    It’s rough but they are good in summer helps keep out the heat, I used to live in Para Hills just south of Salisbury And Elizabeth and living there was enough for me. Give me Tassie any day John

      Yes guess it would help with the heat, the one thing I don't like about S.A is the long periods of hot weather. We like the cooler weather, would like to move to Tassie, not sure about the job opportunites. There is a house with a canon in the front yard, must be for protection. lol

    they added a traffic light at the intersection to the servo so much safer and easier. nice access to the freeway as well. once the tunnels are completed probably easier for all the freight to use cross rd and south rd to get to the north. no tolls as well to worry about.

      I lived there for a year or so. On my days off I'd get in my ute and travel far and wide. I reckon it's one of the most scenic places on earth. I just couldn't get over how great the Flinders Ranges are. Yep gotta go back and drive all over the state :-)

    Thanks for showing and describing what gear you use going down the Mt Lofty hill into Adelaide. Have yet to go down there in a truck and have heard some bad stories about it. And yes Salisbury is a rough area so the shutters are not to keep the sun out. Safe travels Brett

      It has pockets of nastiness in between some quite nice areas.
      Shutters are big in Adelaide for their insulation effect, it regularly tops 42 deg out in Salisbury during summer, shutters help a lot.

    Great video Rod, heard the old jake brake working well going down the hill. I thought you had parked up at that junction😂😂, only joking Rod, at least you didn’t force traffic to stop, I heard the good lady in the background, she will be great company for you. We weren’t allowed to take passengers as it was Natural Gas and Aerosol Propellent we hauled, managed to sneak my wife a few times at the weekend for a run.
    We’ve been too New Zealand and we were hoping to do Australia but my wife is ill now and we’re both in our mid 60s so I’ll just keep watching your beautiful country through your lens.
    Kind regards from Scotland Rod.

      Glad you like the videos.

    Kinda like Barry Rd that runs alongside the Ford Factory in Campbellfield. The roller shutters are worth more than some of the old houses they're on. Funny the things you notice. Cheers.

  • @Roadrunnerz45

    rod you mentioned they need a bypass of adelaide. slowly but surely they are upgrading the a2 south rd so at the lights at the end of the freeway maybe you can go left on a3 and then right on a2 that might be better to use as a truck route to the north? you did use a2 on another video when being guided by google.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  5 років тому

      I like the South Rd. better. Don't go to Adelaide too much. Boss does not get paid as much to go there. Not usually a return load, which is considerably less running back empty. Will give it another go. If I get there again.

    i'm fall in love with this lifestyle , i was graduated with bachlelor in Accounting major , currently working in the field but i don't like the office environment because its make me feel sick mentally everyday i have to coming and work in the same place , i want a job that i could work alone and not dealing with people , i'm an introvert and i love driving as well , i don't know that i could fit for driving a truck or not , but i think this kind of lifestyle is very suitable with my personality . i would love to hear your professional opinion .

    Hi Rod, I have a question about combinations:
    As far as I am aware, excluding the triple trailer combinations, you have just 2 basic types of double, the A-double and the B-double, with a "B-double" being a prime mover hauling a half body semi trailer, coupled to which as a second semi trailer.
    A-double, prime mover hauling a semi trailer, which has a dolly+semi trailer or a dog trailer following that.
    Are there any combinations that have a semi trailer with a pig trailer in tow?

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  6 років тому +1

      Hey Xantec. Their are so many different combinations now I don't even know. I have seen a video with a single trailer and a pig trailer being towed behind. I believe they where doing road repairs. Machines on front trailer road base in the tipper. I guess in some areas you could make any combination that suits your needs.

      The roller shutters on the houses in Salisbury are for security piece of mind plus they help insulate the house from the heat also the cold weather, the shutters give the house a nice look. Cheers
