  • Tony Price spent the last part of his life as a sculptor turning discarded atomic bomb parts into art, with an emphasis on religious icons to protest and warn the world about what he saw as the eventual destruction of life on earth by the superpowers and their nuclear weapons. There was a time when scrap nuclear weapons parts were sold by the pound from the Los Alamos National Laboratories in New Mexico. Tony would show up there every week to buy the raw material for his art. This is a story I did about Tony and his sculptures for the Today Show back in the 80’s. His specialty was what he called contemporary atomic Kachinas.
