When you think about it he was the bravest of them all. The rest of the NuWho Doctors have all beaten some very tough 'enemies; Cybermen, Daleks, etc. etc. but 10 is the only one who not only defeated Rassilon (12 just got everyone on his side to kick Rassilon off his planet) to save all of time itself but threw them back into the war and Gallifrey out of Earths atmosphere. Another thing that RTD has said that people got wrong is the "I Don't Want to Go" line which was not a fear of death...it was a fear that all his friends would be forgotten by the next 'him' which they were (the 11th Doctor told Jo in the Sarah Jane Adventures that he never looks back but that when 10 was regenerating he visited EVERY companion and that was his reward, to see them one last time) And never forget that he was the one who remembered how many children were killed on Gallifrey but the 11th did not (in the rewrite of the book 10 actually became violent that 11 forgot and threw him across the room amongst other things.)
