This situation could go a couple different ways. I talked with Tom Yore who made the ruling. And after he reviewed the slomo he said Jay should have got it on the 3. But would a ref in a normal situation have the benefit of a slomo replay? Interesting situation and a good learning tool.
If Jay's 3 stays put and the ball gets jarred off the man then I'd say jar, but I think Jay prevented himself from catching it by moving out of the way so right call would be back to Wayne's 3. In the situation however, 5 is seemingly always the fair call.
i dont understand how in any way it could end up on wayne's 5 bar? If it was a jar it should be awarded to jay on 5 or 3 i believe the 5 personally after seeing slow mo..If tom ruled no jar which is what it looks likruee, why would it come off waynes 3 bar? but how do you rule waynes 5 bar if a infraction happened?
Tom was not actually watching the match. He was asked to come over and make a ruling based on what every one at the table was saying. So he felt that was the best decision at the time. When he saw the slow mo a day later he said it should have gone to Jays 3.

if the ruling was a jar how did it end up on waynes 5 bar and not jays?
The ball should have gone to jay's three, definitely a giant jar there when jay was trying to catch the ball

In real time the jar isn’t as apparent. In Slomo you can see it clearly. I’m not sure if a ref would catch that in real time.
