Why is no one mentioning Manuel Akanji. He was error prone at Dortmund and suddenly he's one of the best defenders in the Premier league. Incredible
The pep effect
Had saka in his pocket
Akanji have 11/10 performance.. superb!
It's the system. You keep hearing City's squad is so deep etc etc. People forget Sancho left, Alexis Sanchez chose another team, Jorghinio, Fred, Cucurella, Koulibaly. All these players struggled at some time badly. These players would have been seen as world class in the City's system
@@drep9028 Very true. If they adapted...there's the odd player that does not.
Man City are their own worst enemy at this point. They can win the Triple if they keep going as they are and Pep not overthinking like he did vs Chelsea in the UCL final. Credit to the team for playing for eachother and Pep for making players even better than they are. Who wouldve thought to have Stones play at midfield, only coach that did that was Mourinho vs Pep in the UCL semifinal
😅😅😅😅😊😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊😅😅😅
Every year for the past 4 years, the only team that could stop City was City themselves
Totally agree with you.
i would suggest that you learn about football and football tactics before making a rubbish post. he didn't overthink against chelsea in the final. he played 1 cdm and 2 cdm's in his first two games against chelsea and still lost so in the final he went with no cdm an extra attacking midfielder to press from the get go and keep the ball in midfield to counter chelsea's defensive counter press approach but chelsea had kante who when fit, equals to two players and the last time a player who was like that was makelele so a very rare type of a player.
so to use the excuse he overthought it is incorrect as the three games he played against chelsea, he played the three ways he could have played and still lost on all occasions as chelsea gave a defensive masterclass thats all it is.
@@drep9028 brutal, but very valid point. Lol
I was not really surprised about the city performance I mean it’s City and they’ve been balling for 5 years but for Arsenal to show no fight made me so sick! Like where are the leaders on that team. Imagine this game was against the invincibles,Tony Adams and co. They will show heart!!!!
I listened to the whole game and literally heard Sakas name once!!
Same and Martinelli also. Credit to Pep for building/coaching a great defensive team. Gonna be v important against Madrid. Maybe we can nick a 1-0 win or 1-1 draw there...
City fi life 🏆
Love Frank's take on defending Haaland
Rodri has been phenomenal this season for City... hidden wall. You can tell how serious this guy is just by looking how he tacks his shirt on his pants 😅. He reminds me of xavi on Barcelona, no tired legs.
He means serious business. No joking around
Kdb just ran that midfield like a boss. Arsenal's Midfield was not even in the game.Partey looked like a ghost out there.Odegaard giving the ball away and Xhaka should have just stayed on the bench . Absolute masterclass by KDB .
Painful facts...and it hasn't been just this 1 game, for Arsenal. Arteta is hack. City are making history now.
Oodegard gave the ball away for the 2nd kdb goal and then got mad at everyone else lmfao

It's crazy how much Haaland has improved in his hold up play and passing. Wow.

@Tyt Xlx Chelsea spend 600m.. I dont see them winning, kid.
@tytxlx6503That is the difference between Pep and other managers. Pep has clear plans. He doesn't plan his games based on a random result against a championship side.
Remember vividly
KDB was outstanding but today was the best game I’ve seen of Haaland with the ball at his feet
Agreed.
Absolutely.
Arsenal fan here: I‘m not even sad about this game. It was expected. The games we gave away against Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton make me fuming
Well said! Also IMO (I'm a Man City fan from Manchester) we were on a different level to you guys tonight? One of our best performances in a good while.
City were on fire against Bayern in the CL and have been performing at a different level for the last few months. Closing out a PL is very difficult especially against teams fighting for survival. It gives appreciation for what City have done.
Make me fume
@@tyroneevans3202 Sure they were better than Bayern but I think against Real they have to be more clinical and especially smarter. Remember Bayern have had all sorts of troubles since the WC and yet they had moments against Man City where inform players of a real goal scorer could have nicked one away. Everything speaks for Man City at the moment but Real have that winning experience knowing exactly what to do at any give moment of the match. Tough to beat even for a flying Man City side.
you are absolutely right , we can accept the draw against Liverpool , the last 2 draw against west ham and southampton kill the title hope already , we where never going to win city or even take a point , the boys bottle this up with last 2 draws
The sale of Sterling was excellent business by City.
If that was Sterling for the goals he‘d miss 3/4 at least.
We’ve only signed 1 player for 100m. City doesn’t just splash the cash on individual players. The scouting and recruiting departments need their credit.
Stupid comment...you are paying Haaland 900k a week. FFP cheats.
Well akanji for 14m and becoming one of the best cb in the leqgue and alvarez for 15m wc winner and amazing striker just shows that
Akanji was outstanding tonight. £13m transfer from BvD where he was having problems there. 10-months later, he’s a starter at City. Ake, decent CB we picked up for £40m from relegates Bournemouth, who has turned into our starting LB and I would argue one of the best defenders of the season…2-examples of the Pep effect. Pep deserves so much credit than he receives. Amazing manager
same thing with Foden...Grealish...etc etc it goes on and on
Haaland was $60million. Now he is the big debate of this generation’s best player alongside Mbappe
@@vvohvaelez9277 Grealish was too expensive at start. He still is now. But his work rate, attitude, and stamina makes him the star player again
@@mrartdeco 52m
@@mrartdeco he was only expensive bc hes an English player which helps the quota. Also when Man City wants to buy a player that player rarely goes for cheap. Other players Id mention are Dias. Hard to think he was a nobody before coming to City now hes world class like the rest
The fact that Erling Haaland started to drop back to set up the play is really terrifying now
No one spoke about how good and controlled Walker was today. He knew his role was that of a defender and not to constantly overlap like he did vs Southampton. Pep worked mind games on Kyle to get him to fit into the new formation.
I thought the same
Walker will be the key player for city when they play against Madrid.
@@steve4812 I’m always happy seeing Barca fans support city🤝 Barca’s my second favourite team
Gundogan and Rodri in the mid field just dominated. Walker is okay.
We're actually lucky ake couldn't play this game elsewhere he wouldn't be able to keep up with the pace of martinelli
Ake is good but against a player like martineli he'll get cooked
What a dominent performance by Manchester City! KDB & Haaland were absolutely unplayable. And outside of a momentary lapse from Alvarez. City defended resolutely as a team. The final scoreline doesn't reflect just how badly Man City outplayed Arsenal. Ramsdale made some huge saves. And City missed some golden opportunities. Pep got his tactics spot on. Credit to all the players & coaches of Manchester City. Fairplay to Arsenal, just wasn't their day. But they have competed so hard this season. Despite the big win. Nothing was decided today. Still a long ways to go this season. City can't get complacent. I have faith Guardiola will keep his players focused. Well done men! Play to the best of your ability Manchester City. And the rest will take care of itself.💯 C'mon CI-TEH!!!🙌💙
Best duo in the Prem.

Let’s go Cityzens the treble is on 🤞
Akanji has been a bargain man only 14mil played RB CB LB pocketed every winger he came across bro made coman change sides and added saka as another victim absolutely flawless
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Usually Martinelli with threatening runs is very dangerous and creating chances. I don't remember him doing anything! Just one time with the ball in the corner. This is a match I'd like to rewatch with a tactical analysis in mind ( focusing on Kyle Walker and Akanji )
Take notes Mbappe. When Haaland looses the ball he runs after it and looks to win the ball. Learn from the grratest

There was a reason why Guardiola let both Jesus and Zinchenko leave City.
It was frightening how Manchester City played this game. They had such passion and Arsenal, really got nothing to be ashamed of. They had a decent run, but City is just on a higher level. It took Liverpool a while before they could have won the PL too. Arsenal can reshape, rebuild and continue this growth. Quite a successful campaign. But my goodness, the dominance from Manchester City was impressive.
Yes was incredible. I think the fact that Pep predicted / knew Artetas tactics or at least what he might do was what have him and City the total confidence. Now just need to replicate that on May 9th/16th 😉
Losing 4-1 is something to be disappointed about I expect a result like that if City were playing a bottom of the table club not a direct rival to the championship the reason Arsenal lost is they have no plan B and they main style of play cant compete with CIty if your going to play against City toe to toe when your team is going through a bad run of run without your best defender its a suicide mission.
At the start of the season I would say finishing top 4 for Arsenal would be considered a success but considering how they were top of the table (and still are) for majority of the season I would say the players and their fans are more sad on what could of been rather thats be happy with top 4.
But your right City is on another level I reckon this is their best chance to win a treble.

What an amazing game, it was the most dominant I've seen City play all season. Haaland could've easily gotten a hat trick but it just wasn't his night. Arsenal fans were getting a little cocky, forgetting what had happened to Liverpool in previous years. Now they know tho, oh God do they know.

This city is a diffrent animal compared to last they are out for blood an rolling over teams 3-4 goals! De Bruyne an haaland are unplayable an Alvarez is the secret weapon highly underrated! Watch out Madrid this machine is coming for vengeance
Pep showed that no matter how good u are at something u can still learn and get better and he showed that tonight. Last week he gave mad props to De Zerbi and Brighton’s build up play and he utilised some and I stress some of RDZ’s ideas. City had been inverting their full backs all season whether it be Stones, Cancelo or Lewis but there was none of that tonight and it totally threw Arteta off. Pep is a genius.
Totally messed up Arsenal’s press
@Akh2001: Lewis is immature to play in the EPL. He was the reason Spurs beat City. Since that match, Pep has learned his lessons, benched him and getting results.
For sure, Kyrle Walker is playing against R. Madrid because of the explosive speed of Vinicius or whatever his name is. Akanji will be too slow to stop Vinni.
Pep will change things.

Today, haaland and de bruyne switched roles 😊

He dribbled through 2 arsenal defenders today but didnt make good contact on the shot.

The Better Team won the game and will win the League Period
The goals are in reach for City!! The Premier League, The Champions League and The FA Cup!! But I would suggest City to be cautious, proceed with one step at a time👍👍👍👍
Arsenal were totally shambolic. They were not hungry. The kind of energy with which Arsenal played was poor compared to their earlier games. They were not tracking back, especially Martinelli and Saka, like they did earlier in the season. I don't see any miracle happening for Arsenal this season. They had it in their hands, and they lost it. Come to think of it, Arsenal have been playing poorly since their game against Liverpool. While Liverpool have been fighting and winning, Arsenal have been disappointing. Do you think it's magic? No, it's not. Liverpool became more hungrier (there was a shift in mentality). Arsenal also had a shift in mentality, albeit a non desirable one.
Credits to Man City. They were outstanding.
I wish Arsenal the best next season.
I hope this the City that turns up at the Bernabeu. They should get the result they need to reach the final in the first leg.
I highly doubt they will get a good enough result in the first leg to say that they have already reached the final. It would need to be like 3-0 or 4-0. Is it possible? Of course, anything is, and Man City are the best team in the world. But is it likely? No. Madrid are not Arsenal. They don't lack confidence, they don't lack experience, and they don't fear anyone. They will not roll over, especially in a Champions League semi-final, and especially at the Bernabeu.

If you're not Manchester City, it seems like we're all doomed. The level of performance required to clinch the title is absurd. Arsenal has been faultless throughout the season, and in any other year, they would have won the league. Regardless of what Ten Hag does, his team may not be able to bridge the gap to City. Manchester United could secure the signings of Kane and Osimhen, but it still may not be sufficient to overcome City.
Ten Hag will be the manager that will make United the main challengers to city in the next few years. Look at what United have achieved already in his first season. With some players that he'll be getting rid of. When he's brought in more of the players that he wants, so he can get the team to play how he wants them to every game, then it'll be very interesting.

Arsenal keep playing with same lineup and tactics.... Enemy saw it 100 miles away... Switch it up Arteta.... Trossard and Jorginho should have start... Maybe Nketiah too
Stevie says City are good because they can add a 100M player every year. But the fact of the matter is, many of the key players on this squad have cost well under 50M...vital players like Akanji, Rodri, Alvarez, Mahrez, DeBruyne, Bernardo. Haaland and Alvarez are the first real 9's this squad has had since Aguero...and the last 3-4 years of Sergio's career he was dealing with knocks and poor runs of form. Haaland also only cost them 51M.

1. They are still an extremely young team that has over achieved this season. There is no reason to feel shame if you lose the league to an absolute machine in Man City.
And
2. We were up 2-1 on Liverpool after 86 minutes.. you can’t mess that up…we were up 2-0 on west ham and Saka missed a penalty….you can’t mess that up…we drew a home game to bottom of the table Southampton…you CAN NOT mess that up 😢
I didn't expect arsenal to finish better than 6th, so they've certainly overperformed expectations and they've got a lot of young talent. But when you have the chance to win trophies you have to take it because you don't know what will happen. Saka could end up like Cazola(hope not), some of those young players could leave, utd and cfc are going to continue to spend, etc... the way the team keeps falling apart down the stretch should be a concern. Some great teams have faltered in the big moments and gotten stronger. But if they don't beat cfc the team will melt down
Mahrez is a great player, scored the 3 goals in cup semi final and pep can leave him on the bench for the biggest domestic game of the season. That does say it all.
Pep is truly an amazing coach. His players and teams always become better. An amazing achievement. I hope they win the treble.
Arteta is too soft. Everton, Liverpool and other teams have shown that Arsenal are the same old Arsenal of old that enjoy it when they can play pretty football but go into their shell when you put it up them. Arsenal could have come to The Ettihad today and really got in Man City's faces. Made it a scrap, made life a lot tougher for City. A draw would have been a good result for them and would have arrested this slide. But instead they played meek and mild football, totally intimidated by the opposition and the environment. They actually showed more in the FA Cup game at this same venue a few months ago. Holding wrestled Haaland and got really physical with him and he didn't like it. At the end of the day just 2 teams going in different directions.
Excuse they couLdve done that the other 2 time they lost to city this year
Craig Burley is the bext pundit ever! I have never known anyone give such insightful, balanced and informed analysis.Well done Craig!
Lol that must be sarcasm because I've heard some horrendous takes from Craig
He's had some bad one's and good one's just like any talking head he makes for good TV though
halaand /kdb duo is deadly
Arsenal back to reality
so eth is more successful than arteta
KDB is the best in the world! Odegard who? Xhaka who?
look what Pep has done with players like Grealish, Stones, Foden, Akanji and Ake above all. And yet people say he's Fraudiola!
Thanks ESPN FC, you guys make my days. I watch everyday, I feel part of this family. Love the guys in the studio
It comes down to the tiniest of details at times. maybe if xhaka had kept his head and not gotten the anfield crowd going when they were 2-0, perhaps they would’ve won that game and continued that momentum
Odds are they would still lose.. city beat them 3 times this season even when they were at there best
Guardiola to his players -" Go win the fu----g game!!". Arteta -" Have a beautiful experience". Says it all.
