 minutes of a 60 minute speech. Deplorable.
