    Thanks again - been far away from Celtic music overseas for 15 years. Got back to Scotland recently and have decided to string one guitar specifically for DADGAD . Did not take any action (lazy) until I heard this video - very useful and inspirational . Cheers

    Hi, Aodan. What's the craic?
    Following your youtube supervaluable videos, I've finally mustered up the courage to join trad. Irish sessions around Northern Italy, where I live. Some musicians have even complimented me on my back-up style. I was kind of flattered, but deep down I knew who I had to thank for that.

      That's really great to hear Luca. What a nice message to get. Thank you for letting me know. I'm really glad to hear you're out playing Irish sessions and that you're getting compliments for your style of backing! Congrats, you're the one who put in the work, so you deserve the compliments. I'm glad I could help in whatever way I have. Keep it up and enjoy the tunes! 🎸😁

    Hey Aodan - you could also do this pattern on the two highest D & A strings, too - right?

    • @aodancoynemusic
      @aodancoynemusic  3 роки тому +1

      Ya you're spot on David. The same pattern will work on the highest D & A stings. I find it a little trickier to control the overall tone when jumping around those high shapes. But it can be nice to throw in now and again 👍

    I notice that a lot of DADGAD players put stresses on interesting beats, not just the 1 and 3, but sometimes on the 2, or the and of 4. Any lessons on this method of picking when to do the stresses, or some common asymmetrical patters there might be? Would love to see one if it doesn't exist already!

      How are you doin Nylophone. Sorry about the delay in reply. Ya you're right, modern traditional Irish guitarists try to keep things interesting and mix the emphasis of beats within a tune to give it a different feel. I'm planning on making lessons about that. I did touch upon it in these videos on jig strumming- ua-cam.com/video/u6mTCSt20dY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/-0QJrgIugXg/v-deo.html And triplets - ua-cam.com/video/R0dCH9eESeo/v-deo.html I hope they come in handy. I'll try get those other videos done soon. Cheers 👍🎸

      @@aodancoynemusic Just seeing your reply now. Ever make those vids!?

      Hey @@nylophone5730, sorry not yet I'm afraid. I've had a lot of requests for tune accompaniment lessons, so that's the main thing I've been focusing in on for the past while. I will get around to doing a video on different beats at some point though. I have a few helpful strumming exercises for that which I teach my students. So I'll try get that lesson recorded at some point.
