I love this album a lot. You & I , secret and last fantasy are my top 3 in this album. Fun fact: IU recently became the 1st Asian female solo artist to earn $1 and $2 million on a single concert tour in the US. Her 6 shows were sold out! And this was her first time touring outside of Asia
Oh goodness choosing a top 3 for me is tough, but I think it's Secret, Teacher, & L'Amant with You & I in a very close 4th. And I hope she comes back because I found out she was touring right near me after tickets already went on sale and the scalper prices were absolutely ridiculous, she's now on my concert bucket list along with Red Velvet and BTOB, I had Dreamcatcher and (G)I-dle on there as well, but I'm going to see them this year!
'The Abandoned' is a song (lyrics and composition by IU) I hadn't appreciated as much until re-discovering with you...and, like Ugly Duckling, hadn't realized how personal those lyrics really were. Both are really beautiful songs, while obviously also heartbreaking.

This album is always a surprise every time I listen to it 😱🤩 The tracks are all so "different", yet each one is beautiful in its own way! (even if I don't have much affection for "Uncle"...). And do we need to talk about "L'Amant"? If anyone had any doubts about IU's vocal and emotional ability and richness, now I challenge them not to change their minds 😅
Some others trivia/ fun facts 1.she's still 18 years old when this album release. Its crazy isnt it? A 17 years old starlet, with an album with collaboration with senior (many of them are not trendy anymore) songwriters? 2.the abandoned/ lost puppy is written by IU. Its actually very dark song abt how she imagine a celeb (herself?) who lost her fame. You'll see the positive answer for this song in Epilogue (2021) in Lilac album 3.4am is composed by Corrine bailey Rae. Yes, that Corrine from british indie scene, that Corrine Put Your Records On. And IU writes the lyrics (!) 4.l'amant is composed by that music fairy dude in Good Day mv. Yes, he is a legit musician, songwriter and composer.

The real magic of last fantasy IMO is on its lyrics. You can interpret half of the songlist as multi-meaning songs, like in surface its like just for lover, but you can read it as song for YOURSELF and/ or for Fans as well. Pls look at last fantasy, you and I, or secret, in particular. Especially You and I, who will have sequel 8 years later in Above The Time [you and I written by Kim eana,above the time by IU), its such a scary song (in a good way). Especially if you realize its IU and her fandom is uaena (very similar to you and I). (Well, although in Korean the title is Noh-rang-na, not you and I. 😂 )
I'm pumped to get to Love Poem, it's one of the few songs of hers that I had heard a cover of (during Kingdom: Legendary War) and I absolutely love the melody of that song
don't know if there is a clip on UA-cam of Last Fantasy at her Golden Hour concert (it played during a drone show 'spectacle' in the night sky - which was amazing)...but hopefully everyone can see that. It's on the concert DVD.

Last Fantasy always gave me "A Whole New World" vibes for sure, so I agree with the Disney comparison. Can't wait for the Modern Times album reaction coming soon.
