It's called golden apple in english, prune de cyterre in french and pom ci terre in french créole. Love your cooking recipies. A real caricom chef😋. You seem very passionate by the culinary art of the caribbean and plus your own little personnal twist that you add to it. luv it! continue the good work.😚
They are called golden apples in Barbados. . Its funny how almost every island has their own name for one fruit makes looking up recipes a bit difficult :-D
I usually smash up the garlic, pepper and bandania and use lime juice w/ salt and some black pepper. I learned that smashing it up brings out the flavor more.
You should add a pinch of black pepper to it as well as a little brown sugar... a pinch of brown sugar really gives is a wonderful taste... especially the remaining juice from the chow
heh just this week my trini uncle challenged us to spell Pommecythere. btw Sugar Apples is something different in Barbados, closer to a Soursop in terms of flesh and black seeds.
Omg. Yesss. I’m in the Dominican Republic and yes I will try this. They are called joba de India on the southern coast and manzanita on the northern coast. What do you make with the yellow ones?
This brings back some very, very good childhood memories making mango chow and burying it for a few days. We also add scallions and onions. Hmmm himmm good.
Growing up, as much as I couldn't stand being in the kitchen with my mother forcing me to learn to cook, I remember her teaching me to make this. We enjoyed many weekends eating bowls of this and making and eating home made fudge with raisins. I miss her so bad.....thank you for making my day.....going to force my daughters in the kitchen to make some fudge (until we find a way to smuggle the Pomseetay into NY...lol). Keep cooking and I'll keep watching 💖 Blessings
