If you're wondering, "Shadows Of The Empire" was a novel/comic book/video game that was heavily promoted by Lucasfilm in 1996. The action figures were based on that, not the films.
I have an old recording of myself at 6 years old singing the "Take care of me Twins" jingle. I sounded like I had a cold when I was a kid lol like Chuckie from the Rugrats.
Holy crap I remember the wonder world things, I got one for my birthday I think. It too forever to do anything with it though because at the time we couldn't find distilled water whic it needed. Once we got it, it never worked as good as it shows in the commercial.
The announcer for that wonder world commercial sounds strikingly similar to the voice announcer for CBS Sports in the late 90s and early 00's. If you watched any of their sportscasts back then, namely NFL games, he would say "the NFL on CBS is sponsored by (such and such company). Also he would say "CBS sports welcomes you to the following presentation of the national football league"
Oh my god, I had that Mystery Mansion board game. I loved playing it, until I found a cockroach crawling around inside it one day. Never opened it again :\
I think that's Butch Hartman (creator of The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, and TUFF Puppy) in the Pop Tarts commercial. He looks and sounds just like him...
She would have only been six or seven at the time (And that's assuming this commercial is even from '96). The girl in this looks older than that...nine or ten at least.
I had the earlier, non-electronic version of Mystery Mansion. I remember playing it several times and enjoying it. That auto pawn ad looks like it cost less money than that car--not when it was new, not in 1996, but it looks like it cost less than that car is worth today. I hope Monterey has a good public transportation system. I'm farily certain that a commercial showing the Macarena would ensure that I never set foot in that store.
I wanted Mystery Mansion so bad... I think I even finally talked my mom into buying it for me... but then I don't remember playing it more than once. Wasn't as fun as it looked in the commercial.
7:04 is one of the most brutally honest baby doll commercials ever. Also, I didn't think I would find an ad as bad as (or even worse than) Chicago's Eagleman, but 8:07 comes pretty close.
Was it really smart of the Fairy Pawnmother to just poof the guy's car away? Granted it was nice of her to give him cash for it but... now he's gotta hitchhike or take a cab home.
Hmmm, I think I had that Barbie, and I remember a lot of these commercials. Haha I think I had the take care of me twins too, or maybe they were my sisters, either way I think we had them.
feel so freaking bad for the Take Care of me Twins girl...
i never thought i would be looking up commercials up on youtube
James And The Giant Peach wasn't CGI, it was stop motion. But I agree with you about most CGI these days.
If you're wondering, "Shadows Of The Empire" was a novel/comic book/video game that was heavily promoted by Lucasfilm in 1996. The action figures were based on that, not the films.
this is awesome, i'm from the monterey bay area so it's great seeing stuff from our local station
It just makes me want to go back...
OMG THAT WAS THE NEDS DECLASSIFIED JANITOR IN THE POP TARTS COMMERCIAL
did anyone notice that the voice of the guy narrating the commercial for Mystery Mansion is the guy who does the voice of Jafar in Aladdin?
James and the Giant Peach! My teacher read that book to us after lunch for 'story time' and then we watched the movie, loved it!
OMFG I'm such an idiot. When the video started I aw trying to find out how to skip the ad XD
Wow! The Mystery Mansion, Pop Tarts, and Honey Nut Cheerios
commercials were featured in the intro to tonight's Nostalgia
Critic review.
AHH! I knew I recognized him! He looked and sounded so familiar but I couldn't seem to place him. Thanks, it was really bugging me.
I have an old recording of myself at 6 years old singing the "Take care of me Twins" jingle. I sounded like I had a cold when I was a kid lol like Chuckie from the Rugrats.
James and the giant peach used to scare me
You are right lol. Years later and having the Joker in your head helps.
Holy crap I remember the wonder world things, I got one for my birthday I think. It too forever to do anything with it though because at the time we couldn't find distilled water whic it needed. Once we got it, it never worked as good as it shows in the commercial.
wow, I do remember a time when "like us on facebook", wasn't tagged on to everything
I was scared of the haunted highway commercial when i was 4, i remember it well, i didn't look at tv for weeks lol
I agree with your sentiment, but there aren't really any hand-drawn cartoons in this video. ???
The South Park stuff may go up when I'm fully exhausted of earlier stuff. That will probably be awhile.
I like how I have to watch a commercial before I watch commercials.
In the future people will be watching 'Pop-up ads compilation videos' to reminisce about the good old days lol.
Jonathan Freeman ( Jafar from Aladdin ) is doing the voice for Mystery Mansion.
I miss the 90's
OH MY GOD! The guy in the TV in the Pop Tart commercial is Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents (and Spotswood from Team America)!
Brings me back. Even though I wasn't even a year old yet.
James and the Giant Peach?! That was the second movie I saw in a theater, first in NYC. Ah, to be 6 again.
omg haha I loved watching James and the Giant Peach! I was born in 93' so it was huge by the end of the 90's!!
6:00 WOW!!! I forgot all about that toaster and how awesome he was!!!!! lol!
It took me nearly a year to find Dash Rendar's Outrider. I finally found it in a sketchy ass mall. What do you know, I still have it.
If you showed these commercials right alongside Tim & Eric sketches, I'm not sure people would be able to tell the difference.

Wow okay so i totally still know all the words to most of these theme songs.. especially All That :) Love it!
ahhhh nothing like watching tv on saturday mornings with a huge ass bowl of cereal.
This was before the time Peta was a world power because they would have blown a fuse with that Wonder World commercial.
This time machine can be a fickle mistress.
Same here. I was almost 10 months when these aired.
I miss that Lego set Time Cruisers. It was one of my personal favorites (aside from the original Lego Pirates and Aquazone).
Aw! James and The Giant Peach! I remember that frickin' commercial had me saying, "I want that for my very own!" XD
Oh my god, I had that Mystery Mansion board game. I loved playing it, until I found a cockroach crawling around inside it one day. Never opened it again :\
I got the teacher Barbie doll for my 12th birthday in 5th grade.
OMG. I had that teacher barbie thing. so many memories. its probably around my house somewhere still.
@Bluegoo It definitely worked and was pretty neat. The gel did dry out eventually, but it was fun while it lasted.
I think that's Butch Hartman (creator of The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, and TUFF Puppy) in the Pop Tarts commercial. He looks and sounds just like him...
You are cool! These commercials are funny as well as good memories.
i actually remember when pop tart boxes looked like that!
Man I always wanted to get a Wonder World when I was a kid, I thought they were so cool.
I remember wanting a Wonder World, and I vividly remember the Honey Nut Cheerios commercial.
I mean he does their VOICE. He even sounds a bit like Spotswood (and Timmy's dad in FOP).
james and the giant peach..O.o that movie gave me nightmares...
Dash goddamn Rendar...Man I miss Kenner Star Wars toys.
Larger than life? Don't remember that one...
That Pop Tart guy is the janitor from Ned Declassified School Survivor Guide on Nick
Yeah, that Outrider feature was totally added to the toy.
I'm pretty sure the stop-motion monster on Haunted Highway is voiced by James Earl Jones.
I remember Shadows of the Empire. I had the game for the Nintendo 64. The IG-88 was a bitch to kill.
My brother had that lego thing! I remember that googly eyed guy.
I was 16 when these aired, yet I do not remember any of them.
Hey it's that boy in the Bernie Mac show? yep.. Just looked it up. Such a cute little kid.
And Daran Norris as the announcer for Pop Tarts.
I remember James and the Giant Peach!
I'm nine and I wish things were still like 50's-90's in the 200's everything went downhill the early spongebob was the only thing left
7:13 That's the smile that says "Shoot me in the face"!
+DaJoshy Lmao
lol the bed dude haha
I had the slave 1 ship and I remember that damn wing kept breaking off LOL
She would have only been six or seven at the time (And that's assuming this commercial is even from '96). The girl in this looks older than that...nine or ten at least.
holy shit my friends knows that pop tart guy!
*pours out a 40 for hand-drawn cartoons*
I had the earlier, non-electronic version of Mystery Mansion. I remember playing it several times and enjoying it.

I'm farily certain that a commercial showing the Macarena would ensure that I never set foot in that store.
I always wanted wonder world
Was that Jafar in the first commerical?
You can eat at red lobster for $8 back in the day! Man the way prices go up.
In the Chris Cassara commerical the lady in the middle doing the macarena looks like my neighbor
I had the complete Lego Time Cruisers set back then 'cause I love time travel! Oh Nostalgia!
7:03 ha ha lol i laughted out loud the first time me and my teacher saw it during class
is the kid that's in the cherrio commerical on the bernie Mac show he looks and sound just like him
That kid from Honey Nut Cheerios, he's on the "Bernie Mac Show."
I had a Wonder World, except my mom decided she wanted to make it instead :(
That Honey Nut Cheerios commercial is adorable ^_^
Since the "Star Trek Voyager" promo tells me this was a secondary UPN station (as was KION), what other UPN shows aired on these two stations?
6:20 You know something's wrong with your child when he's crafting a still of a man being eaten alive by sharks with realistic blood.
"YOU WANT ME TO BLOW A COIL?!"
I had no idea Voyager was that old! O_O""
I wanted Mystery Mansion so bad... I think I even finally talked my mom into buying it for me... but then I don't remember playing it more than once. Wasn't as fun as it looked in the commercial.
ya, but the 'james and the giant peach' commercial made me think about how gross most cgi is lol
yayyy finally some I remember
7:04 is one of the most brutally honest baby doll commercials ever.
Also, I didn't think I would find an ad as bad as (or even worse than) Chicago's Eagleman, but 8:07 comes pretty close.
Oh wow. I had Teacher Barbie and Wonder World.
Was it really smart of the Fairy Pawnmother to just poof the guy's car away? Granted it was nice of her to give him cash for it but... now he's gotta hitchhike or take a cab home.
SJ but wasn’t the car broken down anyway?
It kind of looks like her I guess, but I think she would've been too young.
8:35 the dad from My Brother & Me
LARGER THAN LIFE! I forgot that movie existed.
I want Wonder world
I had one of those. After a while it would start to attract all kinds of gunk, dry up in places and it was just gross. Neat for a while though.
I always wanted to play with that Wonder World underwater stuff, did anyone have any? I want to know how well it worked.
I had the Teacher Barbie! :D
8:41 Heh heh... under ten dollars....
Hmmm, I think I had that Barbie, and I remember a lot of these commercials. Haha I think I had the take care of me twins too, or maybe they were my sisters, either way I think we had them.
DAMN my momory is good. I remember most of these commercials. I was six!
happy 19 aniversery commercial
MYSTERY MANSION!!!
Sure he pawned his car no problem, but how is he getting home now?
I always wanted haunted highway and wonderworld but my parents were all like "those are boys toys", pissed me off. Wonderworld wasn't!
