@stevenalcorn3460 0 seconds ago The target is the blood level of 50 ng/ml D3 blood level. The range of the most 50 ng/ml-100 ng/ml for glutathione production by transcription glutamyl-cysteine ligase and glutathione reductase. At 50 ng/ml tumor necrosis factor alpha a key rheumatoid factor is repressed. Its the blood level not the dose. Cysteine is needed through NAC and cysteine to make glutathione as cysteine is limited.
I heard about a Doctor who was using high dose vitamin D3 to treat patients with Auto immune conditions such as Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Multiple Sclerosis, of which I had all three. So I went out and got some 50,000 IU pills and started taking it until my Arthritis symptoms went away and it worked. About 8 months after I started, one day I started to throw up and have diarrhea. My doctor told my wife after two days of this to take me to the E.R. So they took a look at my blood work and admitted me into ICU for renal failure. My kidneys had become flooded with calcium. So after a week of kidney flushing they let me go home and I have since been able to get more information about that treatment. What I was lacking was a second vitamin which is a must have if you are going to take anything higher than 10,000 IU of D3, that is Vitamin K2 in a MK 7 type. I take 100 IU's of vitamin K2 MK7 for every 10,000 IU's of D3. The D3 helps you metabolize the Calcium in your food, but it can also take calcium from your bones and put that into your blood stream where the Kidneys return it into the blood in a recycling system. That is where I ran into a problem. The Vitamin K2 MK7 takes the calcium out of the blood and forces it into the bones. So I monitor this through blood work called the PTH Parathyroid Hormone level, I have to try to keep it at its lowest normal level which is a 16. So now I take 1500 per day of D3 and 50,000 per week on one day a week, along with 3 K2 MK 7 simply because the extra K2 MK7 is good for me in other ways. BTW My Rheumatoid arthritis is gone or in remission, My Last A1c indicates my diabetes is cured It was a 4.9, My M.S. seems to be getting better but at a much slower rate, but still hopeful ! Thanks if you read this far, hope this info helps someone !
Well done you for persevering. A lot of people would have been scared off with what you went through. New Zealand government sets our vitamin D consumption at 1,000 IU per day - what a joke.
Absolutely. I've also worked up to 30 000 IU's of Vit D3 per day and after about three months woke up one day and my lower back was just killing me. It took a week or so before I realize what was causing it. I went off the Vit D3 supplementation and it took about one month before my back was back to normal again. I then started supplementing with Vit K 2 and about 10K IU's per day. After three months the same problem. I now only take a capsule that has both Vit D3 and K 2 in it. So far so good.
My vitamin D level was 24. I was diagnosed with hashimotos. I would get the flu twice per year. I had terrible allergies. I was then informed that I have a vitamin D receptor genetic variation. And I live in the northern hemisphere. And I work mostly inside. My regular doctor prescribed me 50,000 iu synthetic vitamin d pills, but when I took them, they shredded my stomach and made me really sick. So, I found a functional medicine doctor who did extensive blood work on me and came up with a personalized treatment plan. Part of that plan included taking Thorne 20,000 iu vitamin D along with K2 per day. Over 6 months my vitamin D level came up to 82. My hashimotos went into remission and my antibodies dropped to under 10. All my allergies went away. I never felt better in my life. At that level, I didn’t even get so much as a sniffle in three years. Now I take 10,000 iu of vitamin d per day in the summer months, and I increase it to 20,000 iu in the winter months. It has worked for me for years now and my health has greatly improved. I don’t tell many people how much vitamin d that I take because when I have, I always receive negative comments. But, it works for me, and my doctor is monitoring me, so that’s all that matters. Thanks for this video!
When I was diagnosed with MS my neurologist never even suggested testing my vitamin D level. Years later I found out it was 7! After working with a functional medicine doctor it is up to 79 and MS symptoms are greatly improved.
My dad had polio back in the 1930s. He went to one of the Sunshine Camps for children. The children soaked up sun while running around in their swimsuits. Vitamin D and grounding cured the children. My dad shed his leg braces.
I have studied vitamin D3 extensively, a couple of things need to be said. First of all, vitamin D3 is not even a vitamin, it's a cholesterol based hormone, therefore a steroid hormone. It is safe to take, and the only possible problems you can get sometimes is that it can raise your blood calcium level; this can usually be rectified by taking vitamin K2 at the same time. Vitamin D3 can also reduce magnesium in some people, so it might be smart to supplement with magnesium also if you take lots of vitamin D3. The official recommended levels are way too low, and hundreds of millions of people are having their health ruined by these low levels. A guy named Jeff T Bowles talks about high dose vitamin D3 supplementation, and a doctor named Cicero Coimbra also treats autoimmune conditions with high doses of vitamin D3.
I’m not sure what my levels are, but I started taking 3,000iu/day vitamin D3, and within one week everything changed. I was sleeping better, waking up alert and full of energy throughout the day. Thinking is becoming clearer. Depression & anxiety has lifted considerably. This is life changing stuff and I wish I’d done it sooner. I would take more but I’m not sure what my level is and I figure 3 tablets a day isn’t going to damage me.
I have also been taking D3 for a week now, and today I could get out of the bed energised and no head fog... maybe its just today but I will check that for the next days... I take 40 000 IU D3 and 200mikro gram K2 and like 300mg magnesium daily... I will do that for for one more week, so in sum 14 days, then reduce to 20 000 IU and maybe in 3 months I will check my levels again
3000 IU a day is kind of a minimum dose to get any effect. I need 10'000 -- 15'000 IU daily to get to the doctors optimal blood level of 100 ng/ml. I started with 5000 IU and got to 45 ng/ml. But everything above 50 ng/ml is healthy, although maybe nor quite optimal. Magnesium and K2 too, of course.
3 tablets a day of 3000 IU ? Did any body recommend that schedule to you? So far, I've heard of only once a day for lower doses or once a week for 60,000 IU

I ended up in the in the back of an ambulance 5yrs ago on the way to the ER with SVT and a heart rate of 220bpm, believing at the time that I was about to die from a heart attack at only 49 yrs old. When they ran my bloods in the ER they found that my levels of vitamin D, potassium and magnesium were virtually undetectable (I was leading a pretty unhealthy lifestyle at the time, and this was a huge wakeup call). So they gave me a big oral dose of potassium & magnesium and told me to get more sun exposure & maybe lose some weight if I felt like it, and then prescribed me blood pressure meds; I was discharged about 8 hours later once my troponin levels had dropped off & they had run some ultrasounds & CAT scans. Long story short is that the blood pressure meds I was prescribed (calcium channel blockers) had severe side effects and I was dissatisfied at the lack of any lifestyle advice or "preventative medicine" from any of the Docs I saw, so I began my own journey of discovery online myself (I also ditched the blood pressure meds as they were literally killing me). I currently supplement daily with 12000UI of D3 (combined with 480mg K2 Mk7 to aid calcium absorption into my bones and out of my blood & tissues), potassium and magnesium and have never been healthier nor felt physically and mentally better. During the pandemic I was never sick with Covid (I tested positive only once on a RAT test without experiencing any symptoms whatsoever) despite everyone around me falling ill multiple times with Covid and spending days at home confined to bed (or even worse, admitted to hospital, and all these people had been vaccinated too). Some huge benefits I've received from my supplementation regime (apart from my noticeably-boosted immune system) is that my brain fog (which I had suffered from for years) is gone, my blood pressure is healthy and over 30 points lower, my sleep apnoea has completely disappeared, the signs of arthritis in my knees and hips have disappeared, and I am now always extremely calm, unstressed and my mood is consistently good (people who know me and that have noticed the difference are always asking what antidepressant drugs or sedatives I am on, as I was previously always on edge, quick-tempered and known for mood swings and irritability). I will also add though that I am currently following a low-carb, high fat/protein/fibre diet as well since I was also exhibiting signs of insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome and rapidly approaching Type 2 diabetes; all that has now reversed too now that I have my essential vitamins, mineral, and gut health in order.
Hey Wellness Warriors, I shared resources in the description to the Vitamin D3K2 and Vit D3 at home test I use. Many people are asking how much Vit. D3 I recommend.... here is my answer..... The key is testing! What matters most is the level inside your body. Understanding your numbers is the key to knowing how much to take. For Example: If I were to receive a test result of 15, iI would take 10,000 IUs and test again in 5-6 months. If my test result was very close to 100 at that point, I would drop my dose to 5,000 IU's maintenance dose. I understand many people do not want to go to the doctors for a Vit. D test. This at home test I shared in the video description is fantastic and is an excellent option. You cannot manage what you cannot measure. Measure first.... then manage. Hope this helps! Stay Healthy! Dr. Z
You should do a supplement video to tell all these people about taking Vitamin K2 MK7 along with their Vitamin D3 before they end up in renal failure or cardiac failure !
Taking 5000iu a day for years netted me a value of 57, 10,000iu for the last 3 years has netted me on two different tests 89 and 82 respectively. I take it with k2 in a blend.
I got my blood work result just today after having 3 months daily dosage 12.000 iu D3 vitamin intake (along with K2) and my D3 level is 127. I am happy with it

Mine was tested by a rheumatologist in 2009 at a level 9! I was put on 50,000 IU 3x/week and after 3 months I was at ^120.. I didn't even receive an actual level - just told it was too high and taken off of it entirely... For many years & I was on folic acid 1mg a day at the same time and they said I had SO MUCH in my system I'd have stores of it for several years.. They had no idea what they were doing and put me on so many different anti-inflammatory meds it killed my stomach.. Since 2014- I'm nauseous 24/7, even with meds 3x a day for it! I decide on my vitamins and supplements and I take a LOT of them. I am healthier now than I was under a doctor's guidance. I don't trust people easily, especially those with a phd.. Bought & Sold by pharmaceutical companies & billionaires.. 💊
OMG- In two separate appointments BOTH My Doctor and Endo drilled me after my labs came back that my Vitamin D levels increased a lot and insisted on knowing why. I noticed BOTH Docs insisted on knowing my exact dose and both asked if I was going in the Sun. The take away here is when my Vit D was very low they never mentioned it to me because they know that is how to cure most autoimmune probs. I now look at them both as evil villains that should not be in practice. Luckily, I was on video chat and could notice their micro expressions that clearly communicated they were not happy with my new healthier levels. These Doctors want sick patients they do not want to see you take charge and heal yourself! Colorado has the worst medical treatment they are all frauds!
The target is the blood level of 50 ng/ml D3 blood level. The range of the most 50 ng/ml-100 ng/ml for glutathione production. Its the blood level not the dose,
100,000iu with K2 daily (yes, one hundred thousand iu) hasn't killed me yet, I've been at that level for around 2 years now. I have my reasons, everyone is different!
Awesome! So proud of you for going out of your comfort zone, so to speak!! Many are hesitant to take over 5000 mg D3 daily! I believe the key is also taking Vit K2. I am sure it is also helping you with your Energy levels!! What is mind boggling is that people are willing to put toxic vaccines in their bodies, but, hesitant, to increase a non toxic effective supplement like D3, which can helps save lives!!!
My serum level was 300 nmol/lt. last week. That’s taking, for 3 months, 90,000IU, now taking a maintenance supplement of 30,000 IU. ( with K2 ) Not sure how nmol/lt relates to ng/ml. But in nmol/ lt the recommended is 100-150 for an average male
@@mikelincoln8395 yep my level was red flagged by Thriva here in the UK as it was over 300nmol/l(120ng/dl) I expected it as I had been taking 32000 iu's per day. Was an experiment to see if my Psoriasis cleared as indicated by some studies. Jeff Bowles suggests levels of 150ng/dl are required to heal autoimmune conditions.
When my dad was diagnosed with glioblastoma in the year 2000 I began looking for any kind of cure. Glioblastoma was said to be incurable. In my research I found a Dr. that was using very high doses of vitamin D and was said to have had several patients who had gone into remission . I have since been taking lots of vitamin D3 and it has helped my health so much. Very interesting article.
you also need to take vitamin K2 and magnesium daily if you are supplementing D3... its also said that if you take D3 with fats like eggs or avocado the absorption gets better, increases up to 50%
Nice to see a doctor who knows that it's important to meassure the blood level and titrate supplements to get anoptimal level there. 100 ng/ ml is a good level to have, although I give the range 50 -- 100 ng/ml. But the upper end of that range should be pretty good. Two other things cooperates with vitamin D3. Magnesium and vitamin K2. You should have mentioned that! I suggests a dose of 5000 -- 10000 IU daily, and to meassure the blood level after 3 -- 4 months, and titrate the dose. 1000 IU typically raises the blood level 5 -- 7 ng/ml.
Some people get heart palpitations if they take a lot of D3, they need to increase their Magnesium intake as its a Magnesium deficiency. The vast major of people are deficient in D3, Magnesium & Potassium. If you have darker skin you need more as our skin is a natural sun block. Its fat soluble so is stored in our fat, so the fatter you are the more you need also if you are getting up in age your body has a harder time assimilating nutrients.
Whenever I take D3 5000IU(first dose itself)with elemental magnesium of 400mg per day, I get intense, anxiety, jittery feeling, insomnia, bone pains etc. My Calcium and PTH levels are normal and at the lower end. I'm unable to tolerate anything above 1000IU. What am I missing here?
This applies to so many vitamins and minerals. The RDAs are minimum amounts needed to prevent a single aspect of what would happen if you had zero amount in your diet. Each of the vitamins and minerals impacts multiple processes of the body. Magnesium for example is responsible for over 300. I couldn’t find a number for D but I know it is over a dozen.
I’ve been taking 10,000 iu for years and only had a level of 30 ng/mL. Started taking 50,000iu every 2-3 days and my level is now 88 ng/mL. Feeling great, more energy and sleeping better. My total testosterone increased by about 10% and my free T increased by about 50%. Excellent results. 29 yo male
Good presentation. The only things I would have added would be: A clarification on units for both the dosage and the blood levels, as there are two commonly used for each. High levels of D supplementation should be taken with K2 to make sure Calcium "freed" by the D goes into bones, not arteries. For the skin to make D, the Sun needs to be above 45 degrees in the sky, or the atmosphere will absorb the UVB radiation needed to make D. That also applies to being behind glass or wearing Sunscreen, as will both are barriers to UVB. So for example, sitting by a closed office window/driving a car with windows up will not make any D regardless of how Sunny it is.
please stop the 45 degrees doctrine, it is just arbitrary. For everybody: Dont miss your sun in fall, winter and spring. It all helps. The amount of vit D produced by the skin to the degrees of the sun follows an S curve and its not an on and off switch. Yes it is lower in spring and fall and much lower in winter but it all adds up. Go outside!!!!!

Historically I've been low in vitamin D, but during the last two or three years I've used it more and more. Now I have strengths from 2000 up to 50 000 IU at home for contingencies and seasonal changes. Incidentally I had blood work done last week, and my D levels were ">375", not the more "normal" 100. I had inflammation in a tooth and took one 50 k each day for 3 days plus several grams of vitamin C and some extra zink, and the tooth healed quickly. A couple of weeks later one of the individuals in the household got a cold with severe coughing, so again I took the 50 k pills again for 2-3 days. No cold. But my measurement is "toxic". All I noticed was that I got healed. Some problems with aches and pains in muscles with chronic inflammation has tapered down as well. So, what is worse; chronic inflammation or the risk of vitamin D toxicity? The inflammation stays and destroys. The high D levels gets down to normal after a while. However, anyone wanting to test this should read the literature before experimenting. There are effects one must look out for, to alleviate with other vitamins or minerals. Balance is the goal.
@@fotoschopro1230 Thanks for the heads up. I do take K2 already, but kidney stones from high vit D is a new lead. I do stay away from foods high in oxalates since a long time though.
@@bonnarlunda taking high doses of d3 depletes your magnesium so these constant high doses aren't safe. The calcium, magnesium, phosphorous balance can do serious harm and cause organ failure. No one should be taking more than 5k a day unless instructed otherwise. Usually a few high doses of d2 are what is prescribed by the doctors to get your levels up. It's not ment to be a prolonged treatment. D2 is also different than d3. You can do just as much damage being over as you can being under if you aren't careful.

40 times your weight is a good way to find out how much Vit D3 you should take. I've been taking 10,000 Vit D3, 280 K2 for a few years. I've added 1000mg's of Magnesium. If you have issues with constipation, taking 1000mg's of magnesium will likely solve that problem for you. Had issues with constipation all my life, not anymore though.
Dr. Z. Wonderful info! In future videos on vitamin D make sure you mention that people should be taking K2 with their D3. For those who don’t know, D3 helps in assimilation of calcium, but K2 takes it out of the soft tissues and carries it to the bones and teeth where it belongs. I had to have a breast biopsy several years ago that turned out to be a calcium buildup. I didn’t know about K2 at the time. While calcium in the breast ducts is not a problem, it did result in an uncomfortable procedure with dozens of xrays to pinpoint the area. It’s truly dangerous when the calcium build up is in the arteries.
Did you have calcification in your breasts ? Did you have pain prior to finding out that that is what it was ? (And thankfully not cancer ). I have been having pain in my breasts, also near the armpits and scared that it’s cancer or possibly caused by hormone changes due to perimenopause.
Blood tests done on wild monkeys showed an average level of around 120 nmol/L. The same average was found in people from an African tribe, who live their ancestral lifestyle, and in lifeguards, who work outside every day. This also seems to be the optimal level for the regulation of blood calcium. Despite being fair skinned, living in the tropics, and taking 5000 IUs of D3 per day, a recent blood test showed my blood level was 95 nmol/L so I intend to up my dose when my current capsules are done and I'll be looking for capsules of 6000 -10,000 IUs per day. I also take K2, another vitamin most people don't get enough of. One of D3's many uses is in the regulation of blood calcium levels. One of the main uses of K2 is to ensure that calcium is deposited where it's needed (teeth and bones, not blood vessels).
@@tomg5405 K2: 125 mcg - 1 per day That's what's generally recommended though I expect the exact level isn't critical. Most people need more than they get, the exception being people who eat fermented foods regularly - that's the main dietry source.
do you mean ng/ml or really nmol/L? I mean 120nmol in ng is like 50 and that seems pretty low in my opinion... I was tested 31ng/ml and the most time I spent inside buildings and had barely sun and I was not supplementing... but these guys in africa outside all time and only 50ng/ml??? maybe you mean 120ng/ml???

Great video thanks, subbed. My vitamin D levels are registering at 8 !! 😑 All of the horrible symptoms I suffered with for 20 years and the most a doctor has ever said to me was "that's low, you might want to take some supposed" I had no idea what an optimal number should be or how to get to it.
This is horrible! Same with my high blood pressure. For years I would go to appointments and was always asked if I had a history of hypertension. I had no idea they were asking because my bp was high - I just thought that question was standard protocol. One day at an appointment I asked what does this question mean? I took once 50.000 iu almost everyday for 2 months, my blood D levels went to 129, at that time I was supplementint iodine aswell, an autoimmune graves disease started, I cant say its related, not sure if high D levels can trigger autoimmune but Ithink that because my thyroid was hyperactive it was taking all the iodine and converting into testosterone and I was having excess of it, sometimes it felt like I was gonna die. Im all better now, thanks to God. food sensitivities elimination and slowly healing the gut with femented foods and bone broths.
How much iodine were you taking per day? It would be excessive iodine rather than the vit D causing the Grave's like symptoms. My partner was diagnosed with Graves and told not to take iodine, but it ended up being a misdiagnosis, the blood work results came back skewed due to excessive exercising and too little sleep.
Recent bloodwork showed my level at 57.5 which made me a little bit scared to keep continuing taking it, as 60 and above is deemed excess. I guess I will keep taking it to try getting my level to 100 and see what happens, who knows, maybe it will finally clear the psoriasis.
I test my D once or twice a year. Right now I'm at 78, perfect place to be. I take 7000 ius of Vitamin D3-k27 everyday except Sunday I take a break from all supplements. I take 7 drops under my tongue
I was at 79 and my PCP told me to drop it, now I'm at 57 and she still says its to high but now I'm thinking I'm gonna go back up. My mood has been a wreck since dropping.
Got my vit d levels checked earlier this year 291nmol. I take 10,000 IU per day sometimes more along with K2. My blood calcium levels were at the lower end of ideal too 😊
Recently my D3 level was 57.50. I've been doubling my dose from 5,000 units a day to 10,000 units a day, so hopefully that'll bring it up to at least 100. Also, magnesium citrate has helped alleviate the severe sciatic pain I had recently.
From what I’ve read, actual studies, doubling dose doesn’t double blood levels. I’ve been taking 10k a day for years and was in the 50-55ng range. Just a seasonal change with 20-30min of sun 2-3x a week and levels are now 80-90ng. So sun in the summer months really affects levels. But, in winter I’ll go up to 20k a day. I test every 6 months. The last thing you want to feel is anxious from thinking you’re taking too much of something but the recommended 2k iu a day is an utter joke. It’s to stay not deficient.. I suspect that the measurement being in the thousands effects the willingness of fda to increase rec dose. Seriously, human psychology I think has prevented proper dose recommendations. This should have been figured out 50 years ago. Or maybe 70 years ago. Anyway, I’d guess that in a decade mainstream low end will be 5-6k a day with the vast majority of people taking nearly double that. And I also guess that the optimal level will go from 50-100 to 100-150. And more long term studies are needed to really figure it out. I always recommend dosing based on age and weight assuming you absorb nutrients accordingly. Average weight and age 10k a day. Older and or heavier 15-20k. And if you’ve been tested and are below 20ng I’d say 50k iu a day for a month and get retested. 10k is the low end dose now. It’s good enough for sure for 90% of people. And if you do this you’re doing it right enough. I’m gonna go to 20k a day starting in sept or October.. 40yr old and 200lbs.. I wanna see 120-130ng…

Recently my mother has started taking high doses of vitamin D3. Will it cause any harm to her ? Can it lead to migration of more calcium to her breasts? Should she stop taking vitamin D3...??
One thing to look out for when raising Vitamin D is make sure you aren't driving up your Calcium to "Hypercalcemia" levels...I'm speaking from personal experience. At around 60ng (D levels) my calcium crept up on the high-side...perhaps adequate K2 MK7* supplementation alongside is a wise decision. (*Edit)
K2 MK7 is the better form according to other internet doctors on YT. K2 MK4 can’t hurt, but I believe the reason is that MK4 isn’t as effective or bio-available
@Infiniti25 I have a combination but yea MK7 was actually what I meant👌🏽 I think my overarching point is people need to be wary even with natural Supps...there's always a balance to be had and learning *too much* of "X" can drive up "Y" and/or deplete "Z". High Calcium can deplete Mag & vice versa, Arginine & Lysine, Beta Alanine & Taurine, Glycine & Methionine etc. Of course our typical diet usually favors certain minerals & aminos and correcting that is valuable, it's important not to Over-correct and skew the balance too much in the other direction.
@@tomg5405 Tom the real thing to take is K2-MK7 with D3, if you don't take K2-MK7 you risk Calcium toxicity which can lead to a heart attack. K2-MK7 takes Calcium and put it into the bones and teeth making them very strong. The both of these in proper amounts can help reverse heart disease as I am successfully doing.
Same. Now I’m going to start incorporating k2. Before finding out about my vitamin d deficiency I felt horrible everyday for a few years. My body was aching, hair was shedding and my gums were always bleeding. I thank the Lord the dr knew right away what was going on. Best regards

Im jumping in on commenting. Vit D must be taken with Vit K. If you are having recurring infections, MS: low Vit D is the issue. And yes as has been said: good idea to take magnesium too. Yes, taking more vit D2 helps things, but Medcram on their light therapy posts have pointed out that people who get their vitamin D from sun exposure are healthier than just taking vit D. Their hypothesis is that along with the benefits of vitamin D, vitamin D levels from sun exposure is also a marker for how much red and Infrared light wave exposure they have, which also has very good healing properties, all on their own. This natural Light Therapy really helped people with the CV stuff, whereas taking just Vit D, not so much.
Some of us have extensive sun damage due to the sunny climate we grew up in and having British Isle skin. After having several skin cancer spots removed, I was told to avoid the sun. Vitimn D3 and Vit K are necessary supplements for fair skinned people who need to avoid sun exposure. I was taking 3000 IU on D3 daily with the K2 and my doctor squad my D3 levels were too low. She told me to double the D3 to 6000 IU. I did not know that the optimum level was 100 or higher. Doubling the D3 brought my levels up to 30. Thanks for the updated information. I will take an additional 4000 IU id D3 to get the blood level higher. I have severe food allergies, asthma, and osteoarthritis. How much K2 should be added to my regimen? I currently take 500 mcg per day. Should I always take it together with D3? I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
@@hapennysparrow Always take with D3. A great book is "K2 and the Calcium Paradox" I just saw an interview on utube with Dr. Kate being interviewed by Dr. Mercola and she updated the dosing. 100mcg of K2-MK7 per 1000i.u. of D3 1500mcg of Vitamin A retinol per 5000i.u. of D3. Vitamin A is used to escort calcium to the toilet. The three work together. She also says you can always take more K2-MK7 in the ratio above but never less as the K2-MK7 can be overrun by Dr's calcium production. Myself I'm on 2400mcg of K2-MK7 and 5000i.u. of D3. I believe I have seen the same claims he's making about Vit D in the context of NAC/Glutathione. And there are probably a few others as well. Any decrease in one these chemicals in the body always seems to be associated with degenerative diseases, cancers, etc. Is there some sort of bigger picture we're overlooking possibly?
Something that I wish he had talked about is there are two different units of measurement when checking Vitamin D. It's important to differentiate which one you're referring to when you say 100 is a healthy level.
@@SleeplessinOC this is from NIH. The important part is the last sentence. Basically what it's saying is if you get the unit of measurement wrong, you could have 2.5X higher levels of Vitamin D in your blood. As an example, if you have 100 ng/mL, you'd have 250 nmol/L. And of course the opposite holds true. If you're at 100 nmol/L, that only equates to 40 ng/mL. "Serum concentrations of 25(OH)D are reported in both nanomoles per liter (nmol/L) and nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL). One nmol/L is equal to 0.4 ng/mL, and 1 ng/mL is equal to 2.5 nmol/L."
@@Eyes0penNoFear it’s all so confusing . I wish I knew how much D3 I should be taking without worrying about if I’m taking too little or too much . I have an appt with a PCP soon to see about my various symptoms , one of which is bone pain and hoping it’s not leukemia or lymphoma . I’m hoping it’s mostly due to a vitamin D deficiency .
@@SleeplessinOC the good news is that it's really hard to overdose on Vitamin D. Most medical doctors will tell you anything over 700 IUs per day is dangerous. If you're like most Americans, you could easily take 10-20X more than that for years without any problems. Obviously I'm not a doctor, so take what this random UA-cam commenter says with a grain of salt. I've been taking around 5,000 IUs a day for a year, and my numbers barely went up at all. I recently bumped it up to 20,000 and I'll be starting Vitamin K2 because my calcium levels are a bit high.
I'm pretty sure he's numbers are in ng/ml. Which Americans utilize. In Europe we utilize nmol/l, so our numbers are 2.5 times higher. Experts like Robert Hanely used to say that 40 - 60 ng/ml is a good range. 100 is high, and doctors talks about symptons around 159 ng/ml. Those symptoms, though might have someting to do with low magnesium, since that is consumed by vitamin D handling enzymes. I consider magnesium, vitamin D3, and vitamin K2 a triad that belongs together. The toxicity risk with vitaamin D3 is negligable below 30'000 IU (1'200 mcg) if you don't take calcium supplements. The risk is too high calcium levels, but that might be mitigated by K2. No one has confirmed that hypothesis, thiugh, as far as I know.
*For all the older people in the comments:* While I was researching Vitamin D and calcium metabolism I came across some interesting studies and there is a takeaway for certain people with preexisting health conditions. First of all be aware that Vitamin D3 supplements should be taken with Vitamin K2 and be aware of the differences in metabolism between naturally synthesized and orally supplemented Vitamin D3. Oral Vitamin D3 supplements enter your bodies metabolism much faster and at higher levels than naturally synthesized Vitamin D3, which is released much more gradually. If high doses are supplemented over a long time period, they can lead to hypercalcemia. This sort of hypercalcemia is related to the calcification of various soft tissues, most prominently, blood vessels, kidneys, scars, brain and joints, but it can happen almost anywhere. Vitamin K2 acts against the calcification of soft tissues, which is why it is so important. If you have health issues that are caused or related to calcification of soft issues, be careful with Vitamin D3 dosage and talk to your doctor. These could include but are not limited to renal disease, peyronies disease, tendinitis, joint problems and CPPD.
If you talk to your doctor the chances are she/he will tell you to stop taking D, they mostly are stuck in it fixing bones [rickets], The K2 will ensure that no calcium is deposited elsewhere in soft tissue.
Thank you for this Dr. Nick. I remember my wifes old school doctor prescribed 1600IE when she had deficiency. That has served as my min daily dose ever since
I like to orientate myself on the UVB rays of the sun. Young people can produce up to 25,000 iu via the sun. For example 2-3 weeks 25,000 iu daily and then a lower dose, depending on the body weight and target level. And think about the cofactors magnesium Vitamin K2.
Thanks, Dr. Zyrowski: my V-D, 25 Hydroxy level from a March 2023 test was 113.0 ng/mL. My doctor said that was too high and to cut out the V-D supplements. What do you think?

Thanks Doc! Is there K2 in store bought eggs? I understand egg yokes have A D E K. Would it be possible that an egg yoke would have a proper ratio of D to K2 ? Thanks!!
If you don't want to supplement, your options are sun for vitamin D3 and fermented food for K2. You get a little of those from animal food. Enough not to show any symptom. Wild fish for vitamin D. Cod kiver oil gets you some, but not really enough. I consider that an vitamin A supplement.
I asked my General Practioner to test my Vit D level (not necessarily available on the NHS) My level was just over the lowest level, the GP was going to prescribe 1000 IUs per day. I told her I was already taking 5000 IUs per day and had been for over a year. She said I should try different supplements as what I was taking was not working! After that I upped my Vit D to 8000 IUs per day (with a commenserate dose of Vit K) I had blood tests in April this year sanctioned by my Dermatologist but haven't received any results. In the meantime my GP wanted blood tests to monitor my medication. I asked for a Vit D test but my GP came back and said (text message) that the NHS would not carry this out as I had had a test within the last 3 months. She had checked the hospital website and told me that my level was now normal! Whatever they have decided that is. I cannot be in the sun for any length of time as I burn even with factor 50 on. Now the Dermatologist has told me not to be in the sun, she is carrying out tests to determine what the cause of my skin complaint is. I have previously had breast cancer and have several auto immune problems. Throughout my 20s (40 years ago +) I felt I had a hormone problem. My GP at the time tried me on several treatments but none of tgem worked. Now I'm wondering if I had insufficient Vit D all my life. 😮
Can Vitamin D deficiency cause a clogged ear and pressure in the head? I was a 12 and just now got to 40. I’m also depressed, panic attacks, anxiety, insomnia.
vitamin d ignites genes that use up magnesium...take magnesium, K2-7, k2-4, boron, and foods high in vitamin a. You might have a magnesium deficiency. HAVE A large salad every day. NO spinach though cause it is crazy high in oxlates which causes kidney stones.
Actually, 100 ug of K2/Mk7 is pretty low I wouldn't go under 200 ug. There's no known toxicity with vitamin K2. But if you are severly deficient in calcium, that might go to low if you take high doses 8f K2. Vitamin D increases the bodys uptake of calcium, but that takes a week. So, increase vitamin K2 slowly during one or two weeks, in that case. Usually, it's not a problem, only if your bones were leaking calcium levels because yiu were deficien, and that stops when you take K2. Calcium levels in the blood is tightly controled, and you don't want those to drop!
I was taking 5-10k IU's for quite sometime and I started to have a lot of random muscle spasm/twitching. Alot in my fingers but also in my back and all over. It was extremely concerning and I laid off and found that potentially the D3 + K2 supplement that I was taking could be depleting me of Magnesium?. I took a break from the Vit D3 and took some magnesium and the twitching has pretty much stopped all together. I started to take it due to autoimmune diseases but then while taking it and genuinely getting progress from the immunes I thought I was developing MS or ALS or somethign with all of the twitching. Now im scared to take more d3?
Better after stopping? Trying to take some magnesium citrate now as I read that high doses of d3 can deplete magnesium and seems like the likely issue?. It was scary

Hell Dr Zyrowski. I take a 10,000 IU vitamin D3 supplement daily. A few days ago my serum D3 level was 95.The question is whether continuing with the same dose would take into toxic ranges. Should I lower my dose to avoid toxicity?
Great question I tested at 108 6 months ago, and I was taking 20000 IU. My doctor told me it was high, so I decreased to 10000 IU I'm now at 80 I do work outside.
From research you are far away from problematic level with 10k (you need more around 50k+ to reach a level where it might to start stressing your kidneys). But when you reach a good level, you should be fine with cutting it to 5k (highter doeses are good to push it up, because that takes quite some time - just as the problem when you don't have enough Vitamin D take quite some time). It seems, when we would live a 'natural' human live = without society and all, but in the wild like animals, our body itself could produce up to 25k IU via the sunlight.

You nailed it...one of my trusted resources..Jeff bowels! Thnx for sharing!!

I will also add though that I am currently following a low-carb, high fat/protein/fibre diet as well since I was also exhibiting signs of insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome and rapidly approaching Type 2 diabetes; all that has now reversed too now that I have my essential vitamins, mineral, and gut health in order.
yeah i bet the food change what really took away the brain fog i suspect gluten or dairy or high frutcose corn
For Example:
If I were to receive a test result of 15, iI would take 10,000 IUs and test again in 5-6 months.

They had no idea what they were doing and put me on so many different anti-inflammatory meds it killed my stomach.. Since 2014- I'm nauseous 24/7, even with meds 3x a day for it!

you also need to take vitamin K2 and magnesium daily if you are supplementing D3...
its also said that if you take D3 with fats like eggs or avocado the absorption gets better, increases up to 50%
Nice to see a doctor who knows that it's important to meassure the blood level and titrate supplements to get anoptimal level there.
This applies to so many vitamins and minerals. The RDAs are minimum amounts needed to prevent a single aspect of what would happen if you had zero amount in your diet. Cure is better than prevention
Go outside!!!!!
...and that sun angle is why virtually all people who live in northern climates are D3 deficient. :)

In the long term you could get kidney stones from that.
Also make sure to supplement Vitamin K2.
@@fotoschopro1230 Thanks for the heads up. I do take K2 already, but kidney stones from high vit D is a new lead. I do stay away from foods high in oxalates since a long time though.

Dr.

That article was discussing the *tolerable upper limit* not the recommended daily optimal intake.
Nature is healing !!

At least 100? That's the upper limit according to a number of youtube doctors .. you want it somewhere between 50-100.
@@Leoninmiami, oh. I thought the doctor said at least 100.

Not to mention K2-MK7 is taken in mcg and K2-MK4 is taken in mg.
So, a high dose K2-MK4 of 45mg is 45,000mcg
@Infiniti25 I have a combination but yea MK7 was actually what I meant👌🏽
I think my overarching point is people need to be wary even with natural Supps...there's always a balance to be had and learning *too much* of "X" can drive up "Y" and/or deplete "Z".
Can you elaborate please?
@@tomg5405 Tom the real thing to take is K2-MK7 with D3, if you don't take K2-MK7 you risk Calcium toxicity which can lead to a heart attack.

I take vitamin D, and K2, but I heard a doctor say that you shouldn’t take them together
My test results were at 10. I live in northern Canada and my doctor told me to take 10,000 IU per day. Maybe I should take more.
10k should get you there. But you could 2x for a few weeks or months. Remember to take it with a fat containing meal, to max absorption
@@HansenFT Thank you, I will do that.
@@HeatherRose_ I’d be taking 50k a day for a couple of weeks and then drop down to 25k a day for the next three months then get tested. If you got a blood test done and you’re at 10 that’s dangerously deficient. Hit it hard and your health will bloom.
I would take 50.000+K2/day with K2- 120 mcg/10.000 for man -woman 90mcg/10.000. ONTfor proper uptake you need magnesium with it . magnesium citrate is good only need to be carful with the amount must try how much your body can handle otherwise the run so cut back
EXCELLENT SIR. GOD BLESS U.
I have been taking 10,000 IU daily for the last 15 years. Haven’t gotten sick at all of anything in that time 👍🏻😊
You haven’t gotten a cold or Covid or anything in 15 years?
Seriously ??? And what's you blood level of D3 ?
@@meteor8076
I don’t recall a specific number. But every year I get tested, my Dr tells me it’s “perfect”.
I don’t take 10,000IU in the summer when I’m out and about in the sunshine all day. I only take 2,000.
But 2,000 daily for everyone is not nearly enough !
Studies we’re done on something like 50,000 people that died in India due to having COVID, and they were looking for what they mostly had in common. Was it all age, or weight or what ??? Well, over 85% were severely low in Vit D ! Something to think about coming into Fall/winter.
@@ShepherdMinistry
Nope. My husband got COVID (mild case). I was around him. Never got it. If I did, I didn’t know it and never got tested. The last time I got the flu, I was 23 years old. And it was 2 days after getting the flu shot. Also, it was the LAST time I got any flu vaccine. I’m 57 now. 😁
@@cjhoward409 Very useful info, thanks! I tested my blood level of D3 last year (September 2022) and my level was 41 (without any supplements) and now I want to rise it to 100 ))
Enthusiastic presentation. As you mention “toxicity “ and later “negative effects” was disappointed you did not describe what they are.

Dosage in iu is empty information on this side of the pond. How many micrograms need to be specified.
10000iu equals 250 micro gram
Something that I wish he had talked about is there are two different units of measurement when checking Vitamin D. It's important to differentiate which one you're referring to when you say 100 is a healthy level.
Can you elaborate ?
Great video thank you!
*For all the older people in the comments:*
While I was researching Vitamin D and calcium metabolism I came across some interesting studies and there is a takeaway for certain people with preexisting health conditions.
That has served as my min daily dose ever since
Hey Wellness Warrior, its a solid dose for sure.
Can you double the dosages to catch up to the needed levels faster?
I like to orientate myself on the UVB rays of the sun. Young people can produce up to 25,000 iu via the sun. For example 2-3 weeks 25,000 iu daily and then a lower dose, depending on the body weight and target level.
And think about the cofactors magnesium Vitamin K2.
I take 60000 IU a week...my levels peaked at 95 ng/ml....no toxic side effects...take with k2
how long have you been taking that dose
Yeah how long Buddy?
What are the affects of high doses of vitamin d on fungal sinusitis?
Thanks, Dr. Zyrowski: my V-D, 25 Hydroxy level from a March 2023 test was 113.0 ng/mL. My doctor said that was too high and to cut out the V-D supplements. What do you think?
Hey Wellness Warrior, I don't think it's too high. I think it's a solid level.
Thank you!
That is a perfect Optimal level for PREVENTION!! Your doctor is evidently lacking the education...you need to start doctoring yourself!!
If he told you to cut out D3 Supplements, I would look for another doctor, who believes in supplements and is willing to work with you!
He may be afraid of losing you as a patient, since, you won t be getting sick, so to speak! Sorry, but this is a big possibility!
Who's in charge of Gayle, some doctor or Gayle? FWITW, my doctor did the same to me and my level was only 68. So I blew her off.
Hello doctor, what dose of vitamin D should I take to make Sjogren Gougeot disease reversible ? Thanks ! 🙏🙏🙏
I was taking 4000 iu a day my number was over 100 and my consultant told me to reduce. I’m only small so can only attribute it to that. A year later I’m 80. I supplement maybe twice a week if that. I’m dark skinned.. but there was a time I was at 17 and I felt dreadful. I personally felt ok - great even sun number over 100
What unit? ng/ml or nmol/L ? It is important.
I have read that darker skinned people are more prone to low D3 levels
How about the difference between natural plant verses chemical made?
Thanks Doc!
Is there K2 in store bought eggs?
I understand egg yokes have A D E K. Would it be possible that an egg yoke would have a proper ratio of D to K2 ?
Thanks!!
The eggs contains only small amounts of D3 and K2, definitely not enough. Or you should eat 15 eggs per day)
If you don't want to supplement, your options are sun for vitamin D3 and fermented food for K2.
You get a little of those from animal food. Enough not to show any symptom.
Wild fish for vitamin D. Cod kiver oil gets you some, but not really enough. I consider that an vitamin A supplement.
I will check it out, thanks for the info
Hey Wellness Warrior, You are welcome.
I miscalculated the mcg to IU conversion. Accidentally took 58,000 IUs! I’m here to see if I am going to be ok 😂😂😂
Did you taste colours
I took 30,000 iu of D3 for a year but no K2 ! Is that dangerous with out the K2 ! I do take it now
Dr Cambell just reviewed years worth of documented research on D3/K2. You can not over dose.
Yes, vitamin D toxicity is a myth but is important take K2 and magnesium as well ✨
I asked my General Practioner to test my Vit D level (not necessarily available on the NHS) My level was just over the lowest level, the GP was going to prescribe 1000 IUs per day.
NO spinach though cause it is crazy high in oxlates which causes kidney stones.
how are you feeling now?

Just received from lab the results, my level is 98,8 and I take 6,000 UI a day, i have psoriasis...
Hey Wellness Warrior, 98.8 is a strong level.
Wait?? So my body makes it when sunlight hits my skin??
SO WHY AM I ON A BOAT-LOAD OF CHOLESTEROL-LOWERING STATINS?!?
Also, what's a good ratio of D3 to Vitamin K? I've heard 10,000 D3 and 100 MK-7?
Correct.
@@larsnystrom6698 Appreciate the help!
I took 30,000 units for too long and almost overdosed now I can't take it for a long time
I was taking 5-10k IU's for quite sometime and I started to have a lot of random muscle spasm/twitching.
Me too, i took only 4000 a fay and after 8 months terrible twiching
Better after stopping? Trying to take some magnesium citrate now as I read that high doses of d3 can deplete magnesium and seems like the likely issue?. It was scary
did it ever occur to you to keep taking the vitamin d and k2 but make sure you take adequate magnesium while you do?
you have to take magnesium daily when supplementing D3
I had a test doen and it showed that I had enough vitamin D, but my cells are not using ig or are blocked from using it. So even if I take more, I'm not sure that will help because my cells cannot acces it. I have been diagnosed with CIRS, I have tested positive for mold and only 1 test, of many, detected lyme
Hello .. how did you know is not getting to your cells?
Hell Dr Zyrowski.
I take a 10,000 IU vitamin D3 supplement daily. A few days ago my serum D3 level was 95.The question is whether continuing with the same dose would take into toxic ranges. Should I lower my dose to avoid toxicity?
Great question I tested at 108 6 months ago, and I was taking 20000 IU. My doctor told me it was high, so I decreased to 10000 IU I'm now at 80 I do work outside.
Hey Wellness Warrior, Id be pretty happy at around 100 and go to a maintenance dose. For men, 5,000 IUs is usually good.
@@NO-END actually Optimal dosing for PREVENTION is in the range of 100-140 ng/ml! SO 108 IS PERFECT!
