My biological family is from Spruce Pine. l find this video fascinating. It’s funny they know nothing about me , but l know lots about them except what town our ancestors came from and my bio family still live at.
Now l am getting my first view of what might have been , l grew up in the NYC area and my life couldn’t be more different than this . Not better or worse , but different.
    Thanks for posting .

Looking forward to part 2! Prayers for you and your Mom. Okay, now I am hoping you will share some of your paintings. Now back to the tour of the small town. Loved hearing about the various buildings and your memories of your time there. So many interesting bits of information. Thanks for sharing.

I stayed at the Richmond in for a couple of nightsvsone years ago. Sunday night I walked to town. The streets were absolutely empty. The only place I met someone was at El Ranchero where I had dinner.

Man brother, as many of these videos as you make walking or driving through the Carolina hills I'll watch. I spent a few years in Western NC and have always had a really special connection with it. Hope to call it home again someday.

I love these videos always. It is great to see other parts of the US I wouldn't normally get to see. I hope you got to see your Mom after this trip.

Oh no I hope your mom is okay. Thank you for showing us around town, I love small towns so does my family and I guess that’s why we left Maryland and moved to Pennsylvania. The problem is that most small towns are becoming big and a lot of farms are growing houses 😢. Thank you for the beautiful views and I truly hope your mom is okay. 🙏

You’ve reminded me, I too bought a guitar there - black with one knob is all I know, and an Orange Squeezer!

I don't think I've ever seen a medical complex with so many empty parking spaces. Out this way you are lucky to find parking at any facility.

Thanks for watching as always brother. Yes - that parking lot is usually more crowded, but it was very early on a Saturday morning, and there just weren't many visitors there yet. It is also a small community hospital - so never super-crowded.

@@tonyleeglenn Round here it is crazy at every medical office no matter what time of day. If they are open, they are busy.

I didn't know that about how the streets were named, or the man in the rock wall. The town has changed a bit since I came here in the mid '80's

I had to come up again this morning Adam. I was surprised to see the snow. Cold for sure up there this time of year. I show the Wal-mart and more in subsequent videos. Very cool to visit the old home town.

the rivers from my lay perspective: S. Toe meets N. Toe and soon pick up the Cane, where it becomes Nolichucky, then meets and becomes French Broad, meets Holston = the Tennessee, meets Emory and Clinch, meets and becomes the Ohio, then into the Mississippi at Cairo, Illinois > south to Gulf of Mexico.⛴️

This is an awesome breakdown of how those raindrops get to the Mississippi. Love this comment.
