As you also said, I was also expecting a short at the power in MOSFET. "Was there learning from this?" Yes there was... A reminder that sometimes disassembly and reassembly is all it takes (again, as you said). Been there, done that, several times... and yes, it is damn frustrating too.

There is learning in everything to be fair, i had the same when i was upgrading my desktop about a year ago. New mobo, cpu and RAM, and the damned thing was stone cold dead, just nothing. And for the life of me i couldn't figure out what was wrong. I reset the bios, checked all cable's and connections re-seated the RAM and cpu and just about anything i could think of, stil nothing. So i disasemble'd the whole damned thing, checking for anything i might have done wrong along the way (of witch i found none). Put it back together with a hope and a prayer, and it just came good for no appearent reason. #computerthings

@@sindreskjelbostad2101 I've been there too. As a teen I had an intuition of what my friends or people screwed up. I had people come to my doorstep with their PCs and the power supply was turned off by it's button... I had people that had assembled their pcs and had standoffs behind the motherboard where there were no screw-holes so they were shorting the motherboard. I had people with problematic power supplies. I had people connecting the cables wrong or forgetting about some. Then there's me upgrading from an Athlon dual-core that worked well to an used i7 2600k that still works awesome in games for someone to this day, that was an amazing CPU. So my Athlon dual-core worked well, I pulled-off the mobo with CPU, installed the used-new mobo and CPU, moar ram, put the cables, no sign of life, wtf.exe. Troubleshoot and found nothing. Disconnected and reconnected the system again and nothing. The 3rd time it went off and kept working. No damn reason...

the HP Probook and EliteBook's are notorious for "No Power" symptoms when in actual fact all you need to do is remove the battery, remove the power cable and just press the power button a couple of times to drain any remaining voltage in the caps - plug it back in and turn it back on, 99.99% of the time it cures this sort of issue : Source, i used to support a fleet of 500+ Probooks and HP EliteBook 840 G5 & G6's and we used to get this all the time.

Great video for me Graham so *Thank You* for that.

I had a similar repair fix a while ago; neighbor brought over his new Big Box Store desktop - said it wasn't turning on. I inspected everything outside/inside; everything looked legit. However, after trying different options, I decided to "re-attach" all the cables and re-seat the memory sticks. Upon closer inspection, I realized the 24-pin power connector was slightly off; all I had to do was re-connect the 24-pin cable and - BINGO! PC back to normal.

It's maddening to the point of exasperation the number of screws, it sounds incredible that one would first have to overcome the animosity caused before even starting the disassembly. Stupid design of that HP model.
On the other hand, as a loyal subscriber I don't care if the video is edited or not, the important thing is the content. (15:56) The images shown by the microscope are amazing (fabulous sharpness). (19:08) That smile on your face said it all (you have all the luck on you and you should buy a British lottery ticket). I really think, it was a good video showing how computer repair can be.
I had a laptop come in, that needed a ssd upgrade. When installing a new Windows system on it, i noticed it had a wonky charger cable / charging port. But they only wanted the ssd upgrade.
Then a month later, it came back because it was dead. Diagnose: No Power.
Expecting the charger port to be bad, i took the laptop apart and check the charger port. It looked fine, had a perfect fit with the charger cable. Tested fine. Charger tested fine.
Checked the motherboard, came out fine.
Thought that was weird, and put it back together and decided to give up. For laugh i put the charger cable back in it, when it was finally back together. Wouldn´t you believe it, it came back to life and worked perfect since.

After that, I turned on the TV and it worked perfectly. When we picked up this TV at the owner's house it had a 'no power' actually. We didn't double-check that at the shop. So It had 'repaired' itself by transporting it to the shop. Very weird. Regards Nico.

To be honest I prefer this, I care not for fancy editing although I suspect there's some editing here. A particular agenda/ending is not what I'm looking for, this 'seems' real, this 'seems' like it is what it is and that's a good thing, there's a story here whether it's the one one wants or not, although obviously it would get stale if it turns out to be the same one over and over. The quad video split is also preferred, believe it or not it's not beyond the human brain's eye coordination to do it's own editing by selecting which of the 4 views to look at at any one time, everyone can then make their own personalised edit. Don't be too hasty in dismissing this video, it is good and it is interesting.

I warranty the work, so if it falls over again it'll be back on my bench and I'll look closer, but sometimes it just be this way.
