UTTER GENIUS!!! Its 90% Saturday night sunday morning and 10% Kes. Two brilliant films to begin with. The whole norbert smith spoof is a work of genius (though he was running out of ideas by the time he got to the Carry On and Mandella sketches). But even Dali painted a duff picture here and there! This is the pinnacle of Harrys comedy carreer and puts him right up there with Laurel and Hardy and Tommy Cooper at their very best. MAGIC. Cheers for posting :-)
Perfect parody of Saturday Night and Sunday Morning - 'Sir Norbert Smith; A Life" is surely the most underrated and unseen piece of TV comedy. Can't understand why it was never released on DVD. Very glad I recorded it on VHS at the time.
- "I was late for school 'cause dad gave me a belting so I had to stay behind to get the cane." - "Got the cane, did you? I'll take my bloody belt to you for that!" Priceless... :D
Just as I remember those times - everyone was Fking miserable and in Black & White. Things didn't appear in Colour until the late 60s and then Ted Heath put things in Black & White again with the 3-day week and power cuts for a couple of years and back into Colour with Maggie T and all-day Pub opening.
What about Fireman Wally and the rest of the crew, in a thrilling adventure that's a lot of fun, Mark? Casey couldn't have kept the show on the railroad without 'em.@@marklatimer7333
This, is probably the best ever piece of british Comedy ever!

I've been up north. This sketch is an accurate portrayal.
It has more than a grain of truth in it.
