Yes. A little out of place... You mean? Now whip out 200 meters of climbing rope, put down a kayak instead of taking out the golf clubs might win some points & break the stereotype. Then again it's a vehicle for the parvenu.
they r my dream car but idk if i would take my own 2013 range rover supercharged sport suv through any of this since it is a $200,000 SUV but i agree that it does make me smile that they do this all
That was fun. It was nice to see how amazing LR did with stock Michelin tires. It reassures me that the Rovers can tackle rough terrain even with normal gear. This was helpful especially if you veer off course unexpectedly.
That was not the intention when the Range Rover first came out. It would've been very easy for them to make a large soft roader, but the Range Rover has always been an exceptional off road vehicle in it's stock trim. Plenty of people go offroad in them, the lack of youtube videos is not any indicator that they don't.
The Range Rover simply does it all and it quite amazes me, even with a hearthrob on its maneuverability on those rough terrains against the slightest scratches or damage.❤❤❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The idea with the Range Rover is that it can do everything well. It does have off-road ability (though you might be scared to scratch it), but it's also a seriously capable limo.
For big ass vehicles with city slicker tires I have to say they did amazingly well. If they had slapped on some mud or all terrain tires they would have walked through all of that. All said, I still want one.
Yes they do. In the UK, LR Range Rovers, Discoverys (LR4) and Defenders (the most common) are all used off road even though the majority of owners use them in the city.
with the today technology, it's not hard to produce a capable 4 wheel drive, and the Range Rover is one of it. However, off roading is not just going outside for a try, a good 4X4 is the one who can do this on all terrain during years. That's why a Land Cruiser, or a Land Rover Defender goes into history for its real off roading abilities ...
@Ramon25D Yes it is. In terms of the abs actuated traction control. You need to give it some throttle in situations where you have three wheels spinning for instance. It will get power to the last wheel with traction. They both have better 4wd drive systems than the classic mechanical centre diff type.
By the look of the video, it looks like all-season tires. Not good tread patterns like you would find on a wrangler. Looks like this SUV would do awesome with better tires!
It frustrates me how many people miss the point here, talking about how good for example a jeep is off road and this that and the other. People must remember that as well as exceptional off road qualities the Range Rover also has exceptional on road manners too, simply better than any other manufacturer can manage (especially for such a large car). Also the level of luxury and refinement on offer (ie the package as a whole) cannot also be matched. £ for £ the best car in the world right now.
Yes it is. Although this off road terrain is probably the easiest type of off road terrain that there is, as it is dry and relatively solid. :) Difficulty increases greatly on soft terrains, like mud, deep snow, wetlands, wet rocky terrain.
To everyone complaining that they aren't using 'proper' tyres; the point of this Range Rover is that you don't need them to do this kind of stuff! Why ruin the car's awesome ability on road, when it is already fantastic off it?
Masini elegante, super tehnologizate si cu preturi foarte mari.Sunt convins ca marea parte a proprietarilor nu o vor baga nici macar la un off road soft.Jante pe 20" si cauciucuri de sosea,in off road.....nu prea cred!
no, you also get luxury, comfort and the ability to travel for thousands of miles without getting deaf from the noise or break your back from the hard suspension like you would with a wrangler. obviously a wrangler is better off road, but thats about its abilities. the minute you touch tarmac you feel like you are back in the 50s
my heart was beating quickly for 21:28 mints .. love you my rang rover 2013 .. am from Dubai.. I have a 2010 one .. gonna buy it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon
I apologize. It was rash of me to respond that way, and realize that you had wanted to prove the capability of stock from showroom Rovers to do some heavy off road terrains. I did try to correct myself after that comment but encountered an error.
From looking at this video, all this has proven is that they've developed a pretty good traction control system. I know that it's on BMW tires, and for a vehicle this size it has done quite well. However, putting the green oval on this this is a oxymoron. You look at what LR use to do with the camel trophy, and the G4 challenge, this new model wouldn't make it 200 yards! And if a land rover can't handle the camel trophy, it doesn't deserve the name range rover.
seems to be a lot of haters out there. For what reason ? it's a niche card and a pretty capable one at that. I wouldn't buy one but I like it for what it is.
with all due respect, cars are reliable so long as the owner takes care of it, i got a 2nd hand defender, the previous owner babied it, as do i, (look at my vids, i still offroad with it) but it has never once failed me....apart from the light switch.
went through your comments. They are ego powered and not mind powered. Maybe you could never afford a proper range rover. Though i dont think your ego will let you understand this but let me take you to your level of an object. You pay more for a watch and wear it because it can work 30 meters under water. Not that you would swim wearing it but the fact that it can go there is enough for peace of mind that rains wont damage it. Same goes for rangie. You might not take it there but if you do. :-)
you need to just slam the throttle to get the traction control stuff working on these. my subaru outback is the same if you drive it in a swampy field. to be fair, the range rover was doing pretty damn well considering the tyres were completely inappropriate. give me a classis any day though :)
The thing is. These range rovers can do well off road. As long as you have tyres that are designed for it. Normal street tyres you get from a vogue are quite shit. Also if the people driving had any idea what they had to do it would be better.
THe main issue is the tires, the 4 wheel drive system is good and it looks as if those models are equipped with diffs, but I have a more agressive tread pattern on my S line Audi. If they where equipped with low profile BFG ATs they would have fared much better! But to be fair the 2013 Range Rover is not really designed for heavy off roading. As for stock ability and comfort cannot beat the 2013 Jeep Rubicon.
The guide was giving them the correct advise, no "on & off" of the throttle. They were all doing it and that's not how to drive these things...stay in it, not too much, not jamming the gas, but steady.
The limitations of a Land Rover are seldom reached by their owners... True That doesn't mean we don't take them off road... It just means we can afford to fix them when we rip off a rear sensor or bumper! Quite often the people who rant about these vehicles are not capable of owning one... or You are Jeep drivers who think your vehicles are as capable...
Unless you have lockers all you will do is spin one front and one back tire and go nowhere, not to mention how easily you will get high centered, unless you have a big lift. Only way an F250 could even come close to half of what a rover will do is if you add lockers and modify it. F250 is great at what it was designed for, rock crawling isn't one of them.
Igor K Yes I agree, those off road tires are useless unless you offroading on mud and rocks where need extra propel from the edge of the tire. The point is this Range Rover doesn't need large offroading tires to do what Hummer H1 did, it have the traction control, suspension, differential, ESP, etc... To kind of replace some expansive mud focused off road tires. That's what makes RR special and of course, still take skills for offroading but you need less in RR than you need in Jeeps and Hummer.
Igor K True, the brake traction control of the Hummer H1 does the works easily by applying brakes. Torque send to the good traction wheel mechanically.. And there's tire pressure adjustment, etc.... But the tire of that H1 does most works I guess, the Range Rover doesn't have the tire, so it must relied more on electronic aids. The traction control does the works automatically. Also electronic suspension, adjustable anti roll bar link, etc.... Does makes it works even better than the Hummer H1 I guess. Just imagine the Range Rover have the same tire as the H1. The Jeep however, is another story, beside managing suspensions, gear ratio, etc.. You have to take care of the engine too... Much more difficult to operate.
Igor K Yeah, I watched Top Gear testing RR sport. Those plastic shirts comes off.... They need to either lift the car and use some steel or at least aluminum.
I don't know what it is, but every time I watch a Range Rover off-roading it makes me smile. :-)
Me too
Yes. A little out of place... You mean? Now whip out 200 meters of climbing rope, put down a kayak instead of taking out the golf clubs might win some points & break the stereotype. Then again it's a vehicle for the parvenu.

Not even close to $200k
It makes me buy one but I cant afford it
That car is immaculate! It's beautiful and i luv how it looks, very expensive and premium quality! Makes it definitely look modern and futuristic!
That was fun. It was nice to see how amazing LR did with stock Michelin tires. It reassures me that the Rovers can tackle rough terrain even with normal gear. This was helpful especially if you veer off course unexpectedly.
That was not the intention when the Range Rover first came out. Range rover is like iPhone, still expensive but has a wonderful performance 👏
The Range Rover simply does it all and it quite amazes me, even with a hearthrob on its maneuverability on those rough terrains against the slightest scratches or damage.❤❤❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Indeed! Lots of Americans who don't understand the concept of 'wheeling' without 39" Super Swampers fitted.
Those babies crawling was the most beautiful thing...
The idea with the Range Rover is that it can do everything well. It does have off-road ability (though you might be scared to scratch it), but it's also a seriously capable limo.
Nice coverage of the trail performance - appreciate the long cut.
Till this day Range Rover is stillthe mother of them all 🤩🙌🏾
from this i learned that inorder to go offroad in a range rover u need to bring the whole land rover crew with u !!!!!!!!!
The Range Rover is in a class of its own for sure!
The best off road car ever
this show that it's all about the driver, pretty sure that these guys never had any off-road experience to begin with
Nice! Gotta find some good AT tires in those funky low profile sizes .
Great car is someone actually knew how to drive off road !!!
with the today technology, it's not hard to produce a capable 4 wheel drive, and the Range Rover is one of it. However, off roading is not just going outside for a try, a good 4X4 is the one who can do this on all terrain during years.
That's why a Land Cruiser, or a Land Rover Defender goes into history for its real off roading abilities ...
Considering road tyre pressures, these things performed incredibly.
The most intelligent car on earth..the car has brains with that amazing traction control system
normal tires.
this was an event for auto journalists to demonstrate Rang Rover capabilities right off showroom floor with no special options.
Make sense... In any colorado trailhead the owner would feel totally out of place.
@Ramon25D Yes it is. In terms of the abs actuated traction control. You need to give it some throttle in situations where you have three wheels spinning for instance. It will get power to the last wheel with traction. They both have better 4wd drive systems than the classic mechanical centre diff type.
With proper tires and an experienced off road driver, these things would be unstoppable. I'm impressed.
ua-cam.com/video/AWYH1Qs3JAc/v-deo.html yesssir!
By the look of the video, it looks like all-season tires. Not good tread patterns like you would find on a wrangler. Looks like this SUV would do awesome with better tires!
Its a beautiful car with impressive off road capabilities not for something way to extreme thaw but for a luxury suv it's impressive
Rough and tough
It frustrates me how many people miss the point here, talking about how good for example a jeep is off road and this that and the other. with street tires amazing
why they doesn't use off road tires?? porque no usan las llantas adecuadas para off road? disculpa mi inglés :)
yes, this is real off-road terrain. we are just inexperienced drivers.
eso explica el no uso de bloqueo de diferencial
+Igor K rear diff lock is optional
it is, i went to the configurator and saw that rear lock is optional but terrain response 2 is standard except for the very base model.
Igor K rear lock isn't included but its optional and low gear is standard
Yes it is. Although this off road terrain is probably the easiest type of off road terrain that there is, as it is dry and relatively solid. :)
Difficulty increases greatly on soft terrains, like mud, deep snow, wetlands, wet rocky terrain.

Wonder if they have rear lockers? And if the even had A/T tires make a HUGE DIFFERENCE!
THIS IS A REAL SUPER CAR, WILL BUY ONE FOR SURE
Wow awesome I already did that in Miami , was excellent experience.
no, you also get luxury, comfort and the ability to travel for thousands of miles without getting deaf from the noise or break your back from the hard suspension like you would with a wrangler.

really good video though, love the new range
so does this car have locking differential? it doesnt look like it has it
First thing you notice is how the independent suspension lacks the articulation u get with a fixed axel
need offroad tires bro
Plz more information about internal apration now u show in video
How is the reliability of this model compared to other Range Rovers ?
my heart was beating quickly for 21:28 mints .. love you my rang rover 2013 .. am from Dubai.. I have a 2010 one .. gonna buy it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon
Best SUV Range Rover
Hi there, I really enjoyed your video, I am putting together an off road compilation of the L405, and wondered if you would like to be included?
ok
@@AutoNetwork Thank you, I will be sure to credit your channel as the source of the footage.
I think all-terrain tires would do it some good. Seems to me like it was having a hard time getting a hold of the ground.
I apologize. It was rash of me to respond that way, and realize that you had wanted to prove the capability of stock from showroom Rovers to do some heavy off road terrains. I did try to correct myself after that comment but encountered an error.
Of course, these tires are not for off-road, but I am impressed with the off-road abilities of this car!
My father traded in his 2011 Gl450 for this, I absolutely love the new Range Rover

What do they do with these vehicles after they trash them offroading? surely they cant sell these on?
Love it! Such a capable vehicle
You're probable referring to the older models. Land Rover become serious at addressing these infamous issues.
you need to just slam the throttle to get the traction control stuff working on these. my subaru outback is the same if you drive it in a swampy field. to be fair, the range rover was doing pretty damn well considering the tyres were completely inappropriate. give me a classis any day though :)
Put simply there is not another car out there that can combine all these qualities in one package.
What are the species that are there, get out and look, do you ever?
looks very stressful to drive. "will you go or not?!!!" what wrong with those switchable active diff locks?
I'd like to see the rovers at the TDS jeep jamboree this coming weekend. see how they do.
I am thinking the last one, but fine wet dirt and street low profile tires don't match well, lol.
The tires aren't for off-road
im not sure if the new range are just not as capable as the old one or the trails maybe a little to advance for those inexperience drivers
The thing is. These range rovers can do well off road. As long as you have tyres that are designed for it. Normal street tyres you get from a vogue are quite shit. Also if the people driving had any idea what they had to do it would be better.
The value of these vehicles from the showroom must have went from like 80k to 70k after this trip haha
THe main issue is the tires, the 4 wheel drive system is good and it looks as if those models are equipped with diffs, but I have a more agressive tread pattern on my S line Audi. Nice off road test drive.
what is the point of having a manual terrain response knob when there is a automatic mode..
Because if you can see there is going to be sand you’d rather the car is prepared for it before it gets itself stuck?
The lada niva is waiting up in the mountain, and the defender is laughing jjajajja
Heard about DiffLock trololo ?
proper tyres would have dones the trick
Any suv can run on those terrain.
The guide was giving them the correct advise, no "on & off" of the throttle. They were all doing it and that's not how to drive these things...stay in it, not too much, not jamming the gas, but steady.
this or a cayenne gts?
no differential lock?
Um....actually I have an lr3 and they come with a standard center locking differential and an optional rear locker
gen 1 disco is still my fav!
Such an unforgiving terrain and the Big Range Rover did all that without even breaking a sweat.
The inside is lovely
I finally seen Land Rovers get stuck, but not for long, and these are demos, so that will drop the price down a little.
very impressive with 21 inch wheels
nice land where is that ?
doesnt have difflock??????
The limitations of a Land Rover are seldom reached by their owners... True

you must change the tires
Wow, they did it with stock tires?? Can't imagine how will it perform with Hummer's Good Year Wrangler MT
LAUNCH CONTROL 東瀛戰神 There's no point in changing the tyres. Stock ones do fine in realworld.
Stock do fine. I know. Just imagine it wearing off road tires.

nice disco show-offs
I adore these RR's. Comparing SUV's stock for stock, these are Kings. Now as for reliability, cost of ownership, etc...I fear these.
No problems with our's so far
Amazing cars.
I'm a big fan of the cup holders
How can I book this?
ok,ok,you are right,i agree with you :) have a nice day :)
engineering at its best
