Wow, my cousin found a better technique! He's on the floor dancing like crazy! He's so happy
😆
Oh nooo 😂💀
Hohpjahahhahaja hahha lol
This video was great but i just told grandma to touch it and that works even better.😊
That's a great thing to know! We had an electric fence on the farm when I was growing up but never thought to test it, just assumed it was working. It would burn through any piece of grass that grew high enough to touch it. I was riding with Mom one time and when we got home, she drove forward a bit too far and the car was touching the fence. I opened the door and jumped out, but when I tried to close the door I got a terrific shock. We laughed about that one for quite a while.
This was extremely helpful, genuinely. Thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you!
This video saved more peoples lives than you know (:
🤣
I immediately went out and tried this on my electrical fence. Works like a charm without any pain, just this tingling pulse in the fingers! Excellent to know when you don't have any sorts of tools around (which very often is the case) Thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
@@LandisLegacyFarm Used this trick on mine today to, worked like a charm.
You the man. It’s working!
Very helpful, thank you
Yes worked very well thank you for saving my life
Excellent
Super helpful! Worked like a charm 😊
Great to see the younger generation farming and being innovative. I love it. Nice job man, farming is a very rewarding hobby/job or career.
great to know! thanks!
So simple! Wish I had known you in high school. As you know long grass touching the fence will short it out. It was a fairly continuous chore checking the electric fence. Our dad used to send my sister or me to check it by grabbing the wire. If we felt a jolt in a few seconds we knew it wasn't shorted out. (This was a task we dreaded for obvious reasons.) It wasn't until we were in university we discovered that for under $10 you could buy something to touch the wire with that showed if there was current going through it. Then we discovered Dad knew about that all along but didn't see any point in wasting $10. (Not sure we ever forgave dad for that.😃)
😂😂...... I test it by that method as well... however it’s never intentional. lol That’s a pretty funny story that I’m sure will get passed down through your family. “Let me tell you about the time...” Thanks for sharing, Josh
A story all too many of us share from our youth. ;) Dad's can be that way. HA!
That’s fucked up.
This worked perfectly. Thank you.
Glad it helped!
Great video
Thanks!
Thank you! It's on 😃
😁
That was very helpful, a lot better than making a person or animall suffer for the initial test.
ty for info
New sub here. Just put up some fence recently
Good Job.
Had to chuckle when you talked of shenanigans. That was me yesterday when fishing. A local farmer kindly allows access to the stream from his property for fly fishing but it involves an electric fence. I'm sure I was quiet a sight as I wriggled my way underneath the fence in waders and boots. Decided today to see if there was some old school way to tell and was glad to learn your method. I'll give it a try next time. Thanks.
A better way is to place the back of your hand to the wire. If you all use the palm of your hand your muscles will contract around the wire, therefore harder to escape.
That acc helped thx mate
I will try it. Our cheap tester just died so I will give the 7000 volts a test with a long blade of grass. Thanks.
Epic
I’ve seen people just grab the wire and the shock is not that strong. But touching the wire with a finger will give you a good jolt and even jump a spark. Give it a try and you’ll see it does work. Just grab the wire and squeeze hard. I’m not joking.
It's worth knowing this. I got zapped by a pig fence once and it felt like a giant squeezed my heart. I wish I could have spoken to the farmer about that actually. It was way too powerful and there weren't even any cattle nearby...
Fun Fact.... Electric fence for pigs actually needs to be WAY hotter than fence for cattle. Cattle are more respectful, and don't tend to "test" the fence like pigs do. In addition to that, since pigs root around, they can end up shoving dirt on the bottom wire, which reduces the quality of shock. So by starting with something really hot, you'll still be delivering a decent shock even when it's somewhat grounded. Josh
@@LandisLegacyFarm I figured it'd be something along those lines! It felt really dodgy...
thanks man, yeah the horses got out last night ...chase was on! turns out the controller shorted
It ALWAYS happens at night....... Josh
I set up my first apiary fence today and don't yet have a voltmeter. I was scared to try this but it works (even with a lily leaf!)
Woohoo!
@@LandisLegacyFarm I think I will invest in an actual volt meter - for bears at least you need to have something like 8000 volts or delivering 0.7 joules - not sure I want to test that by hand!
@@LandisLegacyFarm I think I will invest in an actual volt meter because I want to make sure I am deterring bears! This is a great 'yes its working' test though!
Ight now I’mma rob some places, thanks man
My dad would grab an electric fence. Sometimes he still couldn't tell so he would use the back of his hand. Sometimes he had to lick the back of his hand before he could feel it. It was a trick he could pull. Grab the fence and then tell somebody that it wasn't hot. Us kids just waited for the inevitable snap and cursing. Always tough to keep from laughing too soon.
Was doing this on my farm as a kid, fub stuff! 😅
jurassic park brought me here after the dude just threw a stick at it. lol. cheers for the pro tips.
🤣
Check it on indian fencer. If u know?
Can you test by putting neon bulbs up to it?
lol.... not that I'm aware of
Pay the person if you dare them!😂
I can say peeing on an electric fence hurts more than just holding it I even tried Wetting my hands still doesn't hurt
can i try this with paper? it's basically white grass right?
It needs moisture to conduct the electricity. Josh
0:49 that’s what she said
Just reach out and touch....
Low key thought you were just gonna grab ahold of it
I just get one of my kids to go pee on it. It’s like getting them back for so so so much at the same time
Great information..
Thank you for the video..
Stay focused on Jesus my friends !
He is the answer to all of this worlds problems.
they don't scare me in the slightest. i can just grab one with both hands & just stand there, enjoying the invigorateing, throbbing pulses of electricity, for ages if i want to !
Let me tell you how
Hold it with your hand
That's how I test it
Try throwing a stick at a dinosaur paddock
ummm.... Jurassic Park reference???
Just didn't want to pee on it so thanks🤩☺😗
😆
Hope I don't get knocked on me arse!
Or you can just touch it
eeh..... You first.... :)
You should try peeing on it, that's a good indicator
Duh.. Touch it. Lol
Be my guest.... lol
@@LandisLegacyFarm I'm not sure how to do it... You go first .
Unfortunately I don't have an electric fence close by..... so I'll just have to walk you through it. 1) Extend arm from body. 2) Touch hand to fence. 3) Measure distance from fence to where you landed to determine shock strength........ See, it's just that easy. Have fun, Josh :D
@@LandisLegacyFarm you're funny ! Your response made me laugh.
Jurassic Park brought me here
😆
Why are people so scared of an electric fence ? Imagine if the power company turned off the power each time they worked on a line ?
Shock therapy is not bad. It relaxes the muscles ! Just take hold of the wire and do what you have to do ! So many wimps ! Its the snap that you feel ! If you take hold if it with a firm grip it dont hurt !
Gotta be green grass I guess
Yep!
NO!!!! THE FENCE IS ON!!!!
Never electrify barbed wire, it's dangerous and illegal in some places, plus you could be sued
You could just stick your tongue on it.....
Not nearly as much fun to watch as.some of the other UA-cam vids though
