To me, Intervals is more than just a guitar-centric band. The way they (aaron+nathan) push the boundaries of complex rhythm to make it sound accessible to the prog and non-prog fans is the reason for their successes.
Yes, totally agree on that. What makes the difference is that they (along with few others such as ibuiltthesky) write damn good songs instead of just glueing riffs rogether.
Fair assesment, but you forgot Jacob. Aaron finally found the right band memebers. Old member's were great, but you can hear and see the collaboration on this record. Quickly becoming one of my favorite records.
I really like Aaron's overall approach. He's a very technical player that doesn't need to show bloat techniques.. he's obviously very focused on making the most high quality melodic phasing and uses good techniques to back that up. A lot of prog bands are just not a accessible listening because their writing process is backwards : write the most technical riffs possible and then hopefully construct some kind of melody out of it . Animals as leaders im looking at you right now . P.s I love tosin he's an amazing player and really nice guy .
I agree and Aaron and Nathan are insanely talented guys with amazing creativity (honestly probably my favourite band atm) but Jacob umansky is arguably the best bass player in the planet atm as well as being super creative and suiting the band perfectly so I think you missed out a key component there 😅
3:31 they way he expresses himself says it all... the joy.. that feeling of the music of what he's playing and passion running into his veins, the groove, feeling and majesty Nathan brings to Intervals is insanely GOOD
Love how much fun he seems to have while playing. The music on it’s own is insane, but it just makes it that much better to watch seeing how much he seems to enjoy himself playing it
Seen you guys at the Beacham in Orlando. As a touring musician, I've seen over a hundred bands and INTERVALS blew my socks off. The cleanest band with the biggest sound. Nathan is also now one of my favorite drummers. His energy is unlike any other! And he is probably the most open playing drummer I've seen as well. Hands just EVERYWHERE!
Trying to learn this song on drums has been a blast for me so far! And watching him do it flawlessly with a smile on his face is always rad. I'm gonna get it down at some point. 🤙🤙
He personally was an ocean of knowledge for me during my own studio build. Finally able to have HQ drum videos myself with his help. Completely personable and genuine. Always appreciate him and absolutely love his work.
Drummers brains are wired different i swear. My buddy makes beats never touched a kit and hes a complete natural and went from mixing and recording to drumming for a band we had. Good ass times.
Solid, fluid, smooth. Nathan has incredible precision with the double kick. So impressed. This is not even a genre that I typically listen to, but I find Intervals and Nathan Bulla's drumming in particular, extremely musical and tasty for this style of music. Thank you for sharing.
whenever he's hitting the ride it feels somehow intimidating, like he's reaching for something just behind me and slightly off to the side... the expressions don't help with that either probably dope playthrough tho!

I'd say its more aaron, and jacob tbh

The groove Nathan brings to Intervals has definitely given it a musical renaissance.
Great mix btw. Nathan does it again.
Amen
The "drummer face" going on in this video perfectly captures the FEELING of drumming. So focused and so happy because he's nailin it. I love it.
One of the best underrated drummers! ❤️💀🙌🏽👍🏽
Absolutely. My favorite, all AURAS´s drumming is pure GOLD
@@IsaacGlezDrums I agree! Especially from their record Heliospectrum, I haven’t really heard Binary Garden though.

This drummer a guitarist are on the EXACT same level, and page. They understand eachothers instrument. Beautiful 💘
Can't wait to see the play-throughs for DOSE
That 4 over 6 is amazing! This kind of prog structure reminds me Plini a lot.
Hell ya, all their subdivision/polyrhythms are fire. My favorite is lunartic’s 7/4 to 4/4 structure. Soo hawt
Loved Nathan's relaxed playing, music is to be enjoyed, not a competition.

I was reading this thinking this sounds like G😂 it is!
Mr. Bulla is a BEAST, and the Meinls sound CRISPY

INTERVALS | BELL THEORY
ha
Nathan looks like he's having so much fun... it's awesome. Great job
The way you incorporate complex patterns in the song and make it "easy to listen" is amazing. Really love the new album
That kit sounds amazing! Flawless execution too.
He personally was an ocean of knowledge for me during my own studio build. Finally able to have HQ drum videos myself with his help.
Completely personable and genuine. Always appreciate him and absolutely love his work.
Saw them live a few nights ago, and I'm still not over it. This guy is sooooo clean.
I just love watching this guy hit those drums
Drummers brains are wired different i swear. My buddy makes beats never touched a kit and hes a complete natural and went from mixing and recording to drumming for a band we had. Good ass times.
Nathan is simply amazing
Nathan's feel and touch is untouchable. Always enjoy seeing him live w/ Intervals 🤘
finally, another drummer playing the rim on the tom. I feel validated in my choices.
This guy.... Intervals, Is so awesome as a guitar player sometimes my ear wonders off to the insane drumming. Love it.

Glad to see Nathan alive ! Auras vibes
100% makes me want to drum again just to play this
Why are you not selling the jam tracks for drums?! You have at least one customer here (I would buy them in a heart beat!)
Idem!
Go to sheet happens
@@miinpajamas6680 Guitar & Bass...no drum jam tracks :(
@@albertocalvoirurita9827 ow nvm i didnt notice that :(
I mean dont drummers normally play by ear a lot of time :p
@@miinpajamas6680 yes; but I am looking for the drum jack tracks (drumless tracks to play over) not for the tabs…
Got damn ! good energy, explosive and clean. Bravo Sir Nathan !!
Just, wow!
I just found this on Spotify and I came to investigate. My life is better now. I am covered with goosebumps
that last part
Nathan and Matt Halpern need to have a drum-face off. Not a drum face-off.
Matt garstka beats both of them hahaha
you mean a drum-face face-off haha
Add Chris Turner to that competition. He doesn’t even look like the same person in his drum playthroughs 😂
Best comment winner.
this is true
That polyphonic ride sounds soooooo good.
Huge intervals fan but not a drummer, what does that mean?
He is living every beat of this!
This album has helped me so much
So good
Excellent Drum mix Nathan!
I like this mix better than the previous drum playthrough videos, the snare has more body to it
GOD I waited for this!!!
At last.. 😊 been waiting for this 🙂
Nathan bulla 😍
The snare sounds good
Put some respect on his set up! 💪🏽
U are the best, boys!
Ray Charles of drumming😂 so damn good!

I loved the drums way too much on this album!

My fav will forever be the fill at the beginning of the second verse 2:18
Greetings from Russia!
Guys, you rock!

Matt Halpern wants his mimic back 😉 and once again impressive af 🤟
Pants flew off around 4:00.
❤️❤️❤️❤️😍

Yo is there drumless tracks for sale??
Isn’t he the drummer for AURAS? Fucking love him
Holy snare Batman

10/10
i imagine drummers without drumsticks and drum kits. It looks funny.
Amazing cover though, I can only imagine playing this
This song has zazz
nice expression
whenever he's hitting the ride it feels somehow intimidating, like he's reaching for something just behind me and slightly off to the side... the expressions don't help with that either probably
dope playthrough tho!

Who let Donald Trump dislike this!? Seriously? It's over.
I miss the Intervals with vocals. The music is good, but lacks so much without the vocals.
Couldn’t disagree more
@@skeletor127 couldn't care less. Now they just sound like 25 other bands.
uhhh So WRONG.. if you want vocals. go read a poem
