I think Lau deserves at least two flags. She did a quite strong kata!
It doesn't work that way : you vote based on who did the best not based of what the karateka deserves :)
+Moustapha Faye Lau was very good, but this was a clear decision. 5-0 doesn't necessarily mean that there was huge difference, but the difference was clear enough to warrant all 5 judges voting for Shimizu.

I like.and respect Shimizu but on this, Grace won. Judges bias is unfortunate. Lau knew she won.but took the "loss" with unmatched elegance. She has a great future in Kata. Keep it up Lau.
Lau just sticks every movement of her Body. What I truly appreciate about Lau is Shes developing her own brand, and very humble. Shimizu drops her Kicks, instead of chambering them from the expansion, to the contraction.
grace lau is clearly better..... better technic..better jump...better transitions....so quick ans sharp
every time i watch this match i really don t understand how it s possible grace lau didn t win...and a 0.5 lost was far unfair...but the story has changed this year ;). lau beat shimizu in salzburg 5.0!!
Good news I'm so happy for Lau. God is good and she deserves to win more.

Surprisingly to myself, I prefer Grace Lau for this match. Shimizu mowed over a bunch of strikes and steps.

In this final we can see two ladies: Lau, the beginner, who is really strong, fast and has a good technique as well.. And all I can ask for her is a little bit more strength and decision on her yelling. And, on the other side: Shimizu, not a beginner nor the best kata performancer but someone who is the best right now (not excellent as Usami, never) or so much better than many people on the kata competition because of her courage and feeling on the kata. Unfortunately I think she has a big ego and she tries to copy in some way our Kata legend Rika Usami... And that is what we are watching right now... Kiyou Shimizu, Someone who has popularity because Rika Usami left the tournaments and whose strength and compromise makes us feel like she is the best (but for me she's not), and someone who thinks deserve winning the competition. We can actually see many more mistakes on her performance... Even more than Lau's... Mistakes on her stances, mistakes on the three shuto-ukes at the beginning before the morote-tsuki, and I think it was nervousism because of the good Lau's performance.I believe Lau is the next karate world champion. Shimizu is good, but Lau was better this time and could be even better.
angel ballinas. I agree with you, especially in the feeling good of Usami. At here, Lau is still behind Shimizu. Why ? Shimizu can perform both internal & external, while Lau can do only concentrate on the shape.
