    Don, Loved your video, a few years ago I payed top dollar for one of those "correct" starter solenoids in my 69 eliminator. I got 3 starts , before it when to self starter destruction, luckily I hadn't tighten the battery terminal yet . THANKS for the heads up
    on the other products, IF you have to use them at least you know what your getting into.

    He is correct about being able to leave feedback on other sites. I was surprised to find that when I left a negative review with a major Mustang supplier for a pump to carb fuel line I purchased, which did not even come close to fitting, it was simply ignored. I even posted it again then called to inquire and was told that they had no idea why the review wouldn't post. Why have reviews then? My only intention was to help someone else out.

I told them if you dont buy from these that are making cheap parts maybe they have to change things for the better. I know the chevy guys when it comes to Corvette they dont put up with it there parts are better made i know i had two of them

    Don thanks for putting an honest word on some of this stuff. I've yet to get started on my 70 XR7 so I don't have money invested in parts yet. Also watched your best of video. 💪👍💪👍 on both of them. 1/4 panel representation, learned that the hard way on my 65 Ranchero, a place out Michigan punches this junk out and sells it for $200.00 a side. My body man did a nicer looking job repairing the original 1/4s than those turkeys in Michigan punch out😠 As always keep up the good work.👍

    This is a bit off topic but do you have any videos on fixing brakes on a 69 XR7? It has rotors and I hear it isn't really the easiest to do and I'm not real mechanically inclined on cars especially Ford stuff. Haven't worked on any till now.

    • @WestCoastClassicCougar
      @WestCoastClassicCougar  5 років тому

      Define "fixing." What's wrong with them? The only brake-related video we have is the drum-to-disc brake conversion on Andrew's car.

    • @gtemplesrt8
      @gtemplesrt8 5 років тому

      @@WestCoastClassicCougar not sure what's up for sure. Looks like they someone replaced the master cylinder and booster but I basically have no brakes so I'm thinking it will need rotors and pads and drums on rear but I hear the rotors with the bearings can be a pain. I have the brake light showing on my gauge panel.

    • @WestCoastClassicCougar
      @WestCoastClassicCougar  5 років тому

      @@gtemplesrt8 The old brake fluid probably needs to be purged out, new fluid put in, and the system should be bled. Not sure what condition your other components are in, but this would be a good place to start. On the rear drums, it's usually a good idea to change the wheel cylinders if the car has been sitting for a long time.

    if these parts are so bad, why even sell them?

    • @WestCoastClassicCougar
      @WestCoastClassicCougar  5 років тому

      In most cases we list them because they are the only one available new, or for comparison because they are what other parts companies are offering. In many situations we have good used versions that we recommend in the products description.

    The repo windshield molding are for sure junk. Try and pound them on and they bend like aluminum foil...OEM moldings only for sure.

    What do you recomend for a alterator with a little more amps? I have a 68 cougar i drive a few times a week here in alabama and ive tried the 1 wire and 1g upgrade from powermaster..both sounded like i had a supercharger so i have the original 68 alternator on right now.

    • @WestCoastClassicCougar
      @WestCoastClassicCougar  8 місяців тому

      We only stock a 55 AMP stock rebuilt alternator. I would recommend reading through the threads about alternators on the Classic Cougar Community. There are over 4K classic Cougar owners on the forum swapping experience and ideas about their cars, so it is a great resource for any Cougar owner. A bunch of owners have tried different things with varied results: forum.classiccougarcommunity.com/search?q=alternator

      There are 2 main reasons we list these items:
      1. Often they are the only reproductions available. If you got a hole that needs filled, these are better than nothing.
      2. They are what other sellers offer, but they do not tell you the truth about the product. We list these as a comparison to a better reproduction or in comparison to a used version. And yes, there are quite a few times when an old used one is significantly better than the new shiny version.
      We will sell these to you, but we want you to know in advance what you are getting, not discover it after you get it in the mail. There are quite a few customers who did not want to spend the additional cost for the higher quality versions but email us later saying they are glad we told them about the faults in advance because they would have been pissed to find out after they got it.
