this dirge-like rendition gives a feeling of longing ... you can see the feelings of the band when they finish ... Mikie

This is their own, Shaye's, composition .. exquisitely played. You can hear Shaye's deep sense of "music", and perhaps her classical training ......

Actually composed not by Shaye but by Barnabus. Also, it's on their 'Tupelo Pine' CD.

Many thanks, CineDevine. The structure of Barnabus's exquisite composition, as played here in the key of E flat, seems to be:
00:00 THEME A: sixteen bars, stated by Shaye, to the accompaniment of tricky offbeats from the rest of the band
00:34 THEME A: sixteen bars, again stated - with some variations - by Shaye, to the tricky accompaniment
01:06 THEME A: Craig solos on the theme, with delicate polyphony from Shaye and Barnabus
01:40 THEME A: Max solos on the 16 bars (at the end of which we see Shaye's finger indicating a switch to Theme B)
02:12 THEME B: A lovely melody of 24 bars, played ensemble (Shaye's hand-on-head at 03:00 signals them back to Theme A)
03:03 THEME A: Barnabus plays the 16 bars, with whispering support from the others and the well-rehearsed tricky rhythmic support on the final two bars
03:36: CODA: Eight bars, adapted from the start of Theme A, led by Shaye with more of the tricky rhythmic support and a lovely rallentando to finish.
What a piece! How many other bands can produce this kind of performance? No wonder we all love them so much.

I may be wrong but wasn't this composed in memoriam to Barnabus' pup named 'Tupelo'?
