I'm a student and you're helping me out a lot. £3 feeds a family but with just a couple of your recipes, I'm sorted for a week of dinners. Healthy, cheap and yum! Thank you very much! xx
I really appreciate you taking the time to create these types of videos. I'm coming across so many "what I feed my family in a week on a budget videos" that focus on the absolute cheapest way to feed a family but with some unhealthy items I'm not willing to use anymore. Your content is very helpful to me!
I am so so glad you find my content helpful :) I love feeling my family wholesome nutritious meals but I also like not spending a fortune so to me.. these are my favourite videos to make :) xxx
I’ve binged watched all of your channel over the past few days whilst awaiting my 8 year old little boys Covid results. Your videos have kept me calm and content during the evenings whilst he’s resting plus given me such inspiration for when he’s in better health. You have a beautiful family and are such a lovely mother. Much love xx
Great video! I became vegetarian almost 5 years ago, and I was super happy at how much our grocery bill went down when I quit buying meat! Great way to save money!
Yes having less meat in your shop makes a huge difference to your saving! We have about 3/4 meat free meals a week now and our food bill has literally halved! Xxx
Another great way to bulk out and bring the cost down of meals like Cottage/Shepherds Pie and Spaghetti Blognese and Chili Co Carne is to use half meat and half tinned lentils, you can get 3 for £1.50 in Tesco and one tin is more than enough for big batch and if you cook them out with the meat at the same time you will never know the difference....i do this all the time and it's so much healthier as well
Hi there, I'm a grandma who lives in South Africa. We are planning to visit our grandchildren in the UK in July. We will be on a tight budget and I was delighted to find your £2 and £3 meals. I'll be using those and some of your other cost cutting recipes. Thank you so much.😊
Always love your cooking videos especially the budget ones! Would love to see some more fish recipe ideas, these fish cakes look lovely and I always make your cream cheese salmon too 😍
Fab video! I’m constantly spending a fortune on food 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. Great ideas loving your channel ,oh and I made chicken Kiev on Tuesday night it was amazing 🤩🤩 xx
Brilliant, tfs, a few new ideas for up coming meals, would love to see a collaboration with you and Noel from the Radford family ( I know he’s has a lot more children than you) he also does amazing budget meals x
Kerry Whelpdale their you tube channel is The Radford Family, Sue is currently pregnant with I think their 22nd or 23rd child !! They are an amazing family !
This is such a great video Kerry. We're a one income house with 3 kiddos so we're always on a budget. Meat free dinners are defo the way to go when money is tight. My kids can be quite fussy especially with one pot kinds of dinners don't like stuff touching 🤣 x
I feel so good when I create meals on a budget as I would prefer to save money and they spend it elsewhere. Jamie can be a little like that with food touching too so I know exactly what you mean!!! Lol xxx
Great 👍 video From top of your head would you of known per portion is how many calories I’ve got a feeling ...you would now Just a tip Kerry ..u no wn u put ur spices in ..try and put them in before you put liquid in it this way it awakens the spices wn they get toasted on heat ..then add ur liquid and you will notice ur chillie will taste much better and different try and let me no
Oohh thank you for that tip.. I havnt heard that before so that is definitely good to know :) with calories it all depends on portion size but I would say the chilli would be about 300-400kcal per portion :) xxx
Definately going to do the tuna fish cakes. I struggle for tasty meals after a long day at work and pick up from school/afterschool/creche so these videos and quick meals are great!
A lot of people cook with electric pressure cooker.I have more than one most of the meals you make can be made with a pressure cooker.just wanted to know if you thought about using one. would love to see you come up with some more wonderful recipes for that.
I have heard so much about pressure cookers and have always been interested to try one.. I cook a lot with my slow cooker but I know pressure cookers take a quarter of the time than slow cookers do.. I need to get one and try it out :) xxx
I'm going to try the mac cheese with leftover gammon. I slow cook a joint and have gammon egg and chips, then carbonara and now can stretch it further with mac and cheese, Thanks, great video.
Another great video Kerry and wonderful meal ideas. Great seeing your boys tucking into their broccoli like that, I bet a few mums watching were envious of that. As to the breadcrumbs you made......CRUSSSSSSTS!! How could you dismiss them? Best bit of the loaf to me tee hee hee. Oh well each to their own I suppose. ;) x
Hehehe I think that’s quite a unique thing for someone to like crusts!! I am now going to save all of mine for you!! Hehe!!! Honestly.. they always go to waste in my house.. I wish I liked them!! Hehe xxx
Ha ha thanks for your reply. Currently not eating bread as trying the keto lifestyle, luckily not missing it. Not long ago learnt (every day's a school day! & not sure why I never knew it before) instead of eating your way down the loaf, you should replace top crust back in the bag to keep loaf fresh. I started doing this, but it would always frustrate & annoy me I had to wait for bread to be finished before I could lay my hands on the two coveted crusts. LOL. Not sure where the love came from other than the memory of always being told by mum and Nan "eat your crusts it'll make your hair go curly" (though they probably meant the crust on each slice rather than the end pieces). And this was nuts really as an old wives tale given genetically how curly my family's hair is anyway!! FYI best crusts of all....homemade bread. Have a lovely day xx
@@KerryWhelpdale I was thinking of adding lentils to cottage pie and butternut squash to mac and cheese sauce to increase nutrition but keep cost low. I've tried both before and it's delicious.
I love this but I thought you could challenge yourself to make a meal with £3 coins. What I mean is to go to shop and spend just these £3 and make something. I recently spoke to a single mum who has very very little. I donated some of our food we over stocked up on. She explained to me that she never has enough money left over to stock up on things or buy things like spices as it cost too much. Things like big bag of "anything" us out of her small budget even if it means it would get split into cheaper meals. Does that make sense? Meeting her made me really appreciate what we have. I never pay attention to being able to buy the most basic ingredients.
If she goes down the Middle East isle the big bags of spices are £1.. they are such great value and so much better than buying the pits as most of the pots are £1 too and have about 1/20th of the amount of spices than the big bags do.. they are great.. when you next see her, defo tell her about those isles as so many people don’t know about them :) xxx
She said the problem is that she rarely has pound spare. She will go food shopping with 2.50 in her pocket buying only the cheapest and discounted products. I never really thought about how hard it must be living like that, often having no oil at home and no money for it etc. She is a good person, paying her rent wonderful mum. Dad walked away and she is spending almost all of her money on childcare. The thought is that if she manages for long enough kids will get funded hours in school and she will start having more to live on. I was thinking I will make her a little package with usual spices, stock cubes, tins and some dry goods like cous cous. But I would love to have more resources for her too 😊

You can use pudding rice to make risotto to save even more money. Great video!
Oohh I’ve never used puddings rice for risotto so I’ll need to give that a try :) xxx
I've used pudding rice for Japanese recipes too. Cheaper than sushi rice!
Lullaby Melodia and Nordic Noir, fab ideas thank you both :-) x
