It's a type of dance derived from various different south indian dances such as thappattam, bharatanatyam, etc.. It's colloquially called "Kuthu attam" which loosely translates to Dancing with a punch. Vijay is definitely one of the best dancers in the Indian Film Industry to be able to do such intricate moves with perfect precision and so very freely and flawlessly.
